11 best reverse osmosis system for sap
A reverse osmosis system for sap is a specialized filtration system designed to purify and concentrate sap collected from maple trees during the process of maple syrup production. Here are some key points about reverse osmosis systems for sap:
Purpose: The primary purpose of a reverse osmosis system for sap is to remove a significant portion of the water content from the sap. This helps to reduce the boiling time and energy required to produce maple syrup.
How It Works: Reverse osmosis is a process that uses a semi-permeable membrane to separate water molecules from dissolved solids in the sap. Pressure is applied to force the sap through the membrane, leaving behind a more concentrated sap with a higher sugar content.
Components: A typical reverse osmosis system for sap includes a pre-filter to remove large particles and debris, a pump to create the necessary pressure, a semi-permeable membrane, and a collection tank for the concentrated sap.
Efficiency: These systems are highly efficient and can remove a significant portion of the water, reducing the sap's volume by up to 80% or more. This means less time and fuel are required during the boiling process, making maple syrup production more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Benefits: Using a reverse osmosis system can lead to higher-quality maple syrup with a more consistent flavor because the sap is concentrated before boiling. It also allows syrup producers to process larger volumes of sap in a shorter time.
Size and Scale: Reverse osmosis systems for sap come in various sizes and capacities to accommodate the needs of small hobbyist syrup producers as well as larger commercial operations.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including cleaning and replacing filters and membranes, is essential to ensure the system continues to operate effectively.
Environmental Considerations: By reducing the need for extended boiling, reverse osmosis systems can help reduce the environmental impact of maple syrup production by conserving energy and reducing emissions.
In summary, a reverse osmosis system for sap is a valuable tool in maple syrup production, allowing producers to efficiently remove water from sap and concentrate its sugar content before the boiling process. This results in higher-quality syrup and increased production efficiency for both small-scale hobbyists and commercial operations.

Question: | Can it fit 3013 filter |
Answer: | This is the pre-filter set for our Essence Series under the counter RO systems. |
Question: | Can I use it with 1812 membrane |
Answer: | Almost certainly. I live in a small apartment, and had it installed on the balcony beside a utility sink and garden hose. Many people find it will fit under the kitchen sink -- that didn't appeal to me since I would have had to drill a hole in the countertop. |

- [Tips] Recommend work pressure is 100 psi when using this product in a Maple Syrup reverse osmosis system. And we suggest heating and maintaining the raw sap at 104°F(40°C) to prevent clog on the membrane while keeping it under 113°F(45°C) to avoid damage to the membrane due to over-high temperature.
User questions & answers
Question: | I ran this for 3 hours, 180tds in. 100 out. Not acceptable. Put my cheap 100gpd back in there and get 19ppm out |
Answer: | The water source psi does not affect the pump since the pump would automatically adjust the outlet pressure. Be careful: What if your water source tank runs out of water: The pump will not automatically turn off. |
Question: | Why do you state 400 gpd at 60psi when the manufacturers website clearly states it used 100psi at 77 degrees |
Answer: | Buy two 3/8"-to-1/4" reducer adapters at Lowe's. |
Question: | what is the wastewater to purified water ratio? can the flow restrictor be bypassed to flush |
Answer: | The 2812/3012 is the size of the filter. They vary by gpd. |
Question: | Does it constantly discharge reject water even when your not using pure water |
Answer: | What do you mean by, "cap"? There are generally two O-rings on the product water end of the RO element. And there is a large O-ring just outside edge of the threads, in a groove just outside the threads, on the end of the housing. If by cap you mean the end that screws onto the threads at the back of the housing. There is no O-ring inside that component of the housing. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can you include a pressure switch (at added cost |
Answer: | Before getting the 400gpd I had a 90gpd unit and my waste orifice was a 300. I'm supposed to run an 800. It ran perfectly for 18 months until I upgraded to the 400gpd. So for me, imo, running the orifice they suggest is a waste of good water. Maybe that much waste is needed for nasty well water or something but my water is pretty dirty at 500ppm and after 18mo my ppm output was the same as the day it was new. When I bought the 400gpd unit I only increased my restrictor to 450 which is about 1/8th the size you're supposed to run. This time I decided to add a bypass to flush it which I made using an electronic solenoid valve so I can do so while sitting on my butt on the couch. I call it turbo flush and not really sure how important it is to do but I figured I'd add it considering how small the waste orifice ratio is now. The way I see it is one hard blast with one gallon is better than