Answer:	I am 99% certan that the tables are cast aluminum, and the fence is aluminum. The weight, color and feel make this pretty evident. If it were cast iron it would weigh twice as much and be prone to rust. This jointer is as good functionally as any other. But because of its light weight it must be secured to a stable heavy base. It also needs a bit more tuning than other models. But if you are going to own any precision tools that is something you should become capable of.

Question:	Has anyone tried planning off paint on cedar with this machine? I have hundreds of feet to recycle
Answer:	yes. I've removed paint and finish with this.. not on cedar, but on mahogany and oak. However, do keep in mind that this will greatly impact the working life of the blades. But that's a small price to pay for such convenience. I say go for it. You'll love the result and it sure beats sanding or scraping with a card scraper.
Question:	Can the in-feed and out-feed rollers or carriage lock be adjusted to reduce snipe
Answer:	Make the last or final pass a very minimul cut depth ie. 1/64. This helps with snipe. The bigger the cut, the more snipe you will get. Make sure the material is support flat against the table as it begins the cut, and on the exit table as well. The pressure rollers tend to make the board 'tip' as it enters and exits (this is typical in any planer, even the big industrial ones found in mill houses). As far as waxing the tables, i much prefer to use a table top silicon type lube usually sold in spray cans at your local wood supply. These leave a non build moisture resistant film that will not only make the table very slick, but leave no waxy residue that can transfer to your lumber and cause finishing issues. Wax that transfers to your lumber can act as a release agent when applying typical lacquer base or poly type finishes. Last but not least, some snipe is considered acceptable from any planer. It's just the way it is. Always start with a board thats a few inches longer than finish length and plan on cutting off the ends. These little planers are better than most, but you can never plan on not haveing some snipe.

Answer:	I'm a hobbyist and have had the DW734 for about a year now. Most of my planning had been hardwoods, Maple, Cherry, Walnut and some Purple Heart. None of them have had complicated figure. The widest board I've run through the machine was about a 9" glue up. I've gotten very good results and virtually no tear out. For my purposes an extra 1/2" in width and 2 speeds wouldn't make any difference in my projects. For me, this was a great buy. Depending on your needs, your results may var :)

Question:	Can it cut 1in thickness
Answer:	Yes. That is what this does. You just need to cut once with another flat guide attached to the log (a board or 2x4 will work in place of the more expensive rails, just don't cut your screws) and then adjust the depth to desired thickness and follow the flat cut for all later cuts.

Answer:	I worked in the "Pulpwood" business for several years. Pine is a very soft wood and you shouldn't have any problems milling it as long as you have a good chainsaw and keep it sharp.

Answer:	At the top the tool is about 10 inches, but I wouldn't attempt anything more than7-8 inches in diameter max. Question:	How hard is it to level the jig when adjusting the side support
Answer:	The bit is capable of being set to the depth of 1/4. I have never personally made a dovetail this small though because I used the jig only a few times and I only worked with soft woods. I believe if hardwoods were being used 1/4 would be adequate depth.
Question:	I looked at the videos. Am I correct in assuming that you have to remove the blade guard in order to use this
Answer:	I believe the bit is a 3/8 dovetail bit. I bought mine when I bought the jig. I would look up the jig on amazon and go to the "people who bought this item often buy..." I think that's how I got mine. Hope this helps.
Question:	What is the absolute minimum thickness the jig will cut? I need to rip 1/4" strips
Answer:	Yes, you can make box joints with the 4210.
Question:	What is the difference between the gr 100 and the gr 200by model and is it worth the price difference
Answer:	I believe it's a 1/2" shank but I'm not absolutely sure. It's in my shop up in CT and I'm in NYC at the moment, so I can't check it. I'll check this weekend and send confirmation. But your router should be able to handle 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" shanks with different collets.
