14 best tactical force knives
Tactical force knives are a subset of folding knives that are designed for a wide range of applications, including everyday carry (EDC), outdoor activities, self-defense, and general utility. These knives are known for their robust construction, versatile features, and compact design, making them a popular choice among individuals in various fields. Here are some key aspects related to tactical force knives:
Design and Construction: Tactical force knives are typically foldable, allowing them to be easily carried in a pocket or attached to a belt or gear. They are constructed with durability in mind, often featuring high-quality materials such as stainless steel or carbon steel for the blade and sturdy handle materials like G-10, aluminum, or titanium.
Blade Types: Tactical force knives come in various blade types, each suited for different purposes. Common blade styles include tanto, drop point, spear point, and serrated edges. Users can choose the blade type that best fits their intended tasks.
One-Handed Operation: Many tactical force knives are designed for one-handed deployment, featuring thumb studs, flipper tabs, or assisted opening mechanisms. This allows for quick and easy access to the blade when needed, making them useful for self-defense situations.
Locking Mechanisms: Safety is paramount, so tactical force knives often incorporate reliable locking mechanisms to prevent accidental closure of the blade during use. Common locking mechanisms include liner locks, frame locks, and axis locks.
Handle Ergonomics: The handle design of these knives focuses on ergonomics and user comfort. Textured grips, finger grooves, and contoured handles ensure a secure hold, even in challenging conditions.
Pocket Clips: Many tactical force knives feature reversible pocket clips, allowing users to carry the knife tip-up or tip-down, depending on their preference. This versatility ensures ease of access and discreet carry.
Versatility: Tactical force knives are versatile tools that can be used for a wide range of tasks, including cutting rope, opening packages, preparing food, and even self-defense in emergency situations.
Deployment Speed: The quick deployment of these knives is a key feature, as it can be crucial in self-defense scenarios. Assisted opening mechanisms, such as spring-assisted or flipper designs, enhance the speed of blade deployment.
Blade Coating and Finishes: Tactical force knives often come with various blade coatings and finishes, such as black oxide, titanium nitride, or stonewash. These coatings can enhance corrosion resistance and add a tactical aesthetic.
Brand Variety: Several well-known brands specialize in producing high-quality tactical force knives. Some notable manufacturers include Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, Cold Steel, and SOG, among others.
In summary, tactical force knives are versatile folding knives designed for EDC, outdoor activities, self-defense, and general utility. They are known for their durable construction, one-handed operation, secure locking mechanisms, and ergonomic handles. The choice of a tactical force knife depends on the user's specific needs and preferences, as well as the intended applications for which the knife will be used.

