This is because the upper mounting bracket is 12.5" wide and on on my ladder all rungs below the top one have the buttons to collapse that section and the stabilizer's upper mount won't fit those rungs because of those buttons. This is a problem for me as to use my ladder with my roof I need the stabilizer to mount a few rungs down and it will not. |

| Answer: | It is 12 ft and it does not fold. The upper part lowers down onto the lower section. It is a very sturdy ladder and works well if you have to get to a tall roof or on the upper half of a two story. It is heavy but very stable. We like it and find it much more stable and sturdy than our old aluminum ladder. |

Also, it is unreturnable, since when I found I could not use and tried to return, UPS and Fed Ex would charge more than $100. I paid about $60 for the ladder and about $10 for the shipping, so I still keep it although I would never use it. |
