8 best chimney pipes

Chimney pipes, also known as flue pipes or stove pipes, are essential components of a building's heating and ventilation system. They play a crucial role in venting smoke, gases, and combustion byproducts from fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, furnaces, and other heating appliances. Here's what you need to know about chimney pipes in relation to ducting, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), building supplies, and tools for home improvement:

  1. Function: Chimney pipes serve the primary function of safely venting exhaust gases and smoke produced by heating appliances. They create a pathway for these emissions to exit the building, preventing them from accumulating indoors, which could be dangerous or even lethal due to carbon monoxide exposure.

  2. Materials: Chimney pipes are typically constructed from durable and heat-resistant materials. Common choices include stainless steel, galvanized steel, or black steel. The material selected depends on the type of heating appliance and local building codes.

  3. Compatibility: It's essential to choose chimney pipes that are compatible with the specific heating appliance being used. Different appliances require different venting systems, such as single-wall or double-wall pipes, and must meet local building codes.

  4. Size and Diameter: The diameter of chimney pipes is a critical factor in ensuring proper ventilation. It should match the size and specifications recommended by the appliance manufacturer and local building regulations.

  5. Installation: Proper installation of chimney pipes is crucial for safety and efficiency. They must be securely connected to the heating appliance and extend through the building's roof or wall to allow for proper venting. Sealing and insulating around the pipe penetration are also important to prevent heat loss and drafts.

  6. Single-Wall vs. Double-Wall: Chimney pipes come in two main types: single-wall and double-wall. Single-wall pipes are simpler and less insulated, making them suitable for use inside the home. Double-wall pipes have an inner and outer wall with insulation in between, offering better heat retention and safety, making them suitable for outdoor and extended chimney systems.

  7. Cleaning and Maintenance: Regular cleaning and maintenance of chimney pipes are essential to prevent creosote buildup, which can lead to chimney fires. Cleaning should be done by a qualified chimney sweep to ensure safety.

  8. Chimney Caps: Chimney caps are accessories often installed at the top of the chimney to prevent debris, animals, and rain from entering. They also help improve draft and prevent downdrafts.

  9. Ducting and HVAC: While chimney pipes are not directly related to ducting or traditional HVAC systems, they are crucial for efficient venting and maintaining indoor air quality when heating with wood, pellets, or other solid fuels.

  10. Building Supplies and Tools for Home Improvement: Chimney pipes, along with other related components like connectors, flashing, and support brackets, are available as building supplies. Proper installation may require tools for home improvement, such as pipe cutters, wrenches, and sealants.

Chimney pipes are integral to the safe and efficient operation of heating appliances that rely on solid fuels. Proper selection, installation, and maintenance of these components are vital to ensure the safety and comfort of a building's occupants.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work for my 6inch duravent DVL tripple wall chimney pipe. The description and some of the customer reviews are contradicting
Answer: The table does have grooves where the 4 slats fold in when in its folded state. This might cause issues since it's not a completely flat surface so some of the puzzle pieces could slip or lean in there.
Question: Does it come with all needed screws and hardware
Answer: It included everything needed to replace an existing faucet. Not sure if you would need a new "valve" if you were doing new construction.
Question: How long are the braces
Answer: From the two replies I have received, it sounds like it does not come with the valve assembly. Just for clarification, the valve assembly is what the plumbing pipes connect to and what actually blends the hot and cold water together to discharge it through the faucet. This is going in new construction, so there is no valves from previous faucet to connect to. Some retailers are selling this with the valve setup and some without, so I want to be sure before purchasing.
Question: Will this work for a 6 inch double wall pipe, need to brace the pipe inside the house it 18 feet
Answer: There are 4" from the back of the spout base to where the water comes out. The ring that mounts on the bottom of the handles are 2 3/16" wide

User questions & answers

Question: What cap to use with this chimney
Answer: amazon sells the cap. one comes with the chimney base installation kit. you can search 'duravent 6dp' should get to what you need.
Question: Can you extend duravent 36" chimney pipe with another duravent 24" chimney pipe
Answer: Yes. They connect just like the 36”. I did the same a couple of weeks ago.
Question: Is this stainless steel
Answer: Please see 6DP24SS for our stainless steel version.
Question: Can a single wall pipe fit going in an coming out
Answer: It can but it's not designed for that and may be considered unsafe on the "coming out" side. With you're limited explanation I really think you'd be better off calling a professional like NorthlineExpress before you burn things down.
Question: If I wanted to make an entire kitchen backsplash of this, would it be possible to match up the pieces, side-to-side? Could they butt up, or overlap
Answer: Material thickness is .019 - .023 so it lies nearly flush against the wall using four #8 screws, one on each corner of the backsplash, for installation.
Question: Will it hold up to frequent cleaning? How easily does it scratch? Is it safe to use a non scratch kitchen sponge
Answer: It's got a slippery coating on it that makes it very easy to clean. I have never had to use abrasives on it. I just spray it down with a kitchen cleaner that contains a degreaser and wipe it off. If you used harsh abrasives on it, it would probably scratch the coating eventually.
Question: What is the difference between sp300108 and sp300233? seem to be the same color etc by photo shown
