12 best waterproof underlayments
Waterproof SPF (Sun Protection Factor) products for babies are specially formulated sunscreens designed to protect the delicate and sensitive skin of infants and young children from the harmful effects of UV (Ultraviolet) radiation while being resistant to water and sweat. These products are essential for keeping babies safe during outdoor activities. Here are some key points related to waterproof SPF products for babies:
Sunscreen Importance for Babies:
- Babies have delicate and sensitive skin that is more vulnerable to the harmful effects of UV rays, such as sunburn and long-term skin damage. Sunscreen helps protect their skin from the sun's harmful rays.
Waterproof Formulation:
- Waterproof or water-resistant SPF products for babies are formulated to adhere to the skin even when exposed to water, making them suitable for activities like swimming and playing in the water.
Broad-Spectrum Protection:
- It's crucial to choose a baby sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection, meaning it shields the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays can cause premature aging, while UVB rays are responsible for sunburn.
SPF Level:
- Look for a baby sunscreen with an SPF level recommended by dermatologists, typically SPF 30 or higher. This provides a good balance of protection without causing excessive reliance on reapplication.
Physical vs. Chemical Sunscreens:
- Baby sunscreens often use physical (mineral) blockers like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These ingredients create a protective barrier on the skin's surface, reflecting and scattering UV rays. They are less likely to cause skin irritation.
Hypoallergenic and Fragrance-Free:
- Baby skin is sensitive, so it's advisable to choose hypoallergenic and fragrance-free sunscreens to reduce the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions.
Dermatologist-Tested:
- Products that have been dermatologist-tested can provide an added layer of confidence in their safety for use on baby's skin.
Application and Reapplication:
- Apply baby sunscreen generously to all exposed skin areas, including the face, ears, neck, and any other uncovered parts. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or more frequently if your baby has been swimming or sweating.
Avoid the Sun During Peak Hours:
- Whenever possible, keep babies out of direct sunlight, especially during peak UV hours (usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.). Dress them in protective clothing like lightweight long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses.
Sun Safety for Infants:
- For infants under six months old, it's generally recommended to keep them out of direct sunlight and use protective clothing and shade instead of sunscreen. Consult with a pediatrician for specific recommendations for newborns.
Remember that sun protection is essential year-round, not just during sunny days. Even on cloudy days, UV radiation can still penetrate and harm the skin. Waterproof SPF products for babies are an important part of sun safety for outdoor activities to ensure that your child's delicate skin is protected from the sun's harmful effects.

User questions & answers
Question: | What tape should I use for the joints that don't already have the tape |

Cork Underlayment is loved because it resists moisture and is hypoallergenic...in addition to made from sustainable cork trees, cork is a superior sound and thermal insulator. Even engineered floors feel more like hardwood floors when using cork underlayment. |

