Answer:	Typically you would use 1:8 for hardwood and 1:6 for softwood. Some experts figured those were ideal for strength but in reality you can pretty much use what you think think looks best

Answer:	This tool cuts the recess for most sizes of dovetail jaws. There are markings on the tool specific to 50mm (2") and 100mm (4") jaws, but you could use this for other sizes as well.

Answer:	I sharpened it by using the edge of an upright belt sander. I used 120 grit on the machine and basically tried to follow the contour of the chisel holding it freehand. I did not use a jig but used light pressure and checked the edge frequently. It actually turned out cutting better than it did when I received it out of the box. if you find a better way, please let me know. Ray

Answer:	The tool is for creating an inside dovetail that matches the dovetail on the chuck jaws. For this purpose it is a great tool. I'm pretty sure you could make outside dovetails on a tenon but I have no experience with this application.

Answer:	It's mostly used for cutting hollow recesses in your bowl bottom for using the expanding feature of the Nova Chuck Jaws.. The tool shaft has markings for sizing holes for the standard 2" (50mm) and 4" (100mm) jaws for easy sizing, and the dovetail cut will cut the sides at the correct angle so the jaws expand for the most surface contact. A very helpful tool if you are doing bowls mounted to the chuck with a recessed bottom.

Answer:	When measured with a digital caliper, the result was 0.02 inches or 0.5 mm if measuring the width of the blade at the saw teeth, however, the steel sheet itself is thinner, measuring around 0.01 inches or 0.25 mm. It's difficult to tell exactly as the blade is flexible, but I would expect your cut would be the same as the width at the saw teeth.
