1. Set the lock’s combination to 0000. Pull up on the shackle.
2. Rotate the shackle 90 degrees counterclockwise. 
3. Push the shackle down. You should feel the shackle slide down and hit a spring. 
4. While pressing down, rotate the shackle another 90 degrees counterclockwise.
5. Scroll the dial numbers to set your own combination.
6. Rotate the shackle back in the reverse direction until the shackle pops up.
7. Your combination has now been set.

Answer:	I looked on my purse to check. It will fit thru the loop attached to the pull on the zipper. However, if you have just the zipper with no pull on it the lock won't fit.

Answer:	No these won't hold up outdoors. The cord would but the lock itself would definitely break. I agree with the stainless steel mentioned before. Steel wire is great security, just check one out that has a stronger long lasting lock box on it. So it will hold up in temp changes and precipitation.

Answer:	No unfortunately it is against federal law to ship the key with the lock. We have tried to include it in the past but Customs won't allow it.

Answer:	As long as you can hide the lock. Its not very visually appealing so if there is like a flap that covers the zipper, it would be more ideal. I honestly think it is somewhat difficult to take off luggage because I drop it all the time. May get kind of annoying with a purse.

Answer:	Laurie, you cannot reset the padlock if you do not remember the combination. With a bit of time and patience, you can try going through each the series of combination starting either from "000" or "999" depending on where you likely had set this. With a bit of time and patience, this is eminently doable. I have done the same though with a different lock.
Question:	It seems like these can be reset when locked which means someone could mess with you. Shouldn't reset only be allowed when lock is open
Answer:	I've never tried and never had any reason to. It's so completely illogical that it would be possible to do that that I'm sure it isn't. And why would someone want to reset the lock anyway to mess with you? That seems pretty unlikely. Maybe break into whatever you've got locked up--these locks aren't very sturdy. You could easily cut through the cable or simply yank it off.

Answer:	I deliberately mentioned that I had not received any discount because I was so annoyed by all the reviews that did. I loved this product. I ordered them for a trip I had to take in Jan. and used them. Very easy to set the code (a problem with the two previous locks that I owned). Very easy to attach because of the longer, flexible cable. Very easy to open. On the outbound leg, when I got to my hotel, I could see that it had indeed been opened so I knew to carefully check the contents of my luggage. I was totally pleased and if I ever travel with more than one bag I will certainly order this one again.

Answer:	Charles B. is correct.As someone who flies frequently attending firearm sporting events around the United States, I often check in handguns and rifles in their dedicated Storm/Hardigg cases. Once you present the firearms for inspection, you MUST lock the case and keep the key or combination to yourself. NEVER EVER use a TSA lock on your firearms case. Please IGNORE the nonsense "advice" by "Kari". If you transport a handgun in your checked luggage, the handgun must be in its own lockable case with its own dedicated lock. Again, DO NOT use a TSA lock on that case. Rule of thumb - once the firearms have been inspected by the appropriate airport personnel, lock it up with a NON-TSA lock. Firearms are inspected in your presence, prior to your luggage being put on the conveyor belt.

Answer:	The cables are small diameter, but with four, one on each corner, I think yes, they should do the job.

Answer:	On mine it measures 3 mm with the coating. I used a digital caliper and got 3 mm exactly if I didn't squeeze it on the cable to compress the coating.

Answer:	Based on my incredible engineering skills, the minimum breaking strength of these cables is over a thousand pounds, if the steel section is about 1/8in (2.54mm) in diameter inside the coating. A safe load would be about 250-300 lb. That is sight unseen, obviously, but I can feel in my heart that they are bright wire, uncoated, fiber core (FC) wire rope, made with improved plow steel (IPS). Can't you feel it too, brother?
Question:	What is the diameter of the black coated crimp at each end
Answer:	0.36 to 0.40 inches. The black part is a plastic cover and not exactly round but close. The 0.40 inch was the max measured with my micrometer.
