Answer:	The thickness of the bracket is 1" push in with finger. About 1 1/8" just hanging on wall.

Answer:	I used my 16" brackets on a fold-down table I put in my apartment dining space. The tabletop is 19"X43" and is a pretty heavy top. The 16" brackets, so far, have been just fine. Mine are anchored in wall studs with screws, and I think that's a necessary method to make sure they don't pull out. That's about the best I can advise on this topic. Either 20" or 16" should work for you as long as they're properly anchored.

Answer:	Approximately 1” for just the bracket, then add the thickness of what ever material your using.

Answer:	I don't think it would self activate. The release mechanism is a spring loaded push lever, so it takes pressure to activate.

Answer:	I think it should!! We used a 24x24 butcher block that is a little over 1/2” thick. We bought a large piece from Lowe’s & cut it half. We put them at the end of both kitchen counters using those brackets and they work great!!

Answer:	The product says up to 550lbs but I suppose it depends how you bolt it onto the wall. I used lag bolts to the studs and I was able to sit on it with no worries and I'm about 220lbs.
Question:	How far away from the wall does this set when folded
Answer:	It's a hair under 3" from the wall. 2 7/8" the be exact.
Question:	What is the size limit (W x L) of the table board you can use if this us *not* being used as a seat
Answer:	I plan to attach a 2'x4' 3/4" piece of sanded plywood. That would only leave an 8 inch overhang at the edge
