Question:	how do you lift it to the ceiling do you have a crank system
Answer:	I'm not especially strong but I lifted the rack onto a ladder and balanced it there with the help of another shelf, then I attached 4 rubber (heavy duty) bungee cords to each corner and hooked it to the ceiling mount. After those were all attached I could carefully keep tightening the cords by moving the hook further and further into the middle of the rack, lifting it up incrementally. Eventually you get to a point where you can 'hook' the rack onto the piece that comes down from the ceiling mount, so it's supported before you screw it in.
Question:	Do I have to install the rack perpendicular to the ceiling joists as in the video or can I install the rack parallel to the joists
Answer:	As long as the ceiling mounts are installed in a joist(s), then it will work. I installed my units in the corner of my garage, which required some creative mounting, as the studs where not conveniently lined up for a perfect installation. For one of the brackets, I ended up securing it to the wall rather ceiling as there was no stud along the ceiling next to one of the walls.
Question:	Is the ceiling anchor bracket 16 to 24 inches long so one can span perpendicular over two ceiling joists to properly secure the rack
Answer:	Janet,First off, my ceiling joist run front to back in my garage. My racks are mounted on the back wall with the 48" width going front to back and the 96" length side to side. The predrilled mounting holes are spaced 16" apart along the long side and 24" on the side. Therefore, they are ready as you receive them for for both. The vertical adjustable drop straps are mounted every 48" so it doesn't make any difference which spacing your ceiling joist is since every 48" they match up anyway. If you put the rack in a back corner of a garage you could mount it with the short side on the back wall and the long side along the side wall. In that case you would need to either have 24" spacing in your ceiling joist or buy 3 48" (you can buy them this length at a hardware store, Lowes or Home Depot) pieces of angle iron to span 16" joist then use any of the holes available to get the 24 and 48" spacing at the ceiling. Question:	What is the weight limit
Answer:	The limit is 600lbs, says so in the description and in the manual. I have 2 of these and I have a good 400lbs on 1 and 200 on the other and they have held just fine. If it fell, it wasn't installed correctly.

Question:	Does the rack have to be fully retracted to lock? For example, can it be raised half way and lock
Answer:	You can lock it pretty much any height you want. You raise and lower by turning a loop and the lock puts a pin in the loop so it won't turn.
Question:	Do you need to install any lag bolts in the T-bracket section? Directions only show 4 bolts on each of four arms. I want to straddle a metal i-beam
Answer:	Sorry I don't know the answer to that question. I had a handyman install it who has installed it several times. I know he said he used different stronger bolts that were in the original package and said the unit would now hold up to about 300-400 lbs. without worry. You will love it. It's the best solution around.
Question:	my ceiling is about 18 feet in the garage. Can I extend the cables/controls
Answer:	I have 9' ceilings in my garage and the platform lowers to within 18" of the floor. You could add cable to extend the drop to accomodate the added height from the original point. However your highest lift point would be about 7'6" above the floor. I am sure any alterations would void any warranties to the product. On a side note: I have two now and will be ordering at least one more soon. As far as control rod, you will have to extend it to meet your needs. The directions suggest a 1/2 inch drill but I had a local machine shop turn the insert down to fit a 3/8 drill. I might advise you to not use a cordless drill. I personally would consider going a little lighter on the max weight.
Question:	I'm surprised no one mentions that you have to drill ten holes fairly close together in each joist for the lag screws, according to instructions. Ten seems like overkill. Won't this weaken the joist
Answer:	Most ceiling joists are 2x6 and bigger and I have installed two of these lifts on the same joists and have not seen a problem with sagging or splitting of the wood. Considering the lift will hold up to 250 pounds it needs to fastened securely. If you are concerned about your joists being weakened by drilling I'm sure you could come up with a cripple stud solution where a second piece of wood is fastened to the original joists with three bolts and then the lift is screwed into the cripple studs. Still drilling the original joist but only in three places rather the ten.

Answer:	Correct. If you are going to use the Wall Control hooks and accessories, they go into special vertical slots, so each of the three 32" (tall) by 16" (wide) panels must be installed in the correct orientation. The panels still have the standard pegboard holes as well, which would of course work with standard pegs no matter the panel orientation.On the Wall Control website, they do sell panels in sizes and shapes other than the 32" x 16" sizes that come with most of the kits.
Question:	What is the recommended space to leave behind the pegboard for insertion of the hangers
Answer:	You do not need to leave any space. The way the pegboard is designed, it is already offset from the wall with any distance for the hangers to be hung without damaging your wall. This is the easiest pegboard system I have ever used. We got the white one to use in our kitchen for pots and pans a la Julia Child - it works great and looks awesome. All of our friends have admired it.

Answer:	If you mean the ones that fit on slatwall or pegboard, then, no it doesn't as it uses proprietary fittings. Craftsman versa work and there is at least one company that makes fittings. Gladiator makes a wide range of hooks, shelves, baskets and even cabinets that can hang on the panels. Be aware they are not cheap but are on sale frequently at Amazon, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's etc. I have never paid full price for my literally dozens of hooks and brackets etc.

Answer:	I suppose that would work--they are heavy enough to handle sheet-metal screws and piano hinges. However, they are only 16"w x 32"t. It wouldn't be a very high screen. It would also be expensive. I think you'd be better off just buying a screen.

