10 best gt dual suspension mountain bikes
GT dual suspension mountain bikes are high-quality bicycles designed for off-road cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts, including kids and young riders. These bikes are known for their dual suspension system, which consists of both front and rear suspension, offering improved comfort, control, and performance on rough and challenging terrains. Here are some key features and information about GT dual suspension mountain bikes:
Dual Suspension: The defining feature of GT dual suspension mountain bikes is the presence of both front and rear suspension systems. This setup helps absorb shocks and impacts encountered while riding on uneven, bumpy trails, providing a smoother and more comfortable ride.
Frame Construction: GT dual suspension bikes typically feature durable frames made from materials like aluminum or carbon fiber. These materials strike a balance between strength and weight, ensuring the bike is capable of handling tough trails while remaining relatively lightweight.
Suspension Components: The front suspension, often referred to as the fork, is equipped with suspension forks from reputable brands like RockShox or Fox. The rear suspension may use a variety of designs, such as a rear shock absorber connected to a pivot point in the frame.
Wheel Size: GT offers dual suspension mountain bikes in various wheel sizes, including 27.5 inches (650b) and 29 inches. The choice of wheel size can affect the bike's handling characteristics and suitability for different types of terrain.
Braking System: These bikes typically come equipped with high-quality disc brakes, providing reliable stopping power in all weather conditions. Disc brakes are essential for maintaining control on steep descents and technical trails.
Gearing: GT dual suspension mountain bikes are often equipped with a range of gears, with multiple front chainrings and a rear cassette. This wide gear range allows riders to tackle steep climbs and maintain speed on descents.
Tire Selection: The choice of tires can vary based on the specific model, but GT typically equips their dual suspension bikes with knobby, off-road tires designed for excellent traction and control on trails.
Pedals: These bikes may come with platform pedals, allowing riders to use standard athletic shoes. More advanced riders might prefer clipless pedals for increased efficiency.
Rider Experience: GT offers dual suspension mountain bikes for riders of various skill levels, from beginners to experienced mountain bikers. Kids' models are designed with safety and comfort in mind, with appropriately sized frames and components.
Price Range: The price of GT dual suspension mountain bikes can vary widely depending on the model and its features. Entry-level models are typically more budget-friendly, while high-end models come with advanced components and a higher price tag.
GT dual suspension mountain bikes are suitable for riders who want to explore off-road trails, tackle technical descents, and enjoy the thrill of mountain biking. Whether for kids or adults, these bikes provide the necessary features and durability to handle a variety of terrain and trail conditions.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the right size bike for height |
Answer: | Must be able to have 1 foot flat on the ground while seated. Depends on the inseam measurement of the rider. Thankfully, the seat is adjustable. This bike fits my 5’9” son perfectly. |
Question: | Can the rear suspension be locked |
Answer: | Not really, and not on the fly. This bike is more of a cruiser than a mountain bike. So the suspension is very bouncy, but it is adjustable. It is very well suited for railroad trail tracking, and light trails. The suspension does not do that well for moderate to difficult trails. |
Question: | I am 6'7" tall with 38 inseam, I read on several post where 29r is the tallest mountain bke? Is anyone over 6'5" riding this bike? how does it fit |
Answer: | It's the internet, you are getting bs answers. This bike has an 18" frame and 29" tires. It is not the tallest bike. You should look for a larger frame bike. Just pulling the seat up is a bad joke on a new purchase. Lots of resources online to determine correct frame size for your height and inseam. You need an extra large frame bike, and yes, they do make them. |
Question: | This seems like an nice alternative to the Mongoose Impasse 29er sold on amazon for about the same price. Would anyone like to compare the two. thanks |
Answer: | I don't own either of these. But I'm looking to buy one of them. From what I can see, one important factor is that Schwinn seems to be giving a lifetime warranty while mongoose's is limited. Also, the page for mongoose doesn't see to have a quick release for the rear wheels, but I don't know if the seller just forgot to mention it. Also, I believe the Schwinn has trigger shifters while the mongoose has twist shifters. |

Answer: | Yes, it does. |
Question: | Can this bike handle people who weigh 300lbs |
Answer: | I personally own this bike, and weigh over 300lbs. I did have a problem with it right after I bought it though. The first time riding it I was going up a small hill and the chain popped. I don't mean just came off the sprocket, I mean sheared in half. I simply brought it to a bike shop and had then put on a better quality chain. I haven't had a problem with it yet. I use it on the street, and even take it off road sometimes. |
Question: | What is the shipping weight? What is the weight of the bicycle |
Answer: | The bikes weight is 40 lbs |
Question: | does bike come assembled |
Answer: | It come 7/8ths assembled. You only need to attach the front wheel, put the seat on and tighten the handlebars. Very, very simple and anyone can do it. BTW it's a great bike! |

