It works until it doesn't which is not very soon after you buy it. I rub two sticks together to make heat before I would spend money on this again.

Answer:	My sister is the one who actually used the heater. She said it needs nothing extra for using in the U.S. When traveling internationally, it does NOT need a transformer. The transformer is built in. However, she did need to invest in a small, inexpensive adapter to allow the plug to fit into different shapes of wall outlets. She has invested in a few of those so that whatever country she is in, her devices will fit the wall outlet shape. She also said that when she used the heater, if she started with hot tap water, it heated a cup of water to boiling in 30 seconds. Hope this was helpful.

Answer:	Please note that the heat coil heats extremely slowly in the US, but in Europe, boils rapidly. I see no reason not to use it on milk or soup, but maybe those liquids would burn onto the coil before getting liquid heated thoroughly.