many gallons at a trickle. I have also considered removing the waste orifice altogether and only turbo flushing it now and then, but I'll give my current setup a year to see what happens. I'm not sure exactly how much filtered water I use but I est 50gal/week. Not sure what the waste is on that with my setup but I'm guessing 10-15gal? Plus a couple for turbo flushes. Side note; the first quart of "filtered" water that comes out when I first turn it on is whatever the tap is. So if my tap is 500ppm then 500ppm is what comes out, then it quickly tapers down to about 16ppm after a quart has passed through it. This has not changed since it was new and my fix is to dump that the first quart which I again use a solenoid for. Something to think about because if it only tops off a gallon or so at a time, which is typical, then that's really killing your water. So I'd be sure to buy a ppm tester to see if yours does that, but it's kinda a must have item anyway so you can check how the system is doing. Also note I have much higher water pressure so if that 450 orifice is not self regulating (mine is in a big plastic container which suggests it's not just a simple orifice) then I guess I'm wasting twice as much? I suppose I should measure it... Whatever it is it's still much better than the 100-150gal/week I'd waste if I followed the directions. Considering I live in a water starved part of the country I think that would make a massive difference if the millions of other people in my area did the same. I mean if they went through all the trouble to make expensive low water toilets and all kinds of other stuff to save water then this seems like a no-brainer. Another note: You won't get the rated gpd unless dumping it into a bucket. In a normal system you have ~60psi water pressure filling a 40psi storage tank. This is why I bought the 400gpd unit, because the 90 was taking too long. I forget my actual flow but it was more like 25gpd, so with the 400 I get more like 100gpd, which is what I originally wanted. Fyi. As for the bypass, you can make one using a couple Y or T fittings to go parallel to the waste orifice, and have a 1/4 turn valve in it so you can turbo flush whenever you like. You can get a kit here with all those fittings and some for like $10. Or like me, I use a solenoid instead which I think cost $10, and that is turned on/off via a wif outlet I control with my phone. This is also how I turn my system on/off because the normal automatic setup was not cutting it, so I have three solenoids altogether. Best of luck and hope the above helps. |
Question: | What is the max psi it produces at the max flow |
Answer: | I should add that it does not dump water if it's plumbed correctly, because I've seen, more than once, where it was not and dumping 24/7. Speaking of wasted water, I also suggest a shutoff to greatly decrease your odds of coming home to a flooded kitchen. It happens a lot, maybe less now days but I've seen it and experienced it enough to think it's all but expected. I suggest a solenoid valve of some sort on a timer so if a hose pops off, fitting breaks, O-ring lets go or whatever while you're away or asleep it won't do too much damage. I use a cheap little $10 unit meant for these, plus I put a check valve after the outlet so the tank won't dump its contents either. |
Question: | What is inlet and outlet size |
Answer: | Your have to install a compatible (based on psi range of the pump and voltage) automatic pressure switch in ebay about $1.00 - $2.00 for the pump to automatically turn on and off. |
Question: | What is the warranty duration |
Answer: | This pump needs pressure switch |

Question: | Hi iam a newbie to this i wanted to know is there an installation video , that i can use to be able to install this for my home |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Can i order with all 1/2" ports |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | ii purchased this unit a few weeks back and the connections are leaking.i have tried both pipe dope and teflon do you have any ideas that will seal it |
Answer: | Not certain. Not enough information provided as there are many manufacturers of RO systems classified as a model "G3". |
Question: | Can a 2.5" x 40 membrane be used in this housing |
Answer: | All RO filters require a restriction to build up enough of a back pressure to force water through the membrane. The GPD rating is the good RO water produced under ideal operating conditions and pressures. EX: I ran 150 GPD membrane at 80 psig into an open tank and produced 80 gallons per day. |

XLP-4040 2400 GPD Commercial RO Membrane
Detailed Description
- Reverse Osmosis membrane elements for commercial drinking water systems are the industry's most reliable method of water filtration. Advanced membrane technology and automated fabrication allow these elements to deliver consistent performance that equipment suppliers, water treatment dealers, and residential customers can rely on. Our Reverse Osmosis membranes are shipped dry for convenient handling and long shelf-life. Our ISO9001 rated membranes are rated at 60 psi and will purify about 20% more water than competitive elements rated at 60 psi.
- XLP-4040 standard flow is 2400 GPD @ 100 PSI ,Now if you the reduce pressure to 60 PSI,pressure reduced 40% ,therefore permeate flow will be approximately 1440GPD
- We suggest changing your membrane every 2 years.