How it all began:
Founded in 1974 in a Southern California garage, Mongoose was born when founder Skip Hess designed the MotoMag One wheel to make BMX bikes stronger with a rad new look. From there, BMX riding turned from an underground hobby to a full-blown phenomenon, with Mongoose's innovative products continually forging the sport's exciting new path. Mongoose riders dominated the BMX race circuit in the 1980s, while the company continued to push bicycle boundaries by pioneering the first wave of full-suspension mountain bike frames. Today, Mongoose continues to create products that push riders to thrilling new limits, whether it's ripping through gnarly mountain trails, stomping tricks in the park or owning the urban jungle. From reinventing the wheel to our current line of BMX, mountain and pavement bikes, Mongoose is synonymous with pure, unadulterated performance that always keeps the party going.

User questions & answers
Question: | Could I change the tires to 29 in |
Answer: | If you don't mind getting your hands dirty (literally) on the internals of a bike then you could at least add a 29" wheel to the front by changing out the 26" front fork and rim for a 29" one. This is known in the trade as building a "96er". It also takes some getting used to riding as 96ers handle strangely at first if all you've ever ridden is standard 26ers. Please don't bother wasting time asking your ultra-professional, by-the-book conformist LBS to set this up -- it's kind of an unorthodox hack so they probably won't. Been there done that. It's pretty much a custom DIY thing. On the upside it gets you inside the bike and you get to learn how the things all go together -- good to develop your skills as you work towards doing your first complete teardown and overhaul; something I think everybody with a bike ought to know even if only as a hobby.Ahem. If nothing else you MIGHT be able to cram 27.5" wheels on if there is enough clearance (the difference in wheel radius is only +3/4" (centre to rim)) and you use narrow enough tyres. This is what I am currently running with my 26"-spec Polaris Ranger (Rock Shox XC26 front/stock back) and Continental somethingorother 1.75" tyres. It works great and handles surprisingly well when the wheels are straight and aligned despite having maybe only 1/4" left to clear the bridge, but boy, what a fathermucker when they go out of true. But then this kind of whimsical experimentation is what hacking is all about innit?YRMV. |
Question: | My son is 14 years old what size you recommend for him |
Answer: | Sizing Guide15 inch = Sml fits* up to 5'6"17 inch = Med fits* up to 5'8"19 inch = Lr fits* up to 6'21 inch = XLrg fits* 6'1" and taller(*approx. sizing - your final choice is up to personal preferences)This is a general guide. Between sizes? Size down for lower handlebars, more straddle clearance, short arms/legs/torso. If you size up, you may touch when straddling. Size up for taller handlebars, long arms/legs/torso. Sizing is a personal preference, the final choice is up to you |
Question: | How is the quality build, from gravity to mongoose, never owned either before |
Answer: | The quality of the Gravity is good! Never had a Mongoose either, but myself and my 2 teenagers and 10 yr old have the Gravity and we all love it. The gears are really smooth and the shocks are good too. |
Question: | What is the hook shaped piece with the check mark or "J" stamp? Putting bike together but don't know where it goes |
Answer: | I couldn't figure it out either. Bike works great without it...wherever it is supposed to go. I thought instructions were a little weak in that regard, but things seemed to go together well and bike has been running great for over a year. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does the suspension compare with a walmart bike |
Answer: | It works really good, I’m using it all the days for going to my job and it’s working fine |
Question: | I am trying to raise the handlebar a bit higher. Doesn’t seem to be any height adjustment at all. Is that right |
Answer: | I am riding this bike without a problem. I think, 160cm ~ up to 180cm might be suitable to ride this bike. I don't know how to measure the bike, body dimension |
Question: | How do I get parts replaced on my new bike |
Answer: | My best guess would be that this bike would not fit. As always I make my judgment leaning on safety first. Under the guidance of safety, straddle the top frame and stand flat footed on the ground. If you have an inch or two of space between you and the frame you are good to go. Based off your height I can not comfortably say this bike will fit but maybe you have a long inseam and in that case go for it. |
Question: | What size person would this be for? i am 6 foot 200 pounds? do i need to upgrade to a 19" frame or will i fit alright on this |
Answer: | 36.4 lbs |
Question: | Does this really work |
Answer: | The frame size is 19 in. Keep in mind this bike has 27.5 inch wheels and tires as opposed to 26 inch. |
Question: | Can I get the dimensions of the bike? I need the “body” dimensions |
Answer: | No, it's a 26" bike |
Question: | Im 5'3 is this a good fit for someone thats short |
Answer: | Not quite sure, but think it's somewhat more on the lighter side. |
Question: | How much does it weight? I would like to know the actual weight and not a guess |
Answer: | About 30 pounds |
