User questions & answers

Question: How does the 2500 compare to the 1000 series
Answer: The distance between the spool and rod increases along with the increased weight capacities....Personally I do not think it is an ergonomic design, the reach for the quick release is too far from the pole, the 1000 is a smaller unit and comfortable for repetitive use...the upscaled design is less comfortable and I would bet with any sort of repeated use , you would find your hand and especially your index finger and index socket to palm strained....I am tempted to give it away and make it some one else's problem, I have ggod sized hands from years of contact sports and manual labor and it is a stretch for me...I would not buy it again...
Question: Japan product or where
Answer: japan
Question: Will this handle 30# power pro? Using it for pike fishin
Answer: I would say no. Small Pike, maybe, but not medium or large. Just a bit small. Upgrade a size.
Question: Why does my syncopate 4000 has Malaysia written on the tab that connects to the rod? I really hope that does not mean it was made in Malaysia
Answer: All Shimano reels are made in Malaysia.

Shimano Zodias Casting Freshwater|Casting|Bass Fishing Rods

SHIMANO

Based on 9 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Synonymous with performance, the redesigned line of Zodias rods incorporate Carbon Monocoque technology passed down from Shimano’s elite series of rods that set the industry standard for sensitivity. For 2020, Zodias rods couple the hollow Carbon Monocoque Grip into a CI4+ reel seat to achieve up to 30% more sensitivity than conventionally constructed models, ultimately transmitting vibration from underwater structure, lure action or bites into the palm of angler’s hand. Shimano’s Hi-Power X technology lies at the heart of Zodias rods and benefits anglers by increasing the transfer of energy through the rod for enhanced accuracy and casting distance as well as reduced blank twist for better control when fighting fish.

  • Carbon Monocoque Grip: Carbon Monocoque grip is a carbon-molded grip that is lightweight with high sensitivity, transferring even the smallest vibration to an angler’s hand. The Carbon Monocoque Grip increases sensitivity by 30% compared to traditional rod handles and utilizes a hollow structure that eliminates unnecessary parts of the rear grip to improve weight reduction and vibration transmission.
  • Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of “X” shapes on the rod blank’s outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.
  • Ci4+ Reel Seat: Shimano's original material reinforced with carbon fiber. It is lighter and has higher strength than conventional resin material. This highly technical material is 2.5 times more rigid than CI4 and is used in Shimano reel seats to increase sensitivity and to reduce weight. Use of CI4+ for the reel seat also delivers remarkable rigidity for perfect reel fixation which results in better rod efficiency.

User questions & answers

Question: On that reel do you reel with your right hand
Answer: 200 series are right handed “reel with right hand” 201 series are left handed” reel with left hand
Question: Which fishing line would you use for this reel? I am debating between copolymer or braid
Answer: I use main braid and add about a ten foot fluro leader. However it depends what gear ratio you bought and what you are using the reel for. For the 7.4.1 I use 30 lb braid 12-14 lb fluro leader. I use this for all my jig set ups, rattle traps, spinner/ chatter bait ect 8.5.1 I’d use 50-65 lb braid for topwater frogs and for pitching and flipping into grass and pads. Also a heavier leader for clearer water but still to do the same technique17-20 pound fluro or 20 lb mono for a top water spook, popper or whopper plopper Any gear ratios 6.3..1 and under I use for cranking which then I sometimes use straight fluro 12-14 lb for 1/4- 3/8 oz square bills anything heavier use 15-17 lb fluro However this is all opinionated, every fisherman will tell you something different, however hopefully this helps. Good luck great reel for the price!
Question: where is it the shimano made
Answer: I have no idea. Nevertheless it is a great reel.
Question: How do you know if left or right handed
Answer: Shimano low profile reels ending with 01 are left hand retrieve.

Product features

MICRO MODULE GEAR

The Micro Module Gear System creates a smooth retrieve. The new gear set makes use of smaller teeth and more of them. This means that there are more contact points between the drive gear and pinion gear. The result is a more efficient gear train with less gear feel.

X-SHIP

X-Ship provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. The added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. This will enhance the casting performance of the reel with lighter lures, and allow for longer casts.

HAGANE BODY

The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.

SVS INFINITY

The SVS Infinity provides easy-to-manage, consistent spool control and brake force. With brake weights that use inner friction against the raceway during the cast, SVS Infinity controls spool speed for precision casting especially when using lighter lures. The external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch baits.

CI4+

The new CI4+ is the next generation of Shimano's CI4 material and 250% stronger. It is over one and a half times stronger than Shimano's normal XT-7 graphite and is over 20% lighter. Because it does not contain metal, it is also impervious to rust. So, as a result of its strength and weight, it allows Shimano to create an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerances.

SUPER FREE SPOOL

SF was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and actually can drag on the spool shaft creating friction that can limit the length of a cast. With SF the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing so that when the clutch is disengaged in preparation for a cast, the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in perfect alignment.

SUPER STOPPER

Super Stopper anti-reverse uses a one-way stainless steel roller bearing that eliminates back-play. This provides the angler with instant hook setting power.

A-RB

These stainless steel ball bearings are specially treated to drastically increase the corrosion resistance of the bearing. These bearings will last at least 10 times longer than standard stainless steel ball bearings in high salinity environments.

User questions & answers

Question: anyone have this on a 6-1/2' light pole? can I do this
Answer: I have one on a medium pole -- 6 foot and use 8-10 lb test and spinners thru 3/8oz. I catch lots of salmon and steelhead on it every year for past 25 years. Fished the same stuff and keep buying the shimano reels with quikfire. Love the drag at the bottom of the reel too.

Answer: Only rear drag but easy to adjust
Question: does it come with line
Answer: No it doesn’t but it works great with 4 to10 # line
Question: Would this be an ultra light reel, and would it hold up being transported in a back pack
Answer: I would classify the Shimano R1000 as a lightweight reel. Although it will fit on an Ultra Lite rod and you can put 4LB test on it- it's just slightly larger than an UltraLite reel. It is durable and transporting it in a backpack should not pose an issue.
