Firstly you will need to place the key labeled D1251 into a lock core and proceed to slide the lock core into the Thule carrier lock housing (following the appropriate grooves or markings) Then, while holding with your thumb on the head of the lock cylinder, pull out that D1251 key and insert the regular key coded to that lock to either lock or unlock it. Answer:	Yes it should fit. I had a little issue with mine, because I have a 12volt outlet on my Suburban right next to the hitch. So it was a bit of a tight fit with the head of the lock making locking/unlocking difficult. But I don't intend to take the rack off the hitch ever, or rarely if ever.Hope that helps.
Question:	I'm new to all this and just got an suv with a tow hitch. What exactly does this attachment do
Answer:	If you're familiar with conventional hitch pins, there's always a slight looseness between the hitch and whatever is attached via the pin because of loose tolerances. The newer Thule racks that fit into a hitch can't be secured by the conventional pin but requires a threaded bolt that tightens the portion of the rack that's inserted into the hitch receiver against the bolt side. This creates a tight fit and takes out all the sway that would be caused by a loose fit, thusly, the Thule phrase "anti-wobble." A conventional bolt you can buy for 70 cents at the hardware store would do the exact same thing. What makes this system a bit better is that the bolt goes through the hitch and that portion sticks out and can be locked. So, essentially, you're paying more than $50 for a locking bolt. The lock mitigates the chance of theft of the entire rack and also keeps the bolt from back out and possibly losing the rack and your bikes as you rumble down the road. Some clever folks are creating their own locking bolts or simply secure the entire rack and bikes by running a cable through the bikes, through a hole drilled in the rack and through the holes already existing in the hitch assembly.

Answer:	Your rack came with 2 keys, one is your normal use key that you use to lock and unlock the lock. The other key was a master key, that removes the lock cylinder. Hopefully you still have it!

Answer:	Good afternoon, well ... I can say this, I have the Vertex 2 bike rack on a Reese hitch and it works perfectly. Seems to be well made too. Just screw the lock / bolt in to the hitch & rack, pop the lock on and BING, BANG, BOOM ... your rack is secure. Hope this helps.

Answer:	Kanulock was the originator of the locking tie down 12 years ago. They use 2-2.4mm wires in each strap as opposed to Thule's single 2mm wire. Thule stitches two 1inch pieces of stiff nylon around a wire which makes Thule straps extremely stiff and cannot be easily tied off. Kanulock does not use stitching. They use soft polypropylene with woven pockets so their straps can be tied in a tight knot even with 2 wires! ALSO THULE STRAPS CAN BE OPENED WITH A COFFEE STIR STICK FROM STARBUCKS IN LESS THAN 20 SECONDS (there are YouTube videos showing this). They just have a cheap plastic cover that locks over the cam and can be pulled off by hand. Kanulock has a patented locking cam which is why theirs actually locks and cannot be opened without the key! Thule is a cheap knockoff that does not actually work!

Answer:	If you have the lock # I assume Thule can match or you can switch out cylinders. I received a #203 and. #205 so I need 2 keys right now but I will look to switch out the cylinders to match my ski rack so they are all #205’s and I only need one Thule key year round.

Answer:	I have, of course, never tried to cut them. But you can see the wire braid that is inside to prevent any cutting. They are secure

Answer:	I would be cautious using these straps. A Popsicle stick can open the lock, and the straps are so coarse and rigid they will damage a bike finish if they rub at all.
