13 best corded circular saw
A corded circular saw is a versatile power tool commonly used in woodworking and construction for making straight cuts in various materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and more. Here are some key features and information about corded circular saws:
Power Source: Corded circular saws are powered by electricity through a cord that needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet. This means they provide consistent power without the need for batteries or recharging.
Blade: Circular saws have a circular blade with sharp teeth designed for cutting specific materials. The choice of blade depends on the type of material you want to cut.
Blade Size: Circular saws come in various blade sizes, with common diameters ranging from 6.5 inches to 7.25 inches. The blade size determines the maximum cutting depth of the saw.
Cutting Depth: The cutting depth of a corded circular saw can usually be adjusted to make different types of cuts. It can make both shallow and deep cuts, depending on the material and the project's requirements.
Bevel Cuts: Many corded circular saws can make bevel cuts by tilting the blade at an angle. This feature allows you to create angled cuts, such as miter cuts and beveled edges.
Rip Cuts and Crosscuts: Circular saws are versatile and can perform both rip cuts (cuts along the length of the material) and crosscuts (cuts across the width of the material).
Safety Features: Most modern circular saws come equipped with safety features like blade guards, safety switches, and electric brakes to minimize the risk of accidents.
Dust Collection: Some circular saws have built-in dust collection systems or ports to connect to a dust extractor, which helps keep the workspace clean and reduces airborne dust.
Comfort and Ergonomics: The design of corded circular saws often includes ergonomic handles and features for comfort during prolonged use.
Applications: Corded circular saws are used for a wide range of applications, including cutting lumber for framing, plywood, paneling, and other sheet goods, as well as trimming and shaping materials.
Accessories: Various accessories are available for circular saws, such as rip guides, edge guides, and various types of blades designed for specific tasks.
Maintenance: Proper maintenance, including keeping the blade sharp and ensuring the saw is in good working condition, is essential for safety and optimal performance.
Corded circular saws are valuable tools for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts due to their versatility and ability to make precise cuts in different materials. When using one, it's crucial to follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective gear to prevent accidents and injuries.

User questions & answers
Question: | I am building a panel saw and need a circular saw with an auto on switch. Does this saw have that ability |
Answer: | use the switch at the power plug and zip tie it the trigger. |
Question: | What is the wattage |
Answer: | With an AC motor you can't calculate the wattage by multiplying the voltage by the current (amperage). I won't get into a technical explanation but the peaks in the AC current are delayed from the peaks in the AC voltage. The wattage is equal to the volts X amps X a power factor, which is always less than one. That said, the wattage is really only of interest with respect to how much electricity your're billed for. You need to consider the current to determine whether you are overloading your wiring. The 15 amp specification would be when it reaches it's maximum load. I haven't measured this saw but my 15-amp rated table saw draws 8 amps with no load. I don't really have the means to measure it safely at full load. |
Question: | Can the laser be adjusted by the user if it doesn't line up out of the box |
Answer: | There is an adjuster toward the back of the laser- a 3/32 allen key can adjust it left or right. Mine moved a bit, probably from the vibration of the saw. I was able to easily adjust it back to straight. |
Question: | Does this cut accurately? I bought a cheaper Skil and the cut was off by 1/4" at the base. The laser was off the same too |
Answer: | I made some straight cuts in 2" x 4" s and the laser was right on. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a cut depth adjustment? No mention of one |
Answer: | It has an adjustable depth of up to 2-9/16 inches. This saw is also a lot quieter than I expected. |
Question: | Will it wash the dishes |
Answer: | Does help make quick work of my honey-do list. I'm in the shop, cutting trim for new cabinets. Grateful spouse is in the kitchen, scrubbing the plates and the skillet. So, yes? |
Question: | For those who have used this with a speed square or homemade fence on the left side of the handle, does the motor get in the way |
Answer: | Late answer but I have to correct the previous answer. A speed square does not get in the way if you put the fat side of the square on the top of the board you are cutting. This let's the saw finish cutting before the motor reaches the top of the square. |