Answer:	They make these rubber pegboard hole gaskets and I bought them on amazon Pegitz Pegboard Peg Locks 50PCS (1/4 inch, Black) they have both sizes 1/4 and 1/8 inch. I bought them in white and they work great. Worth the extra investment for the smaller pegboard accessories.

Question:	I see in the instructions that they state to put a piece diagonally to support the work top. Was there a place in the leg to attach this piece
Answer:	Yes, the upper leg support accommodates the (3) pieces of wood . The left & right sides of the wood are screwed into the leg support and the diagonally placed 2 x 4 is just laid diagonally across (sits on the upper leg bracket).
Question:	Is there anyway to attach caster wheels to make this easier to move
Answer:	YES! In fact it is quite easy to do , "Adding Castors/Wheels", to this workbench. As sturdy as this bench is once built it is easy to flip on it's side or back. And in that position simply attach your wheels. Just make sure you purchase GOOD wheels! And with a good mounting system. I at first tried to save a buck and bought some really cheap wheels from Amazon. Thought the wheels were rated at 500Lbs. That must have been a one time use rating! I then found a deal on Amazon for "Locking, Two inch dia., Polypropylene wheels with metal frames", Rated for 1000 Lbs. and they worked great. "STAY away from any plastic wheels regardless of the ratings!" The catch is the mounting system for the wheels. Most either have four holes you can place screws into OR a single steel 'Round", post with a metal "O-ring" to lock it in place. The latter you can order a larger plate that will attach to the bottom of the bench that the post slides up into. These worked for me. The one's with the four screws? Even with longer screws than recommended, -"4 x #8, 3-1/2" inch long, metal deck screws" they failed repeatedly. The bench weighs allot by itself and the four screws literally tore though the bottom of the bench! The wheels with a 3/8" inch metal center post worked with the mounting plates I made from heavy steel angle, "L-Brackets from the hardware store", with the 3/8" inch hole that I drilled in them for the post. With four 1" screws into the bottom but also two into the side. So that they were held both vertically and horizontally. Good luck!
Question:	Are the shelf supports included with this kit the same size as the 90124 Shelf Link units ( which accept 4- 2x4 in width) sold separately? From the pictures it looks like the ones with this bench kit are using 3 - 2x4, or one narrower
Answer:	I ordered the bench kit (90164) and the shelf link kit (90124). I did not use the shelf kit supplied with the bench kit on the bench itself. I combined them with the shelf link kit to make more shelves. They are exactly the same parts. I hope this helps.

Answer:	I used sanded 3/4” sheets of plywood with a double layer on top plus all the 2x4’s and upgraded hardware. I spent an additional $450 to build mine.

Question:	Could you set this up as 2 shorter shelfs side by side
Answer:	You would need to check your rack to see in the poles unscrew in the middle. I get the impression there were different versions of these racks. If they do you need a set of 4 caps, 4 threaded inserts and 4 casters or levelers. Check your pole size too, likely either 1” or 3/4” depending on the version.

Answer:	super simple assembly. take 2 peices of the black thingies. they should have a mark saying top or a dot or something. they are conical so you snap them together on the legs. start on the near bottom of a leg on a ring and slide the cap till it snaps in place. do all 4 on the same ring, 1 level at a time.so caps, snap, shelf. the 1st shelf is the trickiest but once the second shelf is in place it has better stability. if this is not helping, try youtube.
Question:	I'm very frustrated. the plastic shelf holders are not snapping and staying closed what am i doing wrong
Answer:	I've purchased several of these and just have one more thing to add from the other comments. First, from the other comments you can gather that the pieces do not snap together with each other - they snap to the vertical poles. That's an important point left out of the instructions. Second, where most are saying hold them together and slide them down the vertical pole until they snap, you can do that but they most likely will snap in the same location, giving you same size shelves. The shelves are adjustable, so if you want different heights for each shelf, find the groove on the pole that is closest to giving you the shelf size you want. Then you can, making sure the arrow of the 2 interlocking pieces point up, just lay both pieces close to the groove and then you can slide them up or down to find the closest place to that spot where they will snap. One more thing is you need to make sure you put the shelf over the 4 poles as level as you can. Even though the pieces snap onto the pole, they can be knocked off if the shelf hits them too hard on one side or the other if you try to place it on askew. Doesn't have to be perfectly level - I did it by myself - but somewhat hitting all 4 clips at the same time and coming down over them as close to the same time as you can. The lip of the shelf has to be down in order for the shelf to slide over top of the interlocking pieces on each pole - that's what holds them together. Will not work with the lip up. I am a 60ish female with no real mechanical abilities so the first one was the hardest because the instructions left out key points. Hope this helps (I have put together about 5 or 6 of them now in my garage).

Answer:	The cabinet is handily pre-drilled to attach included shelves. Put your heaviest items on the bottom if you're going to add more weight above.. that would be my advice. I've had no trouble with my shelves holding everything stored, arranged light to heavy weight top to bottom.

Answer:	I’d recommend using the black and yellow (or a similar type) with heavy flanges along the top edge of the box as all the weight hangs from this flange.

Answer:	If you look at it from the end it’s an I beam. The internal height is about 2-1/8” and the lip is about 7/8”. That’s plenty of space. If it helps, I use the Home Depot HDX Tough Tote 27 gallon totes and they work great