- Iron and Manganese is oxidizing. We recommend using a manganese sand filter to filter manganese. Excessive manganese will damage the RO membranes. Generally we require feed water manganese less than 0.5mg/L
NOTE: Exercise care in choosing the correct membrane element, as usage in unintended applications can cause severe problems and reduce the lifespan of the membrane element significantly (ie. lifespan reduces from 2 years to 2 months, or even weeks).
Usage
XLP-4040 Reverse Osmosis Membranes are applicable to the desalination of municipal water, groundwater with salt concentration less than 1000ppm. It can be widely used in pure water preparation, maple sap collection and related industries, and best suited for small electronic industrial, boiler, beverage and other applications.
Commonly referred to as: Extra Low Pressure, Extra Low Energy, Ultra Low Pressure, or Ultra Low Energy.
4" x 40" Fits nearly all standard 4" x 40" Membrane Housings Stainless Steel, PVC, or Fiberglass.

User questions & answers
Question: | How big is the system? How much space do we need in the under-sink cabinet |
Answer: | tank is 15x11 and filters are 15x17 I have mine mounted on wall in garage. takes up a lot of space for under the sink |
Question: | How much does a single set of stage 1-3 filters cost? Where can we purchase them |
Answer: | $32.30 for one whole set or $50.00 for 2 sets.https://www.amazon.com/APEC-Water-FILTER-SET-ES-Standard-Pre-Filter/dp/B00I11HUGW/ref=sr_1_1?srs=9433327011&ie=UTF8&qid=1470691669&sr=8-1&keywords=apec+filter-set-eshttps://www.amazon.com/APEC-Water-Systems-FILTER-SET-ESX2-Replacement/dp/B00SSA7OBM/ref=sr_1_2?srs=9433327011&ie=UTF8&qid=1470691669&sr=8-2&keywords=apec+filter-set-es |
Question: | Does this filter remove hormones |
Answer: | The answer "ROES-50 system uses a high quality, .0001 micron Reverse Osmosis membrane and 3 carbon filters so it is designed to remove high levels of hormones and pharmaceutical drugs from water" is troublesome. Terms like "high quality" and "high levels" are arbitrary, and it's a safe bet people don't want arbitrary amounts of contaminants removed. |
Question: | Hi apec, i see your offshore imitator is offering transparent 1st stage filter housings, why don't you offer one as well |
Answer: | I bought the ROES-50 RO system in January 2016 and for the most part it has been great. Bought the pump to go with it as well as an auxiliary accumulator tank to use in addition to the smaller bladder tank that comes with the system so we can draw a couple of gallons of RO water at near full pressure at one go (set to 60 psi), and have the output plumbed to the sink faucet and two refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers. I say all of this to say that I change the filters quite a bit and that it would be nice to be able to see the condition of the filters without having to shut off the supply from the house plumbing, and shut off both of the pressure tank valves as well as the system backfeed valve I installed just to get a look at the filters. I have a well and have two of the "dreaded" clear Whirlpool whole home water filter units, one at point of entry before the well bladder tank, and one after my water softener system and before my UV sterilizer, both of which have been in service for 18 years without issue. Everything is installed in my utility room on the wall for easy access, and I replace the O-rings in the filter housings about every third filter change and wash the housings out with a bleach solution, rinse them well and lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease when installing new filters every time I change a filter, and never ever tighten any of them tighter than hand tight unless there is a drip, but I can't recall there ever being one. I don't understand why people have filter housings break unless they are being over tightened, installed in a harsh environment exposed to the elements, or somewhere where they are subject to being hit with things and getting damaged physically, or in direct sunlight and subjected to UV radiation. Therefore I wish there was an option to purchase clear housings for the ROES-50 filters in order to make proper maintenance as easy as the rest of my system, because other than that, the only complaint I have with the ROES-50 is that the white bladder tank that came with it leaks air and I have to repressurize it about every six months. The larger blue auxiliary tank I bought has yet to need to be repressurized. |

Product description
As America's favorite brand of reverse osmosis systems, and backed by iSpring’s industry-leading customer support, the RCC7AK is unequaled in quality, performance, and durability. The system consists of 6-stage, layered filtration built around precision reverse osmosis (RO) technology that removes over 1000 different kinds of contaminants in order to provide the best home drinking water filtration available. Unlike some other systems, the combination of both GAC and CTO filters in the 2nd and 3rd stages provides extra layers of protection against harmful chemicals than CTO alone. It features a 75 gallon-per-day capacity RO membrane, which is larger than most in its class and provides the capacity to economically handle the drinking water needs of even a large family.
