User questions & answers
Question: | How does the 2500 compare to the 1000 series |
Answer: | The distance between the spool and rod increases along with the increased weight capacities....Personally I do not think it is an ergonomic design, the reach for the quick release is too far from the pole, the 1000 is a smaller unit and comfortable for repetitive use...the upscaled design is less comfortable and I would bet with any sort of repeated use , you would find your hand and especially your index finger and index socket to palm strained....I am tempted to give it away and make it some one else's problem, I have ggod sized hands from years of contact sports and manual labor and it is a stretch for me...I would not buy it again... |
Question: | Japan product or where |
Answer: | japan |
Question: | Will this handle 30# power pro? Using it for pike fishin |
Answer: | I would say no. Small Pike, maybe, but not medium or large. Just a bit small. Upgrade a size. |
Question: | Why does my syncopate 4000 has Malaysia written on the tab that connects to the rod? I really hope that does not mean it was made in Malaysia |
Answer: | All Shimano reels are made in Malaysia. |

Question: | Hi, can I use in saltwater |
Answer: | You can, but I personally would not. I don't think it has sealed bearings. I would spend the extra money and get a Penn Spinfisher V for salt water. |
Question: | Would this be a good reel for blugill and crappie |
Answer: | It is a perfect sized reel for bluegill, and crappie. Paired with a sensitive rod will work great. |
Question: | Is this the smallest model ? is it perfect for 2lb test? trout fishing ? paired with an ultra light rod |
Answer: | Yes that would fit, and yes that is the smalles model (500) |
- HaganeBody - The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
- X-Ship - provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts.
- SA-RB - These bearings have been through the same process as our A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation.
- CrossCarbonDrag - This drag material provides a wider range of drag settings, along with the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.
- G-FreeBody - technology has been developed to shift the reel's center of gravity closer to the rod. By moving the center of gravity closer to the angler's hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.

Question: | What’s the best reel size for a 7f medium fast action rod |
Answer: | a 3000 size reel, with 10# or 15# braided line. |
Question: | Does this reel have the long stroke spool |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | What in a good shimano rod for a C3000HG |
Answer: | Don't use a 5'6" rod for a 3000 size reel unless you're fishing for panfish, and even then that reel will look too big on a rod of that length. I suggest a 6'6"-7'. Get the right Power/Action on the rod for whatever type of lure you're using. |
Question: | Right hand side |
Answer: | Can be easily switched for right or left hand. |

Question: | Is it Left handler or right handler |
Answer: | You can use it either right or left handed. The handle can be placed on either side of the reel. |
Question: | what does the 500 fg weigh |
Answer: | Sorry I don't have the 500fg but I think it kinda light because it's small. |
Question: | Is this reel front drag |
Answer: | yes it is |
Question: | what is the "super stopper" feature. Because the 1000 I just got spins freely in the reverse direction from just the handle weight |
Answer: | "super stopper" is the anti-reverse, meaning it's an instant anti-reverse. The reels ship with the switch off, but just turn it on and it will only spin one way. If you've ever used a really cheap spincast reel, the anti-reverse kicks in after maybe 1/4 turn of the handle, whereas this can go forward ONLY (when the switch is engaged). |

Sculpted from over a decade of engineering advancement and a rich lineage of predecessors, the new Vanford tests the boundaries of technology and engineering found in spinning reels. Built upon a CI4+ body for both a lightweight feel and carbon rigidity, the Vanford incorporates a MagnumLite (MGL) Rotor for up to 48% less rotational inertia than traditional rotor construction for a quick response in critical situations. The Vanford features Shimano’s cold-forged HAGANE Gear and many of Shimano’s premium technologies for increased fishing performance and years of durability. Vanford’s SilentDrive and MicroModule Gear II technologies combine to produce a new level of smooth rotational performance while reducing overall reel vibration. Vanford also incorporates Long Stroke Spool technology to increase casting distance while producing a smoother line lay on the spool during retrieval. X-Protect technology and water-channeling construction enhances Vanford’s water resistance and overall durability — an important feature for a reel sure to be found in inshore environments. From ice fishing and drop-shot fishing for smallies in the sweetwater to stalking tailing fish in the flats, the Vanford has no equal. A legend is born.
- CI4+ Body: This material is an advanced version of the original CI4. This highly technical carbon material maintains 2.5 times more rigidity than CI4. While improving lightness and rigidity, the body is further reduced in size and weight.
- MGL Rotor: The new design of the MagnumLite Rotor produces unprecedented light rotation. The rotor profile is now asymmetrical. The bail arm mechanism, which was previously situation on the same side as the line roller, has been moved to the opposite side. This improves balance and combined with a lightweight line roller, titanium bail and optimum arrangement of rotor thickness, a 14% reduction in rotational inertia has been achieved increasing sensitivity to unreached levels
- Hagane Gear: With amazing strength and durability, the HAGANE Gear is at the very heart of the reel. Shimano, through the application of state-of-the-art technologies, gives you the long-lasting smoothness and pleasure that you feel when you first use a reel, over and over again. No cutting work is applied to the teeth of the drive gear. Instead the entire surface is calculated in minute detail by special 3D design and then formed by Shimano's cold forging technology
- MIcroModule Gear II: State-of-the-art, gear tooth surface design and MicroModule Gear II, are further advanced through Shimano's exclusive manufacturing technology. The surfaces of the drive gear and pinion gear have been analyzed and updated from the ground up in pursuit of perfection. Further improving smooth gear feeling and reducing sound.
- Silent Drive: From the fundamental, whole body design to the most intricate parts of the drive train, including the drive gear, wormshaft, wormshaft pin and wormshaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed, and the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances.
