3 best dual compound sliding miter saw
A dual compound sliding miter saw is a versatile power tool commonly used in woodworking and construction projects. It combines several features to make precise and angled cuts in various materials, including wood, plastic, and sometimes metal. Here are the key aspects of a dual compound sliding miter saw:
Miter Cuts: A miter cut is an angled cut made across the width of a workpiece. Dual compound sliding miter saws allow you to make miter cuts by adjusting the saw blade's angle horizontally, typically up to 45 degrees in both directions (left and right). This is useful for creating angled joints in woodworking.
Compound Cuts: In addition to miter cuts, these saws can make compound cuts, which involve both miter and bevel angles. You can tilt the saw blade vertically to make bevel cuts, typically ranging from -45 degrees to 45 degrees. This feature is crucial for creating complex angles and beveled edges on workpieces.
Sliding Mechanism: The "sliding" aspect of the saw refers to the ability of the saw head to slide forward and backward along a pair of rails. This feature increases the saw's cutting capacity, allowing you to make longer crosscuts on wider workpieces. It's particularly useful for cutting wide boards or panels.
Dual Bevel: Some dual compound sliding miter saws offer a dual bevel feature, which means the blade can tilt both left and right. This feature simplifies the process of creating bevel cuts on both sides of the workpiece without having to flip it over.
Accuracy and Precision: These saws are known for their accuracy and precision when making various types of cuts. They often come with laser guides or LED lights to help you line up your cuts with precision.
Safety Features: Most dual compound sliding miter saws are equipped with safety features such as blade guards, electric brakes that stop the blade quickly, and trigger locks to prevent accidental starts.
Portability: While these saws are typically heavier and bulkier than standard miter saws, many models come with built-in handles or are designed for easy transport. Some also have folding stands or are compatible with miter saw stands.
Power Source: Dual compound sliding miter saws are usually powered by electricity, but cordless battery-powered models are also available for added mobility.
These saws are popular among professionals and DIY enthusiasts due to their ability to make a wide range of accurate and precise cuts. They are commonly used in applications such as framing, trim work, crown molding, and other carpentry tasks that require angled and beveled cuts.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number |
Answer: | I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20 |
Question: | Can xps be added, i know dewalt makes a kit to add it to some saws, but this model was not listed |
Answer: | mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world. |
Question: | Does this miter saw come with a laser or any guiding system |
Answer: | It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Is there an LED cut line |
Answer: | You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add. |
Product description
The innovation responsible for both the unique appearance and the unparalleled level of performance is Bosch's patented Axial-Glide system. Beyond giving the CM10GD its distinctive profile, Bosch's Axial-Glide system eliminates three key challenges miter saw users have endured since the first slide systems debuted many years ago. While the traditional sliding compound miter saw approach enables users to make wider cross cuts, that system takes up more space and is prone to misalignment and stickiness over time. By replacing the sliding rail system with a hinged or articulating glide arm system - similar to the linkage used in a four-bar suspension design - Bosch created a more compact miter saw that delivers durable precision, remaining true and smooth over time. The Bosch CM10GD 10-Inch Dual Bevel Glide Miter Saw features a powerful 15-Amp, 4, 000-RPM motor with large easy-to-read bevel and miter scales allowing for precise, quick and easy adjustments: 52-Degree Left/60-Degree Right Miter Capacity; 47-Degree Left/47-Degree Right Bevel Capacity with marked detents and roof pitch angles. The tall sliding 4-1/4-Inch fences allow for increased cutting capacity when cutting tall base and crown moulding. With an ergonomic soft-grip ambidextrous trigger handle and a clear lower guard for unobstructed visibility throughout cut, the CM10GD provides maximum comfort for all-day use.
- ACCURACY: The Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide System allows wider cross cuts and better alignment
- CONVENIENCE: Featuring large, upfront metal bevel controls and Square lock precision fences for precise, quick and easy adjustments. Complete with dust collection chute and vacuum adapter for easy clean-up.
- CONTROL: This miter saw provides accuracy and cutting control at all angles. Crown/chop lock locks head in place for maximum chop cutting capacity for upright base moulding and nested crown.Depth Front-to-Back, Not Including Arm:30 inch
- COMPACT: Featuring a compact design that replaces the sliding rail system, taking up to 10 In. less workspace than a slide miter saw. This Bosch miter saw is perfect for tight quarters where other saws just won’t do.
- COMFORT: Large, form-fitting ergonomic ambidextrous trigger handle with soft grip provides maximum comfort for all-day use while the clear lower guard allows for unobstructed visibility throughout the cutting job.

Includes
10-Inch Dual Bevel Glide Miter Saw, 60-Tooth Blade, Material Clamp, Dust Bag
Axial-Glide System
The innovative Bosch Axial-Glide System gives the user durable precision in a compact workspace. Replacing the sliding rail system with a hinged or articulated glide arm system saves up to 10 inches of working room while giving the user enhanced alignment and a smooth glide for the life of the unit. As a result, users produce smooth cuts and have complete control over the saw's cutting motion.
Flexibility and Ease of Use
The all-metal bevel lock lever and range selector was designed to be upfront on this unit, to enable fast and easy bevel settings without reaching around behind the saw. The tall 4-1/4-inch sliding fences also support quick bevel set-ups, professional level precision and increased crown molding capacity.
Lock and Chop
For the utmost in chop cutting capacity for a 10-inch miter saw, the Bosch CM10GD has a crown/chop lock that locks the head in place. This enables users to power through upright base molding and nested crown molding. The adjustable miter detents with easy-read markings let you accurately set cuts up to 47 degrees left or right. The common angles have miter detents at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6 and 45 degrees on the right and left, and 60 degrees on the right.
Dust in the Bag
Like other Bosch models, this saw includes a combination dust chute and vacuum adapter to hook up your 1-14-inch and 35mm hoses. The "click and clean" platform ensures that the vac hose remains in place, so users can concentrate on making the cut.
