I've bought them from Amazon, Big Box stores, Plummer's Supply, etc. - If I got 2 years out of them I considered it a success. So far, I gotten 3+ years out of my 1HP Waste King, and it's still going strong. Go with the aste King and not the sales pitch. |

| Answer: | I've installed five Waste King disposals in the last three years for friends and family, and I have found it easier to just install an outlet to plug the disposal into. Turn off power to the existing disposal, use the wire (if it's Romex) that's already there, buy a surface-mount box, outlet, and an outlet cover - then wire it in, install the new disposal, and plug it in. I think it's much easier than trying to direct-wire the new disposal with (what is usually very stiff) Romex. Also this way you can then use a disposal air switch control that plugs into this new outlet, and then your disposal cord plugs into that. Since your old disposal is most likely controlled by a wall switch, just leave the switch in the "on" position and from then on use the air switch. |

| Answer: | This is the best. I bought mine in 2013 (5 years ago) and its worked perfectly, until a couple of days ago, it would not start. Power to GFCI plug on, reset button tripped. When I reset the button, it came on about 1/2 second and stopped. Troubleshooting indicates the brushes on the electromagnetic motor need replacement. I called Anaheim customer service (the company that manufactures Waste King and all they needed was the original purchase date, my name, and the serial number from the unit. A brand new replacement unit should arrive in a couple of days. Zero charge for the unit or shipping fee. They offered to have a plumber come install it too, also no charge, however, since I’m pretty handy, I don’t need that. The total time on the call to resolve the warranty replacement was about 15 minutes, due to an approximate 3 minute wait time to speak to the representative. All is needed to complete the warranty process is the serial number tag from the existing unit and the serial number from the new one, mailed back in to Anaheim Manufacturing. Easy peasy!! Great service and they stand behind the lifetime warranty! |

| Answer: | The Easy Mount doesn't seal well on a SS sink. I've had a plumber out a couple of times to remedy the sink seal. Last fix was a couple of years ago and we just discovered it's leaking again. |

| Answer: | I have a Sinkmaster 550 that I installed over 30 years ago. It looks identical to this Waste King, same EZ- Mount too. Mine did work loose, and I discovered it about a year ago. LOL. I noticed calcium stains on the disposal when I was replacing the dishwasher. I was able to tighten it back up by hand. If this thing gets loose or dies before I do, I will use blue thread locker. |

| Answer: | We had a Waste King in our home with the "EZ-Mount" attachment. (The black plastic part at the top of the photo.) The EZ-Mount sounds great -- no tools are required, and you simply turn a large plastic fitting until it is tightly fastened to your sink. Unfortunately, however, there is no way to prevent the fitting from coming loose. It repeatedly loosened up under our sink, which caused water leaks that damaged the cabinet. I switched to an Insinkerator Evolution with a standard 3-bolt mount. The Evolution costs a bit more, but it is very quiet. After I installed it, I had to turn the water off to make sure it was running! (The Waste King sounded like most disposals -- a loud rumble and roar.) So... whatever brand you buy, look for the standard 3-bolt mount. It is easy to install and does not loosen. Regarding the drain, every disposal has a slightly different drain height. This is typically easy to adjust with the plastic plumbing used for most modern installations. You can probably loosen the tube (by hand) that connects to your Badger and adjust it for your new disposal. | Answer: | Yes, it's possible...but not easy. Just finished doing it myself. You can pop the bottom off easy enough to get to where the wires connect. The problem is, where the cord goes into the unit, there's some sort of rubber grommet, that makes it impossible to get to the old cord out. You have to cut that grommet out, and then you have to provide your own metal cord clamp to put in the resulting hole. Not impossible, if you know what you're doing...but not easy. In hindsight, I should have just wired an outlet to my switch, and then plugged this directly in to that outlet. |

None-the-less I couldn't see paying someone to install a garbage disposal. It turned out to be fairly easy. The instructions cover about 90% of what I needed to know to do the installation. The 10% missing stumped me for about an hour. Overall it took me about 2 hours, probably should have only taken less than an hour. Plumbing is sometimes is like a black whole for me - I' m in my 60's and still have a mental block with most plumbing issues. Hope that helps. : ) |

| Answer: | The power cord is attached when you receive it. I installed an L8000 in a previous home and the A1SPC in my current home so I have experience with both. In operation, they are identical. I couldn't tell one from the other without looking under the sink. I found the L8000 installation easier, there is no snap ring to deal with. There is no doubt that the A1SPC is the better looking unit, but how much do you care about what your garbage disposal looks like? I would go with either one depending on if looks or ease of installation is more important to you. |

However the flange and stopper look really nice and all it takes is some plumber's putty and an extra 5-10mins to install the included mount. |

| Answer: | :Please check to see you have the right model. The version delivered to me has a hollow stopper about 3" long with a little notch about the size of a pencil eraser on opposite sides. The notch slides over a pin inside the machine, putting downward pressure on it, actuating a power switch. You should feel the switch when you catch it with the notch on the stopper. If there is no notch, you have a different machine. Note there is another version in which the stopper has a ridge at the bottom edge--which you turn clockwise to actuate the switch. In this case the stopper is solid and heavy. If you have the right machine, it should not run all the time. |

| Answer: | Of course, with effort and motivation, you can. You will want to take care that the result is safe and compliant with code. I would remove the plug itself and strip back the cord wires, enclose the cord in a flex conduit, and connect the wires to the power supply within an appropriately mounted junction box. The conduit and junction box should be grounded. The conduit should be securely attached at the Disposal. The conduit should be carefully mounted to avoid interference with other under sink activity. Personally, I have installed an outlet at the supply and plugged the Disposal, unmodified into the outlet. The outlet is a GFCI device because of its potentional exposure to moisture under the sink. The effort to do this is about the same as removing the plug! |
