Answer:	I think the fact that it has some insulation (like a padded mailer) would help trap heat. And it would work for sure if you added a heat source like Maryanne suggested. I feel sure that the Reflectix would keep the air warmer than foam. I've tried using a thick foam padding to insulate a dog house. The cold wind blew through small cracks in the dog house and eventually seeped through the foam because there was no barrier. The Reflectix is a padded barrier.

Answer:	It will be as temporary as whatever you use to affix it to the window is. There is no adhesive on this product. This is like the stuff used to make sun visors for car windshields. Think bubble wrap with silver covering. It is very sturdy and you should be able to reuse it many times.
Question:	Can you cut it to make it fix several RV windows
Answer:	Absolutely. A razor blade or moderately sharp scissors will easily cut it. I cut it into 20x46" panels to insulate the inside of my metal garage door. Just one heads up: if you ever want to affix it to vinyl (say a vinyl coated metal garage door...) be sure to use vinyl adhesive. The other stuff won't work.

Answer:	There's a previous similar question about thickness you might check. My purchase is approximately 1/4" thick so if you have a 1/4" space between the pane and the frame, then you will be able to open the windows separately without difficulty. Anything less, then no.

Answer:	So Johnson Fan is technically correct in the R value answer, but there's some confusion due to the nature of the product. Heat transfers in 3 ways; conduction, convection and radiation. The nature of a reflective material like foil cuts down on (let's just call it 99%) 99% of radiation heat transfer. By sealing potential air leaks with the product, losing cold/hot air is cut down as well, depending on how well you apply it. (You could seal air leaks with any type of plastic, really.) The restriction of air movement cuts down on convection heat transfer. That leaves conduction, which this product probably resists at a value of R1 or so. Fantastic for radiating heat and sealing air gaps, but if you strip the foil off not so good at insulating as other materials. (Two out of three ain't bad!)

Answer:	It sounds like you would be laying the foil on the outside surface? Unless you have an air gap, i wouldn't recommend it. you will actually make your heat situation worse. The reason for this is because the foil becomes conductive. There are plenty of good posts on this topic. Answer:	The foil is mounted not between the rafters, but to the bottom of the rafters. Get a good staple gun and go at it. I am very pleased with the performance of my foil. The way it works is that it reflects radiant heat back out. If it was up against the roof between the rafters it would readily conduct heat right through it. There must be an air gap between the roof and the foil. That is why it is mounted to the bottom of the rafters.

Answer:	I would say no. This is for small things that don't need much insulation. I would say a board type insulation like Tyvec would be a better choice for a well house.

Answer:	I would say that is not necessary. The material is stromg and does not tear easily. However, I made tabs from blue 3M masking tape to make it easier to remove the Reflectix window cover from the windows. If you should happen to cut your cover a bit small making a tape edging solves that problem. Check out YouTube for some good ideas on using Reflectix for window coverings...lots of good pointers.

Answer:	You bet! That's what I did with it. I measured windows inside the van, cut the material out about 1/2-3/4" larger than the window size, top and bottom, then just push it into the window and smooth it into shape in the area. Trimmed little bits until it fits snugly. Then I wrote on each piece with marker pen to denote which window it goes in. You can easily take them out for driving, and then put them back when you are storing or parking in the sun. It covered the two back door and two side door and two overhead windows in overcab area. Would need larger size if you have more windows.

Question:	My flexible duct insulation is falling off. Can I use this to wrap the insulated Mylar duct to hold the insulation in place
Answer:	You need the non perforated type to seal ducts. Even then you still need a air gap around the ductwork or the Radiant Barrier will sweat. And you have missing fiberglass just patch the holes with tape make sure it's fully covered and then rewrap airtight with tape and Mastic. Good luck I'm about to undertake the same project myself.

Answer:	For best insulatuve results,be sure to create at least a 1 inch air gap between layers.

Answer:	You should run this on the very top of your exterior. It must have an air gap to be useful. It should go like this exterior: OSB/Ply/Zip etc. (SHEATHING) *Optional* IF, you're using an exterior insulation then you'd run that (I'm using 1" Rigid Foam XPS). *Optional* Filling my seams around the 1" Rigid Foam using spray foam (in the can). Helping to create an airtight seal. House wrap (Tyvek). This is debatable, some say to run the Tyvek underneath the exterior rigid foam and normally I'd agree. BUT using the radiant barrier it is suggested by almost all manufacturers to ensure your radiant barrier has an air gap and reflects out. *Required* Create your air gap. Using whatever you wish ie. Wood or foam, you make furling strips. I am using a 4' x 8' of the 1" rigid foam cutting that into 2" wide 4ft long strips. I marked my exterior studs with a blue chalk line (ensuring ease for location of my 16" OC and studs). Now running my 1" foam (Furring strips) down the sides and one in the center using liquid nail and screw/nail into each one. After I have created my air gap I used the radiant barrier (one sided) shiny side facing out towards the world. Stapling them up and then using the foil tape to create the air seal. You can then run your siding on top of the foil and you're done. Question:	How would i install this product if i live in new orleans
Answer:	We recommend stapling this breathable radiant barrier to the underside of your roof rafters and gable walls in your attic space. Make sure to cut out sections underneath any roof vents and stay at least 6-12 inches away from the wall plates to allow for any soffit vents to access your entire attic space for ventilation. You can simply run the radiant barrier horizontally across the rafters and staple. For the next run, just overlap the previous piece by 2 inches.
Question:	For attic installations of Xtreme, which is advertised as breathable, is it necessary to leave an opening along the entire peak for air to escape
Answer:	If you have a ridge vent, then yes, you need to leave an opening of 6 inches on either side of the ridge vent at the peak. If you have any other roof vents (turbines) then you need to cut out an opening below the vents to ensure adequate ventilation. The key when installing a radiant barrier to the underside of the roof rafters is to make sure you don't obstruct any existing inlet and outlet ventilation in order for full attic space ventilation.
Question:	does it help in the winter months with lesser heating bills? we live in Meadvill PA and have very cold winters. There is a company trying to tell us it will help keep our heating bills down while keeping the house warmer
Answer:	A radiant barrier will absolutely not lower your heating bills if it is placed on the underside of the roof. Any heat radiated up from your house would be lost once it gets above the attic insulation. Heat is what moves and radiates, not cold. A radiant barrier works only when the sun is radiating heat onto your roof. Any one that tries to tell you a radiant barrier can lower your heating bills by XX dollars is either lying or does not understand heat transfer and building science. With that said, a radiant barrier will work well to keep your attic cooler in the summer, during the day, if your roof is exposed to a lot of sun. A thorough air sealing job, well-sealed ductwork, and proper attic insulation will help you be more comfortable and save money in summer and winter, night and day.
Question:	What is the difference between the ultima-foil and the xtreme radiant barrier foil
Answer:	The Ultima-foil radiant barrier is an aluminum product that blocks 97% of the radiant heat. When crumpled, it behaves like foil in that it retains the shape it is formed into. Xtreme radiant barrier is a metalized poly that blocks 95% of the radiant heat and it is very difficult to crumple and shape as it tends to open back up and remain flat. Both versions are virtually tear-proof.

Answer:	I have seen values between 3 and 7. My guess is about 3. This stuff is a great product . Easy to work with and fairly durable. Easy to cut with a scissors and tape with aluminum tape.
