Question:	What will the 2.25 HP Dewalt router do that this will not? Differences
Answer:	Well it depends a lot on what purpose you are using it for. The HP claims are pretty much worthless as both will be equal in terms of mid-size routing. The major flaw the 2.25HP (DW618. I'll refer to it as "618". Whereas this is the DW616... SO, "616") has is it cannot be used in an upside down router table without blowing up bearings in it. THE 616 is fine in a table. Also, the 616 has a quick start vs 618 which is a slow start. This means the 616 is running full speed at start, while the 618 starts slow and takes a second or two to build up speed. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. The BIGGEST issue for myself and others is that the 618 motor has... well... fire problems. Lol. That motor does not like extended use and with eat up brushes like mad. The 616 might have a bit less power, but its basically unnoticeable if you are using good sharp bits. Most importantly... the 616 (the "weaker" of the 2) tends to handle a lengthy runtime without catching fire lol. Personally, I prefer the 616 when it comes to mid-range routers. It has plenty of power, even with hardwoods, and larger bits. If you are planning on closing giant bits, or surface planing, I'd recommend neither and point you to a larger plunge base style of router with much greater strength, but a much higher weight.

I prefer the buy 1/2" shank myself especially in larger bits, they are a little more expensive but seem to run better and last longer. When it comes to brands of router bit Freud is always the first place I shop. I have also had really good success with CMT and Bosch because my local big box store doesn't carry Freud. One thing I will saw about router bits is its always better to buy quality bits they will last for years and produce better results. Amazon has some nice bits sets that come with a lot of common bits that are nice for a person new to the router.

Answer:	I am not sure about that but with enough duct tape, screws, epoxy, and good old American ingenuity, anything is possible! Seriously though, i know there are multiple screw holes in the base plate, but whether or not they will line up to your Porter cable jig, i am not entirely sure. I do know this is a great router, its the first one I have owned, but not the first I have used. Plenty of power for bigger bits and smooth precise adjustments, easy to handle and manipulate. Quieter than alot of others I have used.

Answer:	We have just purchased a (GOF 1600 CE) router from Bosch. This router is 220 volts and came with two bases. This router will not operate in a conventional router lift, as the power switch is on the handle and not on the motor. The unit was supplied with two bases, one plunge base and one non plunge base. The non plunge base may be used to mount the router to a table. Is what Bosch needs, is a kit to make the router work in a proper router lift.

Question:	Where do you get parts for it
Answer:	Yeah, so the maslow can run on most routers that have the standard 1/2 in or 1/4 collet adapter and fixed base. I would not use a dove tail bit for cutting patterns but I don't see why I wouldn't be able to.... for example carve a rail, key slots or such. You can also reference the maslow community online and see if anyone has used dove tail bits and for what.
Question:	Can this be used on 3/4 plywood on edges
Answer:	Yes, it comes with a pair of 11-foot chains. If you want to extend your top beam from the standard 10-foot to 12-foot, there are optional 15-foot chains you can upgrade to from their web site.
Question:	Would this work well for door hinges
Answer:	The best description is over on the Maker Made web site, but this essentially comes with everything except the router, wood frame, and the screws to assemble the wood frame. This kit DOES come with the Z axis control (another kit does not have Z axis). You will also need a sled to mount the rings and router to, the full instructions are available on Maslow CNC or MakerMade web sites. There is another kit, called the JumpStart, that comes with the sled and pre-drilled holes for mounting the ring, bricks, etc as well as a router bit. Amazon currently has those in stock in their warehouse.
Question:	Will this cut a laminate end cap
Answer:	It's battery operated so it won't go forever, but for instantaneous power, it seems as good as the last corded Dremel I had and much better than the ni-cd rechargable Dremel. However the noise is louder. I think the Dremel has a better balance on the high speed parts.

How to replace the carbon brush

Step 1: Open the cap on the side.

Step 2: Pull out the carbon brush.

Step 3: Replace a new carbon brush into and screw the cap on.

In order to better protect the motor, we recommend you to replace a pair of carbon brushes after using for 50-60 hours.
