Answer:	Bed is one item purchased. The mattress is another item that I purchased separately. Plus, the sheet set another purchase, and i also purchased a blanket and pillow each separately, to complete the total bed setup for our grandson... and he loves it (he is 2 1/2).

Answer:	Yes it is if you don't put it like between maybe a bed and the wall so that she have walls. That is how I use it for my 3 year old neice. Also on the bed I use thick covers so she don't bump her head....

I figure maybe by 1 1/2 years old I’ll put like a tumbling mat under it , (try her for naps with me alongside) in case she rolls off , figuring she should be good and used to it by that time. We have hard tile floors.

Answer:	It does have a strip in the middle but it looks like when it is fully extended and a child is laying on the cot, the strip doesn't touch the top of the cot. The kids haven't complained. They are 2 1/2. Hope that helps. I find the cots very handy.

Answer:	The bed, Which is the size of a standard crib, comes with that railing. You supply the crib size mattress yourself. Three sides of the bed frame have full railings and the fourth side has half of a railing. You could not put an additional security rail on the fourth side because there already is half of one.

Answer:	Mattress sits on an assembled platform, so it's not directly on the floor. We haven't taken the platform apart, but since it was relatively easy to put together, I would assume it would be easy enough to disassemble. The entire bed structure is sturdy and very well-built, though.

Answer:	The mattress is the same dimensions as a baby crib. Your kid is 42 inches long, and a standard crib mattress size is between 27 5/8 inches to 28 5/8 inches wide, by 51 3/4 inches to 53 inches long. It will be a little snug in there, but it's doable, for a while. Make a rectangle on the floor with cardboard or masking tape and put the kid in there - see what you think.
