11 best dock ladder
A dock ladder is a specialized type of ladder designed for use in the boating and marine industry. These ladders are commonly found on docks, piers, marinas, and other waterfront structures. They serve the primary purpose of providing a safe and convenient means for boaters, swimmers, and other individuals to access or exit the water from a fixed platform, such as a dock or a boat. Here's some information about dock ladders:
Design: Dock ladders are typically constructed from durable materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, or other corrosion-resistant metals. This ensures that they can withstand exposure to water and harsh marine environments without rusting or deteriorating.
Types: There are several types of dock ladders available, including straight, angled, or telescoping ladders. The choice of ladder type depends on the specific requirements of the docking area and the water depth.
Mounting: Dock ladders can be mounted to the dock or pier in various ways, such as by bolting them directly to the structure, using brackets, or clamping systems. The mounting method should be secure and stable to ensure the safety of users.
Steps: Dock ladders have steps or rungs for individuals to climb up or down. These steps are typically designed with non-slip surfaces or textured treads to enhance safety, even when wet.
Handrails: Many dock ladders are equipped with handrails or grab handles to provide additional support and stability for users. Handrails are particularly important for individuals with limited mobility or when carrying equipment.
Retractable or Folding Ladders: Some dock ladders are designed to be retractable or folding, allowing them to be easily stowed away when not in use. This feature is especially useful on boats with limited deck space.
Safety: Safety is paramount when using dock ladders. Users should exercise caution, especially when the ladder is wet, and adhere to recommended weight limits. Proper installation and maintenance of the ladder are essential to ensure its continued safety and functionality.
Regulations: Depending on the location and intended use, there may be local or regional regulations governing the installation and use of dock ladders. Boaters and dock owners should be aware of and comply with any applicable regulations.
Dock ladders are essential for boaters, swimmers, and water enthusiasts as they provide a safe and convenient way to enter and exit the water. Whether on a private dock, a public marina, or a commercial waterfront facility, these ladders play a crucial role in enhancing water access and safety for all those who enjoy recreational activities on the water.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this ladder hold 285 lbs |
Answer: | If it says red, then it's just red. search up the KM780 RGB if you want multi-color RGB lighting, but they're the exact same keyboard otherwise. On the RGB model as well you can change the color of each individual key with the help of the G.SKILL software and program different lighting modes like wave and ripple, which are pretty cool for me. The RGB model of the KM780 does cost like $50 more than the red backlight one though, so if you just want a sturdy metal casing keyboard that will last you a couple years, get the red backlight one. I own both personally, one for my main computer and another for my sibling that's barely getting into PC gaming. |
Question: | How do I order additional mounting hardware |
Answer: | Yeah |
Question: | I received the boat ladder I ordered - the box is destroyed but it looks like most of the stuff is in it- not sure do |
Answer: | The keyboard should work in BIOS. If it doesn't for you, try flipping the switch on top from "G" to "S". And make sure that the keyboard is plugged into the USB ports that are set to be detected by the motherboard on boot. |
Question: | Is this ladder made of aluminum and does it come with installation bolts |
Answer: | As others have said, the differences are in the feel and the sound. The reds are the most "fluid" and will likely be the most silent, whereas the blues are going to be the loudest and are the most "clicky." The browns are somewhere between the two. The way that most people choose is depending on what you plan to do with the keyboard. If you'll primarily be typing, then the blues are considered to offer the best experience. If you'll primarily be gaming, then the reds are considered superior. If you'd be doing a mixture of both, then the browns are the way to go. Those are opinions of general consensus rather than hard rules, but if you're feeling overwhelmed or confused then it's not a bad place to start. (For what it's worth, I primarily type and went with the brown switches, and love them. I've never tried the blue or red, but it doesn't matter: this feels way better to type on than a non-mechanical keyboard, for sure.) |

Question: | I see amazon states the steps are 21" wide but can someone measure and tell me how deep the steps are? Thanks |
Answer: | I don't know what a porta-bote is but this ladder is not great. I regretted going cheap. It made getting in my boat very hard. |

Answer: | It has large arms or hooks that go over the back or side of boat. Makes it easy to get in a boat. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this ladder come with the attachments necessary to bolt to your dock or are they sold separately? I can’t find where it states either way. Thank |
Answer: | "Yes it is" is the correct response, but mine did not come with one of the mounting brackets. I called and left messages many time with no response. When I finally got a response, instead of the bracket, they sent me 2 bolts(that were broken). I got a transome saver for my boat from Extreme Max that broke first time out. I wouldn't trust this company at all |
Question: | Will this dock ladder attach to a floating concrete dock |
Answer: | I would think so. Just make sure the pool is deep enough. It will have to be bolted to the deck and have straight down clearance to the water. |
Question: | Where do you buy the hardware to install the ladder |
Answer: | I have the 5 step ladder. The steps are 2" (inches) deep. |
Question: | how side of a flat area do you need to mount the horizontal mounting bars to a deck surface |
Answer: | No, it stands vertically and a pin locks it in place. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it push away from you when you stand on it? Would it hit the side of my above ground pool wall when someone climbs out |
Answer: | Hello, the mounting hardware is not included and sold separately. With various mounting decks, wood and styles, including a mounting bolt to encompass all scenarios is impossible. We recommend a 3/8" bolt with a washer. |

Question: | What hardware is required to install the ladder? Is it just 31/2" hex screws x |

