Answer:	I don't know why I always used with water. Not sure it makes a difference in the sharpening process or is James so the metal shavings do not go anywhere. I never try oil but I feel it would be absorbed by the stone and if saturated, would make the stone slippery and potentially dangerous.

Answer:	In sand or Loam, yes. In Hard clay or packed gravel, I wouldn't think so. It is heavy duty and sturdy.

Answer:	It has a very sharp edge and more than 4", so unlikely TSA would allow as carry-on.

Answer:	The answer to your question is "sort of". The handle swings back and then has to be squeezed together a little to be pushed into the receiver which holds it tightly. It does not have a "safety" which latches but once the handle is inside the receiver it has to be squeezed fairly hard to take it out so in essence it locks but if the handle is squeezed AND a lot of force is exerted while using it then it can slip out. Answer:	as of this writing oct 2017 on botach.com they have an old supply of the original Made in USA shovels. current stock is 231. I bought 4 of these shovels on their website between Sept 2017 and Oct 2017 and they were the original made in USA shovels. They do not come with covers they are being sold for $15 with no tax and free shipping. On botachs website just search for Udig and the shovel will pop up and on Botach website it still gives the product description of Made in the USA.

Answer:	I have one and I've replaced the striker twice. You just have to find the right size to fit. I use mine all the time in the woods and for camping also.

Answer:	I agree in some part that the striker is not the best. Mine will not stay shut. But it is a decent one handed operation if that is what might be a possibility. I practice just to keep my skills up.

Answer:	I couldn't see it believe a problem as a check in bag, definitely not for a carry on. In this case though, I wouldn't take someones word on amazon. Call TSA yourself and find out.

Answer:	The claim of 100 strikes is conservative. It MIGHT wear out that quickly if you used extreme pressure. But the ferro rod is not huge, and it does wear down. Mine will probably be gone before 200 strikes.
