Answer:	De Walt was selling replacement Lithium Ion 18V batteries that would retrofit into 18V tools that came manufactured with older style Ni-Cad batteries. You have to also buy a different charger for the Li-Ion's but it is well worth it and use of the Li-Ion reduces the weight of the tool in your hands vs. the Ni-Cads too. I've had two of the replacement 18V Li-Ion batteries for five years now and they are still going strong. Less expensive than replacing perfectly good power tools to switch battery types.
