Question: Will this take paslode or dewalt nails
Answer: It has a no mar tip that is specific to this gun although it takes much less pressure on the tip to shoot the gun compared to other guns
Question: Whats the degre angle on this nailer
Answer: I disagree with the person who said they wont fit a wide face. I need glasses that are wider and with longer temples than normal. These can be adjusted and they fit me great. So if you have a large head, give these a try
Question: Where can you buy the standard no-mar tips for this bostitch btfp71917 nailer
Answer: Our regular safety glasses and safety sunglasses are currently not ANSI Z87.1 certified, but we are looking into the possibility of subjecting the glasses to this certification process in the near future. Question: What is the large black knob for? Can turn right or left
Answer: Red....and the loews model is red .. I have had my gun for a while now...I performs well at the home owwer level..not professional like my old senco.....I don't stand by the old review and would recommend the Hitachi.....thier guns are better quality.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used to face nail natural oak hardwood floors
Answer: Hi oak is hard wood,16g a bit thin nail wise head ok and brown to hide also ordinary nails will rust any form of damp will turn wood around nail black small but to be coincided ,the last thing you want to think of is marking the face,I am only a builder best thing is to ask pro. Floor layer for his advise, me I say no to much of a risk to spoil the face, maybe 14g and stainless steel sorry can't be any more help.PJ.
Question: how to adjust depth of nails
Answer: Tom was going to say read the instruction book page No 9. But maybe it didn't come with book?.sorry that me,on my FN1664. The Dial-A-Depth control adjustment feature is right under the trigger also just that are two funny little figure like nails basic up and down.PJ.
Question: The 1664 nailer won't feed the nails. The driver makes an imprint in the wood, but the nail doesn't feed. Cleaned and oiled. What's next
Answer: assuming the nail is the correct size and length then you probally have part of a nail jammed in the gun. I have had this happen once and had to take the feed assembly apart and off the gun.
Question: Does the item come with a warranty
Answer: I have a complete set of Bostich pneumatic nailers and HAD a Bostich oilless air compressor. The compressor had a 7 year warranty and it didn't last 7 years. I took it back to the store to collect on the warranty and it still cost $60 to have it repaired. Not much of a warranty. Consider how much it costs Bostich to make these in China. They make money on the warranty work. That's why the give a 7 year warranty.

User questions & answers

Question: What's the difference with other same products
Answer: Hello, this was a gift so I'm not sure what the difference is but the person I brought this for swears behind this company name
Question: Can this nailer go through oak - e.g. some oak cove or shoe molding
Answer: This nailer will go through oak but I had to crank up the air pressure to above 95 psi to make sure it set the pins below the surface. Try it out on a piece of scrap and see what it does for you.
Question: gun fires, but nails won't come out. What is the problem
Answer: If the gun sounds like it is firing and no nails are coming out, you need to clear the jamb by removing the front plate. Once clear, the nails should feed. check for gunk on the nails or that it is inserted with the point down. (chisel point is easy to see with a very bright light.)
Question: Why won't the 1/2" pins stay in place when ever you drive one in, next one jumps from groove
Answer: I have used both extremes in pin length, 1 3/16 and the shortest I think was 3/8, all with no problem. If the "next one jumps from the groove" as you say, are the pins still in the colated (glued together) row or have the ones you're using been separated before they were loaded into the nailer. Also are you using Bostitch pins or an off brand? I have always used Bostitch pins and I am careful not to separate them before they go into the nailer. This combination seems to always work fine for me. P.A. Schuster

Answer: No, the nose of the nailer must be depressed to activate the nailer.
Question: My moldings require a very accurate placement of the nail. Will the "smart point" be worth the extra money over other nailers

Question: can i purchase replacement baseplates
Answer: the base plate are non marring for 3/4 and 1/2 inch floors. They are made of some type of vey hard and slick plastic. I uses for prefinished 3/4 inch hardwoods. Not sure of your question, but both come with the tool and you will want one of them on when ever you are laying floors depending on the thickness of your floors.

Answer: We installed 3" wide by 3/4" solid hardwood maple flooring with it and it worked Awesome !
Question: is it for solid harwood flooring
Answer: This tool is intended for the installation of new hardwood flooring, not to repair previously installed flooring, which squeaks, due to warping, or joist sagging. Old flooring will require some other type of repair, such as the use of screws and wood plugs to covers to them, or special ring shank nails.
Question: Will this stop creaks in an old hardwood floor
Answer: Used it to put down a large den floor, worked great! Would buy again!
