Answer:	Yes, has the ability, but doesn't come with it.
Question:	This equipment can cut materials such as steel and aluminum
Answer:	Definitely aluminum, with the right blade. Steel I haven't tried and can't speak to. I'd look up 10" blades that cut steel and if they're compatible with the saw (a hook angle of 5 degrees or less, a 3/8" arbor, an adequate rpm, which I'd have to check...) it should do fine. It's more about the blade and speed than the other components of the saw.FWIW, I love this saw, several years into owning it.
Question:	Will this slide far enough to cut 12" wide material that's say 1/2" or 3/4" thick
Answer:	I think it will only cut 10", but if you are really good with the saw, you can turn the board over and cut the 2" piece that's left on the board. I've never tried it, but maybe someone else has.
Question:	What is the tallest material it will cut? I am using 5 1/4" base and need to be able to do vertical cuts with it (not laid flat
Answer:	I don't think it will cut your 5 1/4" base vertical. I used it to cut 4" base with no problem. The blade rises to just over 6" clearance, but it appears that coming down the top of the base would hit the arbor before the blade cut through to the bottom. But this is just eyeballing it, not actual application.

Answer:	There is no built in clamp.
Question:	How can you attach a temporary wood fence for clamping on a work stop? It look like you can't attach on the right
Answer:	Mounting holes are provided in all four feet to facilitate bench mounting. There are round countersunk holes for use with screws and square holes for use with the miter saw stand "carraige bolt" or M8 (5/16") or smaller bolts. Use either hole, it is not necessary to use both. Always mount your saw firmly to prevent movement. To enhance the tool’s portability, it can be mounted to a piece of 1/2" (12.7 mm) or thicker plywood which can then be clamped to your work support or moved to other job sites and reclamped. NOTE: If you elect to mount your saw to a piece of plywood, make sure that the mounting screws don’t protrude from the bottom of the wood. The plywood must sit flush on the work support. When clamping the saw to any work surface, clamp only on the clamping bosses where the mounting screw holes are located. Clamping at any other point will surely interfere with the proper operation of the saw. CAUTION: To prevent binding and inaccuracy, be sure the mounting surface is not warped or otherwise uneven. If the saw rocks on the surface place a thin piece of material under one saw foot until the saw sits firmly on the mounting surface. Be sure all blade and blade clamps are clean, recessed sides of blade clamps are against blade and arbor screw is tightened securely. Answer:	Yes, the blade will cut aluminum; however, is not designed for aluminum and I'm sure there are some pieces of aluminum, such as very thick pieces that could destroy the blade or the saw. Look for a blade better suited to the material you are intending to cut.
Question:	Can I cut 4x4 stock with this in a single pass
Answer:	Yes. That would be completely within the capabilities of this saw. I used this model to cut 4x4 for legs of a table just a month ago no problem.

Answer:	These stops are the same as the ones for Ridgid R4221. Ridgid stops are #HM-0890410228721 sold by Parts Warehouse. After careful measuring both saws for placement of stops these fit the saw perfectly. The Knob Thumb screw is an M8 thread(Metric). Same thread on the Dewalt. I know I checked at HD on a dewalt. They also come with clip nuts, you can drill a hole and use these to secure the the crown stop.Trust me these work. Heavy duty also

Question:	Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number
Answer:	I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20

Answer:	mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world.

Answer:	It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps!

Answer:	You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add.
