Answer:	It is direct wire. You can wire it to a switch and use the switch to turn it on/off.

Answer:	Yes a standard led dimmer will work.
Question:	is the blub repaceable and where do you get it
Answer:	This fixture is LED, so the bulbs are not replaceable. The entire fixture must be replaced, which is true for any LED undercabinet light fixture. If you want an undercabinet light fixture with replaceable lamps, you would have to purchase an undecabinet light fixture that uses standard halogen or xenon lamps. You could then purchase LED bi-pin lamps to use in the fixture. This method would allow the lamps to be replaced, but could be more expensive, and most likely not as bright as an LED undercabinet light fixture such as this one since the LED technology is better. I am an electrical contractor, and I am always looking for new and innovative products. I have installed these undercabinet lights and they are a well manufactured item. The installation is easier than other brands I have installed such as WAC Lighting and Nicor. Offering a 40" LED is also a reason I like these, as I like to cover as much as possible with undercabinet lighting with no gaps for even lighting with no shadows. Having a 40" length cuts down on the need for buying more undercabinet lights. The price is very reasonable on these undercabinbet lights and they perform as expected. As I am also concerned about the light spectrum, and strive to install 2700k or 3000k for a warm color light to make tile and countertops more appealing, these undercabinet lights perform well in that area as well as being dimmable (Using an ELV (Electronic Low Voltage) type dimmer is recommended but I have used standard dimmers as well with no issues).
Question:	If hardwiring, can the chords come in through the center/back of the unit, or must it go through holes on the side
Answer:	The lights do get hardwired through the center back. The holes on the side are to connect multiple lights. You will need to order the connecting chords separately if you are wanting to connect multiple lights.

Question:	Is the light truly different for the different lengths, or are you just multiplying the 20w bulb by the number of bulbs per light? (20W X 4 = 80W
Answer:	Bulbs are all the same; 20W each, with 2, 3 or 4 bulbs depending on the length of the fixture. I know you didn't ask, but I feel I should mention that I had these light fixtures installed in 2009, and they are on a dimmer switch. A couple of the bulbs have burned out over the last year or so but I am not going to bother replacing them. The quality of the xenon light is fantastic, however, be advised that xenon lights get VERY hot, so much so that you can feel the heat inside the cabinet on the bottom shelf. Probably not good for wood cabinets and the stuff in there. Therefore I don't leave the lights on for very long periods of time, and never on full wattage. Now that LED lights have gotten better, I am going to get rid of these xenon fixtures so I can have undercabinet lights on for longer periods of time.
Question:	Description of item says xenon, but in details, lights are said to be halogens. Which is it
Answer:	The lxc models are xenon and lhc models are halogen. The halogen have been discontinued by American Lighting and are pretty hard to find.

Some products are made by off brand companies or simply low quality brands that just use mass production facilities in China. Then there are companies that have their own factories or at least their own quality control and standards of production when they manufacture in China. American Lighting has very high quality products. You can see it in the packaging, instructions, availability of replacement parts and more.2) It is a valid discussion if we should let all our manufacturing go to China. Question:	Electrician says wiring under cabinet is older two wire. Rewiring will be costly. Are these 2 wire or 3 wire? Thanks
Answer:	I believe 3 wire although you are only missing the ground copper wire should be able to wire with 2 wire as the white is neutral

Answer:	This installation was beyond my skill level so I had my electrician do it. For what it's worth, I've been really happy with the lighting. When one unit proved to be defective, American Lighting replaced it and paid for my electrician to reinstall it.

Question:	Any recommendations on which LED bulb to replace the xenon bulbs
Answer:	I have not had to replace a bulb yet so I am not sure if an LED can be used in its place.

Question:	can the linking cables be shorted as two lights will be a couple of inches away from each other
Answer:	No. As I recall you need 3 or 4 inches between fixtures to have any hope of using the linking cables. My plan was to have just a couple inches between fixtures, but that didn't work out so I mounted them tight against each other. Now each fixture is not centered with the cabinet, but it works just fine anyway. I threw the linking cables away.

Answer:	I believe these units have a 3 year warranty, go on to American Lighting website and fill out a RGA request and they should ship a replacement no charge but you will probably need your receipt info.

Answer:	You get 1 light. The 2 is part of the item name, and does not refer to the quantity.
Question:	Do these come with a warranty just like if they were purchased from a supply house
Answer:	I don't know, and I did not save the paperwork that came with it.
