| Answer: | I am not sure about the Pflueger reel because I'm not familiar with it, but you can use ether a spinning reel or a bait caster because these rods are long I use both 14 ft and 16 ft rods and the reel in my case "spider rigging for crappie" I'm not casting the bait it is used mostly for just holding the line so i'm just letting out a few feet of line one can just turn the anti reverse off and reel backwards. When fishing like this you are sitting down fishing using rod holders and slow trolling with a double minnow rig like the caps and Coleman double minnow rig. the hooks are down at the base of the rod already and you just swing it out and let it down the the depth you want to fish, or fish at different depths because I am usually using 4 to 6 rods and reels at a time. I use a small ultralight spinning reel which all crappie fishing outlets sell for this purpose. But if I know or can see the fish on my electronics I pretty much know what depth the fish are at, but I can vary a few inches to a foot to play the field and get fish at different levels while slow trolling at about .5 mph. This techneck was developed years ago by professional Crappie tournament fishermen who fish many times a week they eat drink sleep crappie fishing and they have made their living at doing this. Also there are several different versions of accomplishing the end result of catching fish! So what ever way you choose to "do it" have fun and enjoy the outdoors and be a keeper of the sport if you want to call it that. So Get Some and Eat Some! Fish |