After flowing through the initial 5 stages of the iSpring RCC7 line of Reverse Osmosis filtering products, the RCC7AK model adds another Alkaline Remineralization (AK) stage. This stage is designed to restore the natural alkalinity and mineral balance of the water. The RO process effectively generates pure water but it also removes a few helpful minerals in the process. The red mineral stone portion of the AK filter adds back healthy minerals including not just calcium, but also other beneficial minerals, like magnesium, that other systems don't. The calcite portion of the filter neutralizes the pH of the RO water. And the water tastes better too. Because RO water is so pure, some people may find it tastes unnatural. Many people prefer the more natural taste that comes from the presence of some minerals in the water. Remineralization restores just the right proportion of healthy minerals.
Designed for do-it-yourself installation by most users, the entire system fits nicely under a standard kitchen sink. Installation is straightforward and all parts necessary for installation are included. You are guided by clear, well organized written instructions, instructional videos and access to iSpring’s unparalleled technical support. The system is quiet and low maintenance with no moving parts. Replacement filters are standard sized and sold at factory direct pricing. A lead-free, solid brass faucet with brushed nickel finish is included with the system and is usually mounted on the counter as the primary source of drinking water, but output lines can also be connected to your ice maker, coffee maker, etc. The whole system is backed by a 1-year money-back guarantee, a 1-year manufacturer warranty and iSpring's unique lifetime technical support provided right here in the USA in Alpharetta Georgia. With the iSpring RCC7AK, enjoy crisp-tasting, bottled quality water, every day, right in your home.
- Incoming Water Pressure: 45 PSI - 70 PSI
- Operating water temperature range: 40 – 100 °F
- Maximum TDS: 750 ppm
- Certified to NSF/ANSI 58, 6-Stage Alkaline Remineralization Layered Filtration: Exclusively designed to restore the natural alkalinity and mineral balance of water; this reliable and ultra-safe Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filtration system converts your water into clean, pure and healthy drinking water by removing up to 99% of over 1, 000 harmful contaminants like chlorine, fluoride, lead (removes up to 98%), arsenic, asbestos, calcium, sodium and more.
- BENEFITS: The iSpring RCC7AK water softener includes an additional sixth stage - an Alkaline Remineralization filter which restores healthy minerals and produces a balanced alkalinity, which gives your water a more natural taste than regular 5 stage RO water filter; the RO membrane removes not only harmful pollutants but also a few helpful minerals. As a result, a standard 5 stage RO system produces slightly acidic water with a pH of 7. 0 or below
- FEATURES: Beautiful European-Style kitchen faucet. Transparent 1st stage housing for easy visual inspection. Three extra long life pre-filters to remove large contaminants and protect RO membrane. Ultra fine (RO) filter to remove contaminants down to 0. 0001 microns; fine GAC filter to provide final polishing to the purified water and (AK) filter to finally restore just the right proportion of healthy minerals and a natural alkaline balance. The end result is great-tasting bottled-water quality
- EASY DO IT YOURSELF INSTALLATION: The water purifier is designed for do-it-yourself installation and all necessary parts for installation are included, backed by clear, well-organized written instructions, instructional videos, and access to iSpring unparalleled technical support. The entire alkaline water filter fits nicely under a standard kitchen sink. For leak-free installation, simply push tubing ½ inch deep into quick-fitting connectors and lock; no threading pipes needed
- 100% SATISFIED CUSTOMERS: RCC7AK from America’s favorite brand of under sink water filter is the No. 1 rated reverse osmosis systems in the USA backed by iSpring extended manufacturer upon registration and lifetime personalized support from GA, USA, combined with premium quality components, this water filter is to deliver endless bottled quality drinking water right in your home for many years to come, eliminating plastic bottles
Product features
Reinforced Transparent 1st Stage Housing
Provides an easy way to visually inspect the sediment filter and view the contaminants being removed from your water. With the transparent housing you will know it is time for a filter change before a problem occurs.
Finest Micron, Layered Protection
The advantage of having both 5-micron GAC & CTO filters is that loose carbon (GAC, KDF) is better at trapping large contaminants, leaving only smaller ones to the CTO carbon block filter. This allows the CTO filter and RO membrane to function at their maximum efficiency and last longer.
Leak-Free System & Online Supporting Videos
Push to connect fittings and color coordinated tubings simplify the installation process and prevent leaking. We know that high percentage of our customers prefer Do-it-yourself installation. We are investing in video production and aftermarket platform to provide our customers the resources needed to have successful installation and maintenance.
Live Phone Support
We offer technical phone. Contact our expert support team for personal assistance in selecting the right system for your water filtration needs. Now, and years from now, we will be right here and ready to help.