Answer: | I just glued this to a sheet of plywood using cork underlay adhesive. I plan to cover it with a map and use push pins. Looks like it’s going to work so far! |
Question: | Can this be used under carpet |
Answer: | Ummm, I purchased 2' x 4' x .5" panels to use as underlayment for new floor. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used under Floating Vinyl Plank flooring |
Answer: | I've been using Cinelli tape for about 30 years and every package has come with two short pieces for the levers and a pair of bar end caps. |
Question: | Oh great! i see you’re the same seller for the other underlayment i asked about. would you recommend layering this one and the foil one ? or one |
Answer: | Yes it has two rolls of tape plus the end caps and tapes to finish it up |
Question: | Wanting to use this as a radiant barrier and an underlayment all in one..can this be done |
Answer: | It has a strip of adhesive on the back side that is about 1/3 the width of the tape and is centered. This allows the tape to be wrapped in either direction. You want to overlap about 1/3 of the tape width with each wrap. You want the adhesive to go on the bar and not on the previous wrap. The adhesive is not super sticky - it allows the tape to be repositioned if you don't like where it's going as you wrap the bars. It is sticky enough to prevent the tape from sliding after you wrap it with some tension in the tape. The most tricky thing about this tape is to get it started at the bar end, the first wrap has to to be at a 90 degree angle to properly get seated under the bar plug, then you have to transition to an angled wrap quickly without making it bunch up. The tape has a lot of stretch to it. As you change direction, stretch it so one side will have more tension than the other. But you have to keep at least some tension through the whole width so it doesn't bunch up. One thing about this tape is that I never had to cut off excess at the end, you have to plan ahead as you wrap it to avoid excessive overlap, or else you will run out too soon. They provide a short piece to go behind each brake lever to avoid a gap in the wrap pattern. The Tape they provide to secure the end is OK, but it is not stretchy and it's hard to make it look good without getting crinkled up. I always put a couple wraps of black PVC electrical tape around the end first. You can stretch that real tight, to give it a neat appearance. The Cinelli tape can go over that. Do not use duct tape, it will leave a yucky residue on the bar. |
Question: | Is this stuff tear resistant or reinforced? 6mil plastic isn’t tough enough and I’m not seeing whe |
Answer: | Yes two rubber plugs |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it smell chemicals?/ Thanks |
Answer: | It depends on what type of floor you are laying. For floating floors such as click laminate or hardwood, it does not need to be glued. Tape the seams with duct tape and lay your floor. If you are glueing down hardwood, the cork needs to be glued to the subfloor. |
Question: | Can i lay this on top of a hard wood floor and then put padding and carpeting over it to soundproof my floor to make it quiet for my neighbor below |
Answer: | You can use either. Cork will transmit less noise. If the laminate is floating, you don't have to glue down the cork, just tape the seems. If you are gluing down the laminate, you would have to glue down the cork first. In either case, the 1/4" plywood would be stapled down with a pneumatic stapler (or screwed, but that is a lot of work). Staples every 4-5" in the body of the plywood, every 2" around the edge. This is assuming that you have a plywood subfloor, not concrete. |
Question: | Would this help dampen the sound of a treadmill? I live in a 2nd floor apartment |
Answer: | Cork is an outstanding insulator and can be used under the radiant heat elements - typically on concrete. I have radiant heat floors in the bathrooms. I did not use cork underlayment however because I live in Florida and did not have to concern my self too much with the time to heat a floor. I did talk with the manufactuer (Warm Touch) and they suggested underlayment (like Cork) under radiant heat if you are in climates where it gets cold. It allows the floor to heat quicker and reduce heat losses into the subflooring. I used this product under all my wood floors - it is awesome. Cork is a sustainable product, moisture resistant and bugs do not like it. |
Question: | We will be installing strand bamboo over our concrete slab. Is this cork underlayment all we need or should we install a moisture barrier too |
Answer: | It's 4 ft x 50 ft |

User questions & answers
Question: | What else is needed for installing tyvek protec underlayment |
Answer: | Yes, it will work to protect your wood from water but I believe I remember reading it is not to be used as a vapor wrap. The recommendation is to double up on low pitch roof so keep that in mind. Also, if you get moisture trapped behind it, it might be bad so the wood needs to be dry. You affix with plastic head nails. No glue. |
Question: | Cuanto mide el rollo |
Answer: | Yes, our product will work just fine in this application. |
Question: | can this be used with concrete tile |
Answer: | Yes this would seal exterior wood. I have used it on wood slab benches outside and it’s incredibly slick to walk on when wet. Epoxy is more for boat trim not for sealing docks. You’d be better off with an oil. Plywood bubbles in direct sun when it has moisture in it. Trex it if able. |
Question: | Is this product waterproof |
Answer: | Absolutely. Thats how its supposed to be |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work for gluing carpet? That is, can I glue this down and then glue a carpet onto top of it? (double-stick carpet installation |
Answer: | I am not sure I used it with tile. I don't why not?? The carpet would not be moving so the advanta Green would stay in place??? I am sorry I do not know more..Linda |
Question: | What is the thickness |
Answer: | too thin. Maybe 1/16" |
Question: | Can insulayment be doubled up under ceramic tile |
Answer: | No, this would void the warranty and can cause issue with the floor if you double up any underlayment. |

Question: | I'm looking for an underlayment that is chipmunk and mole proof. I'm using the heavy duty rubber liner |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | What are the actual dimensions of the sheet |
Answer: | It's lined in plastic. So if the dish is 400 degrees, I think you would want to wrap a dish towel around it first. just in case. |
Question: | I want to use this to create a pond 1 foot deep, how big will the pond be |
Answer: | The sauce spilled out on one dish and it looked ruined. I put it in the sink and used soap and a sponge then put it outside to dry. It's fine now. I don't think I would put it in the machine because the insulation might be compromised. |
