12 best dovetail tools
Dovetail tools are specialized woodworking tools used for creating dovetail joints, which are commonly used in woodworking to join two pieces of wood at right angles. Dovetail joints are known for their strength and resistance to pulling apart. Here's what you should know about dovetail tools:
Dovetail Joint: A dovetail joint consists of a series of interlocking, wedge-shaped tails on one piece of wood and corresponding pins or sockets on the other. When assembled, these tails and pins create a tight and strong joint.
Dovetail Saws: Dovetail saws are small, fine-toothed hand saws designed for making precise cuts when creating dovetail joints. They have a narrow blade and a thin kerf, making it easier to create the intricate cuts needed for dovetails.
Dovetail Jigs: Dovetail jigs are tools used with a router to create dovetail joints. They guide the router to make precise cuts, allowing woodworkers to produce dovetail joints quickly and accurately. There are various types of dovetail jigs available, including both handheld and table-mounted options.
Chisels: Chisels are essential tools for cleaning up and refining the surfaces of dovetail joints. Woodworkers use chisels to remove excess material and achieve a precise fit between the dovetail pins and tails.
Marking and Layout Tools: Marking and layout tools such as marking gauges, marking knives, and dovetail markers are used to accurately mark the location and angles of dovetail cuts on the wood.
Clamps: Clamps are often used to hold the workpieces securely in place during the dovetail cutting and assembly process. This ensures that the joints fit tightly and accurately.
Materials: Dovetail tools are typically used with a variety of wood types, including hardwoods like oak and walnut, as well as softwoods like pine. The choice of wood can impact the appearance and strength of the dovetail joint.
Skill and Precision: Creating dovetail joints requires a certain level of woodworking skill and precision. It is a traditional woodworking technique that is often associated with craftsmanship and quality.
Dovetail joints are commonly used in furniture making, cabinetry, and other woodworking projects where strong and aesthetically pleasing joints are desired. The choice of dovetail tools and techniques may vary depending on the specific project and the woodworker's skill level.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas documents in rousing song and dance a new Texas Legend, which now joins the Alamo as a historical institution immortalized in story, song, book, play and movie. The demise of the real-life Chicken Ranch inspired the musical stage play, and now the big screen version stars Burt Reynolds as Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd and Dolly Parton as the Chicken Ranch’s proprietress, Miss Mona. The two join together not only in romance, but to fight big city TV crusader Melvin P. Thorpe (Dom DeLuise) in his efforts to expose the Chicken Ranch to public scandal, and thus close it down.

Explore the ancient power of the Moon and how to work with this Lunar energy to enrich your own life and spiritual practice.
We are moon-influenced animals even if most of us don’t go howling under it. We know the feminine fertility cycle matches the length of the lunar cycle – twenty-seven or twenty-eight days – and that more births occur on full and dark moons. Just as the moon influences tides and other bodies of water, why wouldn’t she influence our personal bodies of water considering we are made mostly of it? Why wouldn’t this effect then influence everything from our weight to our moods, even the growth of the foods we eat since plants are reliant upon moisture levels in the soil?
Within long-held knowledge, it’s believed that the moon impacts our psychic abilities and our unconscious mind (and so therefore our dream states) in a number of ways. The unconscious is the part of the mind that directs us towards our goals and dreams; it’s where ideas pop from and where creativity is based. As it is particularly susceptible to symbology, it can be affected by the power of the constant cycle of the moon.
Creation
You can create your own destiny. Be industrious. Every creature on Earth creates. You should welcome the process of creation. Save money and time. Have a reserve.
There is a good reason for the saying ‘busy as a beaver’, for the beaver is truly an industrious animal. Not only do they create sophisticated architectural lodges (their semi-submersible homes), but they change the course of rivers and waterways through strategic damning. They create new environments for themselves and other animals.
Resistance
Familiarise yourself with how resistance manifests for you, the overt and the covert. If you continue to have doors slammed in your face, turn around; there will normally be an open door. Procrastination is just another kind of fear. Move forward with confidence and persistence.
There are two kinds of resistance. The first type we encounter when we keep getting obstacles placed in our way or our way is blocked. For example, we try to get a particular job in a particular field, but no matter what we do it doesn’t happen. This is external or overt resistance.
Nourishment
Choose to nourish your mind, body and spirit. Feed your values. When you are jealous or envious, it is a sign of what you are actually hungering for. Pay attention to your health.
All of us have a set of values that are as individual as our fingerprints. Sometimes we aren’t sure what they might be if asked, but unconsciously we know. How do we know? Because if our values are not being met or lived, we rebel. We get angry, sad, depressed, irritable or stuck or we take the chaotic choice in our decision-making, and commonly our relationships and life are not harmonious
Balance
Seek balance. Extremes of anything are rarely healthy or useful. There may be an over-reaction that has caused the issue. Ground yourself and allow your strength to rise from there. Be aware of where the imbalances in your life are at present.
Working with the lunar cycle on a regular basis helps us actually experience the flow and balance of nature. The moon shows us the gradual and peaceful process of waxing and waning and the phases of perfect balance within. Our bodies, our minds and our human spirit seek balance, yet perfect balance is almost impossible to achieve.
How to Use the Cards
If this deck is to be used for divination, I suggest first you dedicate or bless your cards; I have included a small ritual on page 16 if you do not already have your own in mind. This enlivens the cards and connects you with the energy of the seasons and the moon, and with the intention of the deck itself.
Second, spread the whole deck out on a table or the floor or, better still, the Earth! Breathe deeply and relax. Allow your gaze to soften, and see which cards seem more attractive to you. Which ones jump out at you or call to you in some way?
I call this the pantheon technique. These may well be the moon phases or aspects of the deck that you need to integrate into your life right now, or the themes that can most assist your growth at this time. You will be attracted to them, and the card may almost jump into your hand.
Pay attention to those cards and take action if it is indicated.
The Magician
The Seeker has now found the tools and inspiration to become The Magician. Strange and wonderful things occur in The Magician's laboratory as he creates new and unusual inventions such as plants with wings and antlers, an electrical mind-reading hat, and an extra leg, just in case. The Magician has innovative ways of seeing and knowing through the act of creation and blends science and spirituality seamlessly.
The High Priestess
The High Priestess holds secrets and sacred knowledge in her Book of Shadows. She is the keeper of personal experience as well as knowledge shared and passed down through many generations so that others may understand the world unseen, She is at home in nature and loves the mysteries of the universe, especially in the evening. The antlers in her crown assist her with receiving and sharing sacred messages.
The Empress
After understanding the inner realms, The Empress is the next card on the journey. The Empress is pictured as a dryad or tree spirit who represents birth, life, and death. She offers her body as a refuge for all life and represents all that is cyclic in nature. As as Earth mother, she is accepting and nurturing of all creatures and plants equally and invites flowers to bloom and bunnies to frolic at her feet as readily as she welcomes the monsters and spiders of Shadowland to join her.
The Emperor
After understanding nurturing and life cycles, The Emperor appears to show us how to understand authority and healthy power dynamics. He is holding a staff of office gifted to him by the community, and he proudly holds it to remember the sacrifices of his ancestors and to show his respect for their wisdom passed down to him. He has earned his respect because of his devotion to his community and his ability to make difficult decisions during stressful times.