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this knife (and the family of knives) compare with a Kershaw |
Answer: | Made in China (sorry). |
Question: | well i just recieved one, and i opened it and i cant get it to close |
Answer: | Not sure what blade is but I don't recommend. Got dull very quick plus the lock to hold blade stopped working after about 2 months of everyday use. I just recently purchased Kershaw knife much better. I have only had a month but use constantly blade is still holding strong. Sometimes get what you pay for Kershaw was about 30 dollars more worth every penny |
Question: | How to close the knife? I opened it and seems it's stuck. Thanks |
Answer: | Extremely. Very comfortable. I've washed it a few times forgetting it was in my pants. |
Question: | The product description describes this as "spring assisted" which is tecnically "switch blade" so I was wondering if this is legal in all states |
Answer: | No, it is not. You either use your thumb to open the knife, or press down on the back of the assisting lever and flick your wrist. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the blade double edged |
Answer: | no it's not double edged, but I got as a gift for a friend and he loves it. it was alot nicer than I thought when I got it. |
Question: | Is the grip and lock good |
Answer: | Yes, the lock stays in place well even with semi-large amounts of stress on the knife. I stabbed an apple and it sliced clean through without much difficulty. It's super sharp so be careful and feels nice to hold. |
Question: | Is this mechanism or spring assisted |
Answer: | This is spring-assisted and like all spring-assisted knives, the amount of tension applied to the knife base by the support screw determines how easily or quickly the blade will open. What you need to get is an inexpensive screwdriver & bit set (I got one from Walmart for $6.00) that has at a minimum, T9 and T-10 Torx bits, aka "Star bits." The rest of the screwdriver & bit set will contain the usual flat head and Phillips head bits as well as hex head and square head bits. I've found that in 8 of the 10 knives I've purchased from Amazon use the T-10 screws. Of the remaining two, one uses a T-9 screw while the % other has a T-9 on one side and a T-10 on the other (that require adjustments on both sides of the blade handle). I also recommend getting some good gun lube or gun oil, loosening the set screws just enough to allow for the oil or lube to flow in between the blade and the handle, then tighten it incrementally by frequently checking the tension when flipping the knife blade open. Also, grab the flat of the blade in one hand and the handle in the other. Wiggle the knife blade left and right and tighten the screws until there is no more "wiggle room" and the blade still opens smoothly. |
Question: | Blade length? I would like to know the exact size please. Legality concerns for my state. Not full length of the knife, just the blade length |
Answer: | Overall Length : 7.75 inchesBlade Lenght : 3.25 InchesHandle Material : AluminumBlade Material : Stainless SteelFinger ring gripBlack Pocket Clip |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these knives legal in the state of Florida |
Answer: | I've had many many Kershaw blades and have had many failures with them also because I use my knives often. The screws come out, the steel is weak, the blades get loose and the tips break. So I buy knives every few months. If this one will hold up 6 months, I'll be satisfied and buy another for $6.80. |
Question: | My blade is stuck open what can i do |
Answer: | On the top of the handle near the blade's hilt or pivot screw there should be a raised nub of metal with lines going across. Pull rearward on this with your index finger to open the knife. Unlike a switchblade where the knife blade is ejected from inside the handle of the knife, these blades pivot open in an arc from the handle. To close the knife there is a piece of the underside of the knife integrated with the handle that locks the blade in place. You must push this piece to the left with your thumb while simultaneously pushing the blade toward you with your index finger. One the blade is at a right angle to the handle move your thumb to the back of the blade and continue to pull it toward you until it is safely inside the handle. Note this is a guide. Not responsible if you cut yourself by coming in contact with the blade. |
Question: | Is this spring assisted when opening |
Answer: | Within the sleeve there is a lever that locks it into an open position...push it to the left and close the blade. |
Question: | what degree angle are the blades from the factory |
Answer: | I Think this should answer your question. (I found this on wildbillwholesale.com)Switchblade knives were invented in the early part of the 20th century. During the 1950's the switchblade got a bad reputation as it was identified with gangs which were popularized by such movies as "On the Waterfront", etc. As a result in the late 1950's most states passed laws outlawing the possession of switchblade knives. A Federal statute was passed to make it unlawful to ship switchblades across state lines, unless being shipped to a law enforcement or military agency. Here we will explain the difference between illegal switchblade knives, and legal spring assisted opening knives. All switchblades have some characteristics in common. They have a spring which exerts constant pressure on the blade. The knife is held in the closed position by the mechanism of the knife. This mechanism is released by depressing the button (which all switchblades have), allowing the stored energy the spring is exerting on the blade to propel the blade from the handle and open the knife. It is important to remember that the natural position of the switchblade knife is OPEN, it is held closed only by the locking mechanism. On the other hand, the natural position of the spring assisted opening knife is CLOSED. There is no pressure being exerted upon the blade, and there is no button to push. Spring assisted knives employ the following opening methods:1) A "Flipper" or lever which is located on the back spine of the knife. This flipper is actually an integral part of the blade which protrudes from the back spine of the knife when it is in the closed position. This is the most common opening mechanism of spring assisted knives.2). A thumb stud, the same as is found on most all tactical folding knives. In either case, either flicking the "flipper" or pushing out the thumb stud begins opening the blade, at which point the assisted opening mechanism takes over and finishes opening the blade. Performance wise, there is very little (if any) difference in the opening speed of a switchblade and a spring assisted knife. However, the differences in the way they are made make the spring assisted knives legal in all 50 U.S. states (They are not legal in the 5 boroughs of New York City, but this is because all locking blade knives have been held to be illegal in NYC, not just the spring assisted ones) |

