Depending on the size of your framed opening this should give you 2 to 3” of adjustment room. Another approach would he to fold the bottom edge evenly around the perimeter by the amount you need to shorten the height, secure the folded part it with duct tape, And then staple it to the frame.

Answer:	I would say no unless it's heated It's made to deflect heat.

Answer:	You can use it for your basement ceiling. I'm not sure how much of a temp differance you'll see on the floor above though. I don't think that it can be painted. At least not look very good if it was painted.

Answer:	The best thing about this product is it is lightweight and lets air flow down and out due to it's amazing construction. We put it in out pool house and have seen a drastic drop in heat and cooling. Answer:	I got it for a 8'x14' tool shed. I just attached it to the walls, and ceiling. Between the studs, and joists, with a staple gun and a large pair of scissors. It was easy and has lowered the temperature inside the shed by 5 degrees F.

Answer:	I am 230lbs, I sleep on the top just fine. The weight capacity is for the wood slats and a bunky board makes that capacity the strength of the posts, which if you put a hardwood 3x3 under a car, it would hold the car up. The only problem is if an earthquake happens, it will collapse with that much weight if you dont attach it to stud or 2 on the wall.