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you use the divetail marker |
Answer: | Typically you would use 1:8 for hardwood and 1:6 for softwood. Some experts figured those were ideal for strength but in reality you can pretty much use what you think think looks best |
Question: | is there a bigger size of dove tail jaw s |
Answer: | This tool cuts the recess for most sizes of dovetail jaws. There are markings on the tool specific to 50mm (2") and 100mm (4") jaws, but you could use this for other sizes as well. |
Question: | Hi. I was wondering how to best sharpen this tool. Looking forward to your replies |
Answer: | I sharpened it by using the edge of an upright belt sander. I used 120 grit on the machine and basically tried to follow the contour of the chisel holding it freehand. I did not use a jig but used light pressure and checked the edge frequently. It actually turned out cutting better than it did when I received it out of the box. if you find a better way, please let me know. Ray |
Question: | Can you make both an inside and an outside dovetail with this tool |
Answer: | The tool is for creating an inside dovetail that matches the dovetail on the chuck jaws. For this purpose it is a great tool. I'm pretty sure you could make outside dovetails on a tenon but I have no experience with this application. |
Question: | how to use the dove tail teknatool |
Answer: | It's mostly used for cutting hollow recesses in your bowl bottom for using the expanding feature of the Nova Chuck Jaws.. The tool shaft has markings for sizing holes for the standard 2" (50mm) and 4" (100mm) jaws for easy sizing, and the dovetail cut will cut the sides at the correct angle so the jaws expand for the most surface contact. A very helpful tool if you are doing bowls mounted to the chuck with a recessed bottom. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What it the pitch (teeth per inch |
Answer: | 17 TPI |
Question: | what is the thickness of the blade |
Answer: | When measured with a digital caliper, the result was 0.02 inches or 0.5 mm if measuring the width of the blade at the saw teeth, however, the steel sheet itself is thinner, measuring around 0.01 inches or 0.25 mm. It's difficult to tell exactly as the blade is flexible, but I would expect your cut would be the same as the width at the saw teeth. |
Question: | Looking for an alternative to my chop saw for baseboards. Would this work easily |
Answer: | get a simple miter box and a Japanese pull saw without a back.... works great.... ive done it for years... its so much more convenient than going to the miter saw for every cut.... just stay put |
Question: | Are replacement blades available for this model? If so which one |
Answer: | Yes |

Do you know about a “Japanese Pull Saw“?
Japanese saws cut materials via pulling and thus are called “pull saws.” It requires less power, realizes exceedingly smooth and accurate cut, and results that the cutting-section is clean. And particularly this saw's blade is sharper and thinner, and has a greater number of teeth per inch than comparable saws of its size.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the black box in center with two holes used for? Other than holding the jig where you want it |
Answer: | 5/16" diameter. Just under 8" long. |
Question: | Are the different ratio's for different angles, obviously what one to use, same one all the way through |
Answer: | The dovetail guide, itself, is aluminum, the support piece that is attached with screws to the Dovetail looks like Brass. I see no stainless steel, but there may be. None of device is magnetic, as tested with my neodymium magnet. |
Question: | are there instructions included for this |
Answer: | This would be anti glare |
Question: | Are the holes in the middle also intended for dovetail cuts? Trying to find the 1:6 ratio |
Answer: | Not the ones we bought. We would not buy them if it did, preferring the flexibility of a separate camera. But the monitor itself is really nice. |
