Answer:	If the gears are coming loose, I recommend you return it and get a different one. I love mine and the only trouble I have is what I create when I don't hold the yarn right and it starts winding around the gears at the bottom. Luckily I catch it soon and unwind so I can continue making a beautiful cake. I've found if I turn the crank with my right hand and hold the string of yarn I'm feeding it up high and somewhat away from me and to the left a bit, it will wind perfectly every time..

Answer:	You do realize that there is no such thing as "double jointed"? You may have arthritis in the joint. Granted some people have hypermobility syndrome it could also be a ligament problem or combination of these things. You might want to Google "double jointed"

I've found this handle to be extremely useful and now own 5 of them so I don't have to change hooks as much but it's very easy to change to any hook from size B to K. I hope this helps.
