When it's on the mug you press the lever and it opens enough to drink out of but doesn't pop up. If you want to lock it open, just press the button on the top (mine is grey but I don't know if they all are) and it will stay open for drinking but won't pop up for cleaning.

Answer:	The original Israeli research on the benefits of cinnamon for Alzheimer's, diabetes, etc. was all done with Ceylon cinnamon (true cinnamon) not the more common Cassia cinnamon. They have very different chemical composition and are not interchangeable.
