Protect Your Investment
Since all knives dull with use, it's important to protect your cutlery investments with the right maintenance tools. A knife's long-term performance depends on how it is resharpened.
Knives made of the finest steel will hold an edge longer, but even the best of knives dull with use- and the initial factory edge only lasts for the first few days or weeks of use.
Than for more than 99% of a knife's useful life, it's edge performance depends on how it is resharpened. Replicating the initial factory edge is not particularly relevant, especially since today's modern sharpeners can apply a better factory edge on every knife.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there anyway to add more than 20 characters? Even if I have to pay more |
Answer: | We recommend no more than 20 characters per line because the more characters you engrave, the smaller the text has to be. |
Question: | Will the personalized letters wear off the handle with everyday pocket carry |
Answer: | No, the text will not wear off. The text is permanently laser engraved into the handle. |
Question: | Do the laser letters remain normal during pocket carry and use |
Answer: | Yes, the text is laser engraved, so it will not wear off. |
Question: | If I choose to only engrave one line of text, or one word, will it be the same size text as in the example? Or will it be centered and larger text |
Answer: | The more characters you choose to have engraved, the smaller the text will be. If you choose to have one word engraved, it will be larger than the text shown on the knife in the pictures, and it will be centered in the engraveable area, as shown in the pictures. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the pairing knife come sharp |
Answer: | Yes, aluminum molded handles over stainless steel blades. |
Question: | please show me the box pictures, made in Japan .I was cheated by other people' company |
Answer: | They are double serrated. |
Question: | What's a 'plastic bolster |
Answer: | You can get Rada Cutlery in either silver handle or black. They must have put up the wrong picture. I would ask what they have for sale. Personally I like the silver handles because I like how they look. Some people prefer the black (plastic) handles because they are dishwasher safe. The silver handles have to be washed by hand or they will become discolored. |
Question: | All the reviews say that this 'cleaver' is sharp but it will undoubtably wear down after continued use. Is this easy to sharpen |
Answer: | I should clarify: the black handles haven't been made since 1948, they started making them about 6 or 7 years ago. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The description says the blade is 154cm. is that correct or will it be the updated s30v |
Answer: | If it is a straight edge Ka-Bar you should be able to. If it is a combination straight and serrated edge type you would only be able to sharpen the straight edge. |
Question: | Is it a real Benchmade |
Answer: | I use it to sharpen my karambit. What I found to work best with a karambit is I use this sharpener then I use the bottom side of an old coffee cup. This gets the blade quite sharp. |
Question: | Does anyone know where I can purchase a deep pocket clip for the mini grip |
Answer: | I would say YES! As long as the blade is not serrated. I use them on all of y knives and it works great. Be careful though they get wicked sharp |
Question: | Does this knife come with a clip |
Answer: | It's meant to sharpen Rada knives that are non-serrated. I have had customers use them on other brands of knives. No serrations though |

And as always, the Scallion comes equipped with Speed Safe assisted opening. With Speed Safe, you can open the blade one-handed. Just pull back on the ambidextrous blade protrusion or push on the thumb stud and the blade moves out of the handle, ready for use. To get that discrete olive drab color, we anodize the Scallion's aluminum handle scales so they will accept a dye to produce our scratch resistant, colorful handles. A locking steel liner secures the blade when open and is easy to close for storage. A Tip-Lock builds in extra safety during transport. User questions & answers
Question: | Can you take the pocket clip off |
Answer: | Thank you for checking with us. There are a couple of screws that attaches the clip to the knife. You may remove the clip if you decided that you don't need the clip anymore. |
Question: | Can you open and close with 1 hand |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. Yes, this knife is designed for 1-hand use. |
Question: | Good blade for bug-out bags / survival kits |
Answer: | I like this knife. Have 2 of them. Small enough to carry in the small front pocket of your jeans. My only complaint is that with both of my knives, the locking mechanism broke after I accidentally dropped the knives during the course of normal useage. There must be a little pin in there that keeps the blade closed when you slide the lock. That pin dislodged and was lost. Still a nice knife though. |
Question: | frame lock |
Answer: | It's a liner lock, NOT frame lock! |
Product features
Kershaw Scallion Knives
Kershaw’s Scallion family series pocketknives are perfect for an everyday carry at just the right size. Small but mighty, the Scallion is excellent for almost any cutting task from breaking down cardboard to cutting twine to preparing apple slices. The Scallion offers wonderful cutting versatility as a pull back on the flipper deploys the blade made of high-carbon steel that offers good edge retention, corrosion and wear resistance. Equipped with two locking systems to ensure the blade will not accidently open, a locking liner and Tip-Lock slider keeps the blade closed when folded.
High-Performance Steel
Extra strong, modified 420HC steel has a higher carbon and chromium production, is easy to sharpen and is durable when in constant use. The 420HC steel composition has excellent corrosion resistance and is a tremendous everyday steel. Heat treated will good edge retention, 420HC steel has a high chromium and carbon content that provides superior abrasion resistance and edge holding capabilities.
