Mars-Tool Solid Carbide Drill Bits are very different from carbide tipped drill bits.
Solid carbide drill bits are much more effective in deep holes,
can go through hardened steel,
have much better heat tolerance and
can be sharpened many times (diamond stone is required to sharpen tungsten carbide)

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you re sharpen these carbide bits with a drill doctor |
Answer: | Yes. With a diamond wheel, Drill Doctor will sharpen these solid carbide bits |
Question: | Need to drill through welded up holes with precision for auto-body moldings. You figure these will do the trick or? Think they'll shred the paint |
Answer: | I don’t have experience drilling through paint, so I can’t be 100% certain. But these bits are very sharp, and drilling through steel I get clean precise holes. They’ll cut through en hardened steel pretty well. They are also very hard - carbide bits are easy to break. Go slow, use tapping or cutting oil if you can, and keep the drill perpendicular to the workpiece. If you twist or torque the bit it will probably break. |
Question: | did anybody tried this on AR500 steel or similar very strong steel |
Answer: | Yes, it cuts better than any other material I've found. However, carbide is VERY brittle, so the alignment of the point of engagement, and maintenance of concentricity with the intended hole are vital. These will chip or break much more easily than the typical HSS(high speed steel) drill bits. |
Question: | Is there an optimal spindle speed for drilling hard steel, or the lower the speed the better |
Answer: | I am not 100 % certain. My battery drill has 10 settings (the lower setting are really just for use as a screw driver) and I normally set it near the higher end and it works well with these bits. My corded drill has three settings and these bits cut through everything (including hardened tool steel) at any setting. |

Question: | Does it work with dremel |
Answer: | Check your phone for messages or emails and could be coming in the next shipment or, due to human error was delivered somewhere else. |
Question: | Where is the rest of my order |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Will they work on aluminium |
Answer: | Not sure of the grit or grade of coatings but all three are the same. When I purchased them I thought they were different. No remorse though as I imagine some will break or wear out or get lost. Still pleased with my purchase. |
Question: | What grit are they? Is each set the same grit or three different grit sets |
Answer: | These tools are made for 15000 RPM and to a Maximum of 35000 RPM range. Your hand drill has a maximum of 1200 to 3500 RPM. They will fit but the user will struggle to maintain control of either the drill or the material being cut. Note: it may be possible to cut and remove material from balsa wood, or styrofoam withe these bits, but I wouldn't recommend it. User questions & answers
Question: | Need to drill 30 screw holes in plexiglass and Lexan panels, will the bit last through 30 holes and do I need to cool bit while using |
Answer: | You're better off with regular drill bits you wouldn't want to use this type of drill bit with diamond bits it will cause additional heat and melt the plastic vs. drill through cleanly. These are a very abrasive way of drilling and only used for masonry or actual glass. |
Question: | Do these work with a dremel tool? Some of them look very small |
Answer: | The two larger bits do fit my old Dremel with a smaller chuck. The 1.5 mm fits the chuck on my drill press. Alas, the 1 mm needs a small chuck and the two I have bought from Amazon are tedious to align and do not work very well. Frankly, you would probably promptly break both the 1.5 and 1 mm in a Dremel because they are so delicate and need precise alignment for drilling. I have used all the bits with a drill press (with PLENTY of water and SLOOOW pressure) and they work great. One broke simply because I moved the vise and snapped it off. I broke a 2 mm, but simply used the broken bit for another bunch of holes. Broke again and I am now using a stub and it works just fine. Obviously, not deep holes! Drilling on polished rocks of different varieties. Work great. |
Question: | New to the dremel scene. how come every time i buy dremel bits they don't fit my dremel head they fall out!! what part am i missing??? help please |
Answer: | You need to buy a different Collet . Take your Dremmel tool and the bit you want to use to Lows. The salesman will help you buy the collet that you need |
Question: | I am looking for diamond bits to drill holes in 6mm glass for jewelry. Would these work |
Answer: | tThey are awesome, one trick to keep them from over heating and dulling, find u a stainless steel pan cover what u r drilling with water, then drill. the drill bits will last a long time, i have used them on steel when i make weapons to,water keeps them cooled down. they are a great set of bits. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work with quartz countertop |
Answer: | According to the Mohs Hardness scale, Glass is a hardness of 4, Quartz is a hardness of 7, and Diamond is a hardness of 10. The process is not actually cutting, but rather abrading, as the "cutting" edge grinds it's way through the material. Diamond coated tools will easily go through Quartz; just take your time and only apply gentle pressure and plenty of water to keep the blade cool and remove the Quartz particulate so the work area doesn't sludge up. |
Question: | Will this cut 1/2" safety glass |
Answer: | Dear valued customer Greeting! Yes, the diamond hole saw can cut 1/2" safety glass. Warmest regards StarQualityBargain Team |
Question: | Why are these called "diamond hole saws" if they are made of corundum? corundum is not diamond |
Answer: | Thank you for inquiry. The glass hole saw was coated diamond on the head for superior cutting strength. The description has been revised, thank you for your kindly reminding. |
Question: | Do these go into a standard drill |
Answer: | Dear valued customer Greeting! The diamond drill bits are compatible with most drills Warmest regards, StarQualityBargain Team |

