Answer:	Yes, they do, but my cats are older and don't actually play with the device, but they all drink from it. In fact, i dropped mine and one of the tabs broke off, and the lid still stays on and it works fine as long as the section with the 'flower' and little holes is seated properly.

Answer:	You 'change modes' by lifting the 'flower' in the middle, although I really haven't noticed any real difference in the water flow. It needs the right amount of water, between the lines, to flow properly, and when it's plugged in, the light is blue. If the water is too high or too low, it is red. I've noticed that when the water is getting low, you can hear it more and sometimes the light flickers red/blue. I don't think there's an actual on/off switch, just plug it in.

Answer:	The screws are exactly 1 inch end to end. So that is including the screw head. I bought 30 of these knobs, and the screws were mostly long enough. But my drawers needed a little extra length and I had to use slightly longer screws on 3 or 4 of them. But...these knobs are really nice. Way beyond my expectations. Well worth the troubleof replacing a couple of screws.
