Answer:	Hi Hannah,,, The leash is low profile 3/8". The material is Polypropylene which is waterproof. It is a woven leash so like all woven products will hold some water (very little). I personally use 8 of these at a time when off shore fishing. (some of these and some Cinch Lock models) Everything gets lashed down and gets wet going out in the surf. The water retention is negligible and never has been a problem in any way for me. This is a very versatile leash, it has fixed elongation and will not over stretch. This allows it to be used as a wading leash for your kayak as well. It stays wet when doing this and its just not a problem, I hope you like them,,,, Tim,, CK
