Unfortunately when I purchased it there was no volume control but maybe there is now. My granddaughter was just weeks over 3 years old at the time and it only took a few minutes for her to get the hang of it. I highly recommend the latter for a 4 year old. Answer:	We returned ours as the white drawing area was peeling off in the folds/creases. So while I do not know for certain if it can be washed or not, I would probably not recommend it be washed. I do not think it's made of quality material that would hold up to anything more than a very light cloth with water.