User questions & answers
Question: | What grit are these |
Answer: | I am not familiar with grit except for sandpaper. I have purchased these 3 times. I use them for drilling glass. They are a mixed bag. One bit will do 25+ pieces of glass and another bit will break after i drill just a few. For the price i cannot complain. Seems the smallest bits are most fragile. I use them with my dremel flex shaft, not just attached to the dremel, which was a disaster. Hope it helps. |
Question: | why does this not ship to canada |
Answer: | contact Amazon for their policies |
Question: | Can these drill into glass products other than seaglass? I would assume so but wanted to check for something such as glass bottles |
Answer: | Jacob, I haven't tried drilling into glass with these. They are quite tiny in their circumference and I was worried that they could do the job on glass, so I ordered Dremel compatible larger diamond bits that are designed to drill glass, tile, and stone from DiamondBurs.Net LLC and they work great on wine bottles! |
Question: | Can they be used on rock? Would like to make small holes in rocks (difrent kinds) to make jewelry |
Answer: | Not sure. we used our set on ocean shells to make holes for jewelry. these shells are about 1/8" thick. we used a dremel housed in a Dremel 220-01 Multi-Purpose Articulation Workstation. without the workstation the bit slides around too much. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this used in a rotary drill or a specialized tool |
Answer: | Use any standard rotary drill at medium-low speed with plenty of water for cooling. No hammer drill; that will crack any ceramic/marble/granite. |
Question: | Specifications says 1/4" drilling debth. How did you make it work for your granite that is 1.5" thick |
Answer: | I'm not the 1.5" granite person, but I went through a 1 1/8" quartz countertop. I don't know why it says 1/4" drilling depth in the specs; the depth of the inside is 1 1/8" so that is the max depth you can go. Like the 1.5" granite person, I used a wood piece to hold it in place to get it started, then just kept water on it as I drilled. It took a long time; rocking back and forth a little helped as the bit dulled. Even with the 1 1/8" countertop I couldn't get all the way through so I had to tap the plug out and live with a little bit of ragged edge on the underside of the quartz. One more thing: if I had to do it again I would buy two bits and swap halfway through when the first one got dull. |
Question: | What depth will this drill through? I'm going through a countertop that is just over an inch thick |
Answer: | I use it to drill through glass bottles, so I cannot give you an exact answer, but I just measured the length of the bit at 1 and 3/16 inches. So, it might just work. |
Question: | I need to drill thru a 1 1/2" GRANITE kitchen top, is this the right tool |
Answer: | This is a diamond-tipped core bit. I used this exact bit to drill several holes through 3/8" thick marble (fragile). I would use it for quartz or granite, but it will be IMPERATIVE to keep the drill speed low, and to keep the bit submerged in water by making a clay ring "pool" around the drill area. I also would make a double-thick "X" out of duct-tape to protect the surface should the bit "walk" when you begin drilling. Use both hands on the drill and brace your arms as you start at a 45 degree angle to cut through the duct-tape and into the granite. You should be forming a "crescent" on the surface, at which point you can gradually move the drill vertical. Light pressure, medium-low speed, keep it cool with the pool, and refresh the water as you see fit. Good luck and have fun. |

- 【Wide Usage】Used on Drill Glass,Wood,Tile Bottles,Blocks Jars, Ceramic,Slate Mable, Granite Light Stone, and other hard surfaces
- 【Attention】Please keep adding water when the diamond drill bits are working on the glass or ceramics.low drill pressure and increased use of water lubrication will extend drill bit life.
User questions & answers
Question: | Is there an available guide for this tool |
Answer: | Not that I know of, I found cutting thru brick I had to take it slow. I just tipped the cutting tool slightly till I had started a slight half circle then was able to hold to start the full circle. I was very surprised that it did a nice job cutting thru the brick half at a time |
Question: | Can this diamond drill bits be used for concrete |
Answer: | Sorry, can't be used in concrete |
Question: | Does this tool work with wood |
Answer: | I would not use it for wood...it is designed for glass, acrylic marble etc... |
Question: | Will these fit and work with a dremel |
Answer: | I used a cordless drill. It would not fit my dremel. Also, I felt that I head better control cutting the stained glass with the cordless drill. |

Question: | Will this drill through stainless steel sink under the granite |
Answer: | I used mine to drill through subway tile in the shower stall. It made short work of that but for stainless steal you better talk to a plumber or plumbing supply. |
Question: | What is the id depth |
Answer: | It would be about 1-1/4 inches deep inside the hole saw |
Question: | Will it cut through clay house bricks? I understand I will have to break out the core left in the brick to get the necessary depth |
Answer: | I'm sure it will. It cuts through porcelain tile, which is much harder. It will get dull much faster than a carbide tipped drill bit, which I think would be a better option for drilling through brick. |
Question: | Can this bit used for drilling wallboard and wood |
Answer: | This bit is made specifically for drilling (grinding really) in stone products. There are many other hole saws listed on Amazon, made for use on wood, and most likely would be a little less expensive also. |