User questions & answers
Question: | what type of steel is the blade |
Answer: | yes, these knives follow State rules |
Question: | How do you close the knife |
Answer: | Closing the blade is tougher than other knives I have. You probably know that you must push the serrated blade-open lock when the blade is open and lying on its back. Push the lock to the left until the blade clears and can be shut. Other knives can be unlocked with a finger pad but I notice this knife lock requires pushing aside with a thumbnail. |
Question: | what is the dimension of the blade |
Answer: | Hi, you have to pull it open a bit and then it sort of springs open about 1/2 way, hope this helps |
Question: | Is this knife spring assisted |
Answer: | No angle It’s straight out |

Product description
The Special Forces G10 models share a unique design offering a combination of Carson M16 Series features requested by military procurement specialists. The dual grind Tanto blades were specified because they offer maximum strength. The open build allows two Carson Flippers to be incorporated, resulting in a true hilt— very rare in folding knives.
The M16-14SFG Big Dog G10 is our hefty utility version, with a 3.99" dual grind Tanto blade and full-size handle with butt pommel.
Blade, frame and hardware are non-reflective tactical black. The blade receives a black titanium nitride coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Kit's trademark dual checkered thumb studs are standard. One-hand opening and closing is quick and smooth.
It also features our automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Want one of the most secure safety systems on the market? The choice is automatic.
Our G10 model features scales of black G10, stainless steel liners with friction grooves, and a premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel blade with our Combination patented Veff Serrations. G10 is often preferred for its aggressive gripping texture, light weight and superior insulating properties.
All knives in this series are equipped with clip options that allow four-position carry on belts or webbing. Caution: These knives are not designed for tip-up in-pocket carry. They are special knives, designed by the military for special forces use.

The Knife That Changed Everything
Few at CRKT still remember the day that Kit Carson revealed his original M16 design. Those that do knew right away that it was something special.
The anatomy of the M16 and the Carson Flipper are both now mainstays of the M16 design. The Carson Flipper ultimately earned him a spot in the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame. In the end, though, Kit’s memory is eternalized in his dedication to his craft, service to our country, and the number of lives he impacted along the way.
Iconic Handle Design
Universally recognizable, the bored holes in the face of each M16 handle sets it apart from other knifes in the industry. The shapely ergonomic design makes for a bomber grip amid rain, grit, and grime.
Carson Flipper Opening
True to its tactical nature, the Carson Flipper balances performance and safety. Light pressure rapidly deploys the blade. Once open, the flipper becomes a blade guard to protect digits in hard-use situations.
Veff Serrations
Some hone edges. Others, like “Edgeologist” Tom Veff, reinvent them. These patented Veff Serrations makes for superior cutting of cordage, rope, and fibrous materials.
Automated Liner Safety
When open, this next-level safety innovation sets a pin between the liner and the frame to keep it super secure while it’s in use. Closing is just as simple—move the red pin aside and push back the liner as usual.

After the industry fell in love with the unique design and powerful usability, the M21 was born, affirming Kit’s place among the greatest knife designers to ever take on the challenge of designing a tactically-inspired EDC.
The anatomy of the M21 and his Carson Flipper—both notable aspects of the M16—are now mainstays of the M21 design. In the end, though, Kit’s memory is eternalized in his dedication to his craft, service to our country, and the number of lives he impacted along the way.
Iconic Handle Design
Bored holes in the face of each M21 handle sets it apart.
Protects Fingers
When open, the Carson Flipper becomes a blade guard.
Slices Through Fibers
Both plain edge blades and Veff Serrations make quick work of fibrous materials.
Automated Liner Safety

Kit began designing and creating custom knives mere months before he was drafted. After he retired as a ranking Master Sergeant, he dove back into his craft with renewed inspiration and creativity which ultimately earned him a spot in the esteemed Knifemakers’ Guild. Inducted into the Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2012, Kit’s industry influence was felt far and wide. He even mentored such greats as Ken Onion. Kit passed in 2014, and leaves a powerful legacy behind.