Question: | What material is the blade made of |
Answer: | 100% gluten-free steel with carbide tip teeth. And 0.1% yellow paint. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this saw use oil |
Answer: | Probably, the mounting points are pretty standard across a wide range of reciprocal saws. |
Question: | is it made in USA |
Answer: | You would just flip the 1/4 round 180 degrees to make the opposing 45deg cut. It's a lot easier with a miter saw, but it can be done with this tool. |
Question: | Does it really take 1 to 2 months to get it |
Answer: | It did them just fine. The fence tightens down so that it doesn't move. I found that cutting the boards for length was a little less accurate and you had to adjust it a bit. But no problems with ripping. I didn't use the ripstick I just kept my hands on the edge of the fence and slid them through. |
Question: | is blade included |
Answer: | There is a dust bag that has a tube, not sure if is designed to hook a vacum up to it. The mess is probably depends on what you are cutting. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you operate this with one hand? Or do you need both hands |
Answer: | I have this saw at my cabin and it is about 4 hrs away, (so I can't tell you for sure, but likely Taiwan or China) BUT, when we were building the cabin, I had two Skil 77's and this Makita and everyone (real carpenters) went for the Makita. It's a good saw and does what you want it to do. Time will tell if it lasts as long as a 77, but it's great for bench work and trimming rafter tails 20' in the air. I would recommend buying this saw... |
Question: | Is there voltage 220 V |
Answer: | Its a heavy framing saw. Using it over your head is not recommended. Better off using a sidwinder for this. 6 1/2" skill is nice or a porta-cable 4" trim saw.Good luck! |
Question: | Does this saw capable to cut metal and concrete as well. Are there blades that fit this saw to perform this task |
Answer: | Volts x amps = watts. 745 watts = 1 HP. So 120 x 15 = 1,800 / 745 = 2.4 HP. |
Question: | Does this saw have a laser |
Answer: | I have not tried the saw on concrete partly because I love my Makita Hypoid Saw too much. I like to keep the sole plate in good condition. To score concrete, and by that I assume the asker is say score lines to encourage the concrete to crack in a score line not an uncontrolled place in the middle of the slab, I use a Ryobi Wet/Dry Saw with a 4" Diamond Blade. User questions & answers
Question: | Where can I find the rip fence for this saw |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. The CS5 Circular Saw is Bosch's Product. It doesn't come with a laser though. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST. |
Question: | Does this work with the metabo guide rail? guide rail fs |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. The CS5 does not have a safety release button. If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Bosch Customer Service Representatives at 1-877-BOSCH-99 (1-877-267-2499) |
Question: | Is there a dust port attachment available |
Answer: | Bosch has a good warranty and return policy. So does Amazon. If it is that far off, you need to send it back for warranty repair or replacement. If that's not practical or possible, I would really like to help you. I love this saw and use it every day. When you say it's a 1/4" off, you need to be more specific about it. For example, the left edge of the "base" or "shoe" as it's called, is parallel to, and exactly 1.5 inches from the left side of the saw blade. Using that dimension as a reference, in what way is the base of your saw a quarter inch off? Is the blade perpendicular to the bottom of the "base", and is it parallel to both left and right edges. I've dropped my saw many times with no damage or bad effect on the performance, but I suppose a really hard drop could cause that kind of mis-alignment. I am only speculating. It would be helpful if you could describe the problem in more detail. |
Question: | Does this saw really weigh 16.22 pounds, as listed in the technical specifications? That is twice the weight of my previous saw |
Answer: | Skilsaw designed the “Left” side blade saw back in the 1920’s. It was the first commercially successful saw so wouldn’t that make it the “Regular Circular Saw” ??? There is no such thing. Secondly NO the left side design is NOT for left handed users. Third NO it is NOT more dangerous in the event of kickback. This saw EXCELS for multiple reasons. First is it’s blade speed, it’s higher RPM produces cleaner cuts. The left side design is far more accurate to use for right handed users. The Construction Industry has used the Left Side Design as the mainstay in the form of the “Worm Drive” 7 1/4” saw for decades. If you are looking for a Top Quality Saw look NO further. This is the best finish Saw we have ever used and will never switch until they improve this one. I am sorry AZ540 but you are completely and utterly wrong !!! |