User questions & answers
Question: | How deep is the top of the ladder? I am trying to understand how far from the dock edge, the part that mounts onto the deck extends onto the dock |
Answer: | As I remember the ladder was assembled but tilt had to be attached. |
Question: | is it available with 5 steps |
Answer: | My guess is maybe 250 lbs. possibly 300lbs. I don't recall a weight limit in the product description. We have 200-225 lb people using ladder regularly. Only problem we have is pulling ourselves up when coming out of the water! |
Question: | Does it come with mounting hardware |
Answer: | The site shows ladders affixed to wood planks and steel docks. I suppose the depth of your concrete dock would dictate whether the bolt lengths are adequate. |
Question: | How wide are steps |
Answer: | The ladder is installed securely on the dock. If the ladder is in the up position, it stays up though nothing locks it. It could be pulled to the down position from a boat. You could purchase a lock to go around it and secure it. |
Question: | Does the ladder, including steps, come pre-assembled |
Answer: | Sorry. My application is different. I am using it on my dock, and it hangs straight down against the wooden wall. So I can't really answer your question other than it's sturdy, but pretty short. Wish I had bought a longer ladder. |
Question: | Weight limit |
Answer: | Don't see why not. Just use screws for concrete-- assuming it is a convrete seawall |
Question: | Can you bolt to edge of concrete dock and use provided bolts |
Answer: | Yes, use stainless steel screws. |
Question: | I live on river and theft is a problem. Is ladder sucure when up position |
Answer: | Just push on on the ladder and it will release from the grooved lock position. |

Answer: | the mounting handle extends 15" in from the dock edge |
Question: | How much human weight does this ladder hold |
Answer: | I believe it can be ordered with 5 steps but I think 5 is the limit for this design. You may want to contact the manufacturer directly. He is very responsive. |
Question: | What is the outside width of the ladder frame and what id the width of the steps |
Answer: | Yes, it comes with galvanized 3/8 hardware for wooden dock installation. I installed mine on a seawall with a concrete cap so I used my own 316 stainless anchor bolts. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I am interested in this ladder for my dock. However I do not see the at rest position that allows people to climb up, without bending the ladder |
Answer: | The ladder is so heavy duty it will not bend. I installed mine with extra board under dock for more support just because the ladder is so strong. |
Question: | Where was it made |
Answer: | We don't know but we can highly recommend this ladder. We had two others and finally got the best possible ladder in this one. When we are at the lake, everyone comments about how awesome it is and easy to use. We love it! |
Question: | what is the weight limit for the ladder |
Answer: | They say 250 lbs. I'm 225 and I feel as if I'm testing the limit. The ladder is suspended from my dock. I'm satisfied |
Question: | I have aluminum dock with straight sides. The ladder steps slant away from the sides of the dock so no support is behind the steps. Wrong ladder |
Answer: | This is a ladder for a pontoon boat. It is designed with steps on a slant to avoid contact with the pontoons (round cylinders). It is supported by the brackets that are attached to the flat deck (floor) of the boat. I would think that it would be fine for your dock. We are VERY happy with our purchase of this item for our pontoon boat. |

Question: | Is it possible to buy a replacement set of mounting hooks? I need the j-shaped hardware that are part of the ladder, as shown on the fourth photo |
Answer: | Has not been hot enough to know this year. Old aluminum ladder did not get too hot in NW Florida. |
Question: | Is there a weight rating on this ladder? I am close to 60 years old and weigh 240. ( All muscle |
Answer: | Yes, you can mount the ladder to the top of the dock. There are 4 holes in the lower section of the handles. You will have to drill the 4 holes down through the dock to attach. You will have to buy the long screws and bolts to attach it to the dock. They are not supplied. You may need a drill bit that goes through steel when drilling the exact hole to match the ladder holes. Hope this helps. Ed |
Question: | How high off the deck is the flat bracket that holds the ladder? Foldup platform on the stern of my boat leaves very little space |
Answer: | about 2.5 ft. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does the 4 foot dock ladder include all mounting hardware? If not what hardware is required |
Answer: | Yes I baught several they are perfect for alternatives locations on the boate or dock |
Question: | What is the weight capacity |
Answer: | Don't know the answer but have a friend who is close to 280-300 and works fine.Would go with the longer ladder its much easier for you to get out of the water only issue is getting ladder out of water its a little heavier. Not sure if the longer is 4 steps or 5 |
Question: | the 5 step ladder appears to be two pieces? how does the bottom attach, is hardware included for tha |
Answer: | Bracket is about 1/2" tall. When the ladder is attached it adds another 1/2". So total 1 inch. |
Question: | Why isn’t the hardware included in the box |
Answer: | Hi, on the picture (top left extreme) you might be able to discern a small nub at the intersection point of the upper hand hold and the cross support to the ladder side rail. That nub is a flat hook - the outer end of which is turned upward. In the installation kit are 2 associated bar hoops which attach to your flat deck/dock surface with long machine bolts/nuts. Once the bar hoops are properly spaced/installed the ladder flat hooks insert under the deck/dock bar hoops when the ladder is tilted up. With the flat hooks inserted under the bar hoops and the ladder lowered until the side-rail crossmembers rest on the deck, the ladder is essentially locked into position; however, lifting/tilting the ladder up releases the ladder flat hooks from the deck/dock bar hoops and allows the ladder to be removed easily. In summary, the only permanent attachment to the deck/dock are the bar hoops - the ladder is easily removeable. |