Question: | Where is this knife manufactured? I have heard that most fixed blade SOG knives are made it Taiwan, and prefer American made |
Answer: | Yes! I ordered it for my 4 year old niece last month (Dec 2019) and it had duplicate pieces and missing pieces! I called Hasbro and the customer service was helpful. They offered to send another game with the appropriate pieces (but I'm still waiting). |

SOG SHAPE + SERRATION. The Seal Pup features a partially serrated blade for quick, clean edge cuts and a clip-point design for better piercing-style cuts that would make Jim Bowie proud. It also boasts a glass-reinforced nylon (GRN) handle, aggressively checkered for an unsurpassed grip.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the sheath 100% nylon or is there a platic gaurd of somesort inside the sheath to keep the blade from cutting through the nylon |
Answer: | No it is not spring assisted, it opens as though it is. Its a great knife and it opens with the flick of a finger. |
Question: | How big is the belt loop for the sheath |
Answer: | With knife in hand and blade down there is a red round lever on the right side. Pull that back and then slide the blade lock from where the blade folds to at the same time. And presto its closed. |
Question: | Can you buy a hard style sheath for it |
Answer: | From their website: "This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship. If one of our knives ever breaks or fails because of material or manufacturing defect, we’ll repair or replace the knife. This warranty runs as long as you own your knife. Coverage ends if you sell or otherwise transfer the knife to someone else, or if your CRKT® knife is modified in any way. This warranty does not cover breakage or failure due to misuse of the knife. Knives as good as ours rarely break or fail because of a defect. Usually they break or fail from what we call “tool abuse”—using them for unsuitable tasks like prying or pounding. Therefore, blade tip breakage is not covered by our warranty. Use of a knife for any purpose other than cutting voids the warranty. (The exceptions to this caution are the A.B.C. Aqua and MAK-1 Multiple Access Knife which have tips designed specifically for prying.) So please match the tool to the task, and use your knife only for cutting. The knife will last longer, and you’ll be safer too. This warranty does not cover failure of mechanisms due to your failure to properly maintain them. Also, consequential and incidental damages are not recoverable under this warranty. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of consequential damages, so this exclusion or limitation may not apply to you.Misuse of your knife can cause serious injury or even death. It can also cause your knife to break or fail and the CRKT® limited lifetime warranty will not apply. Failure to properly maintain your knife also may cause its mechanisms to not function properly, which could result in injury to you or damage to the knife. Follow the do’s and don’ts which are included in your CRKT® knife package and the knife will last longer and you’ll be safer too." |
Question: | Are you able to strap the sheath around your leg |
Answer: | CRKT store has a part request. You can order one there. Also, the screws are hex or star, you can easily take the clip off, bend it back into shape. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used iwb |
Answer: | The sheath is 100% nylon all the way through, no liner however the nylon is very tough and tightly woven. I can tell you having bought many knives some cheap like these and some very expensive from custom knife makers, it is very durable even without the plastic insert inside. I added this knife to my go bag as a secondary back up blade and using it here and there for minor cutting tasks and blade testing it's worth the buy. |
Question: | Is the blade on the sentinel wider than all the other models |
Answer: | Belt loops are 2 inches with the snaps closed however also have velcro lining the inside of loops to make bigger, but I wouldn't trust the velcro myself not strong enough. The snaps closed hold the sheath very tight. |
Question: | What does the hole do under the hilt |
Answer: | They do come with a hard sheath depending on the model. I got the mercenaries tactical and came with a similar kidex material. To buy a sheath Separately I really don’t know. |
Question: | Hello. Is this full tang |
Answer: | With a belt |