Attractive Blade Coating
Kershaw’s Bead-Blasted finish enhances a knife’s aesthetics and complements its end-use. The high-tech finish is achieved by applying a mixture of fine media onto the blade’s steel under high pressure, creating a smooth, non-reflective matte surface. Fine media includes glass and aluminum oxide beads that allow color variation and optimal performance results for an overall stunning effect.
Fast Deployment
Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure.
Secure Locking System
With two steel plates, or liners, on the inside of each handle scale, the liner locking system safely secures the blade open and prevents unwanted blade closure. The lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent closure, and angles or is bent towards the blade tang creating a bias locked position. Apply manual force to move the lockbar to the side and fold the blade back into the handle. Designed to keep the blade inside the handle, the Kershaw Tip Lock system is featured on all Leek and Scallion SpeedSafe knives. This simple slider, when engaged, ensures the blade will not prematurely open if not in use. The Tip Lock system is located where the tip of the blade meets the handle scales in the closed position. A press of the thumb activates the Tip Lock for secure, safe knife use.
One-Handed Flipper
Knives with SpeedSafe open have two options for one-handed blade deployment. To activate the smooth, instant open, user can push a thumbstud or press a flipper. The flipper on SpeedSafe assisted knives is easy to operate by both left- and right-handed users. And, once blade swings open and locks into place, flipper either disappears for aesthetics or remains visible for added finger protection.
Durable Handle
Aluminum, anodized for color, hardness and additional protection, is very durable, stain and scratch resistant for strong knife handles. Anodizing changes the aluminum’s surface so a porous coating can be applied that will accept a colored dye. Anodized aluminum gives the knife bright, eye-catching, unique colors and provides a nice, hefty, solid feel to the knife without making the knife heavy.
Convenient Pocketclip
Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. A pocketclip with tip-down carry is positioned so the closed knife carries in the pocket with the tip of its blade pointed down. A reversible tip-up or tip-down pocketclip allows user to change tip position. A single position pocketclip is normally tip-down, left side carry, but might be tip-up, right side carry depending on the particular knife. Single position pocketclips can be removed.
Product description
The wavy copper line along Kershaw’s Leek Composite Blade is the brazing that permanently joins a razor-sharp, durable D2 cutting edge to a Sandvik 14C28N spine, combining the best characteristics of two high-performance steels into one blade. On the edge is a high-carbon, high-chromium D2 steel capable of taking and holding an edge and the Sandvik 14C28N stainless-steel spine offers great strength, and corrosion resistance. The modified drop-point blade shape makes it a good slicing knife, while the slim tip gives it excellent piercing and detail work capabilities. This Leek readily accessible with SpeedSafe assisted opening, providing quick and easy one-handed blade deployment. A handle of pure stainless steel includes a secure frame lock, securing the blade open during use and a Tip-Lock slider locking the blade closed when folded. The reversible pocketclip can be configured for right-sided tip-up or tip-down carry and the handle is drilled for lanyard attachment.
The Leek series includes some of Kershaw's most popular knives, and this model is no exception. This particular knife features a distinctive design by celebrated knife maker Ken Onion, who created the SpeedSafe ambidextrous assisted opening system. With SpeedSafe, the user can smoothly and easily deploy the blade with one hand, either left or right. This makes it ideal for sporting and work situations in which one-handed opening is easier and safer, such as when hunting, fishing, or working with your hands on the jobsite. The Leek also sports a simple bead-blasted stainless-steel handle, which offers strength and beauty. If the stainless handle isn't your cup of tea, Kershaw also offers the Leek in a variety of other handle styles, some with technologically advanced coatings for enhanced performance. For example, the "smoked" double-anodized aluminum handle gives the Leek a truly one-of-a-kind look, while the black tungsten DLC-coated handle produces a non-reflective surface.
The Leek also comes with a Kershaw pocket clip, which is meant to be clipped with the handle on the inside of your pocket. The clip is not to be worn on a belt, as this is an unsafe way to carry your knife.
![]() The SpeedSafe assisted opening system lets you smoothly deploy the blade with 1 hand. |
The patented SpeedSafe knife-opening system helps users open the knife by applying manual pressure to the thumb stud or blade protrusion. The heart of the SpeedSafe system--which is built into many of Kershaw's best-selling knives--is its torsion bar, which keeps gravity from opening the knife. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its half-moon track and takes over, smoothly opening the blade and locking it into position, ready for use. Although they may look similar at first glance, SpeedSafe knives are not considered switchblades. Unlike a switchblade, SpeedSafe knives do not deploy with the push of a button in the handle or by gravity alone. Instead, the user must manually overcome the torsion bar's resistance, putting the knives outside the federal definition of a switchblade. However, it's the responsibility of the buyer to investigate and comply with the laws and regulations that apply in his or her specific area. Buyers should rest assured, however, that SpeedSafe knives are extremely safe, as they open only when the user manually deploys them, and lock securely into position when open so they don't close accidentally.

A top performer due to its ability to hold an edge, D2 steel is the perfect combination of performance and comes at a value price.
