Answer:	I looked at Chargriller site and the 5050 and 5030 have different model numbers for the heat shield. The 5030 is MODEL #: 900282. The 5050 is MODEL #: 100001 and has no holes in the top of the shield. As far as length goes, it doesn't state nor does it state interchangeability. It just may fit but I would search by the shield part number (900282) first. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for.

Answer:	You are correct! the 5050-Duo is in fact welded! In my case the originals had rusted out; I flattened the old brackets the best I could then drilled holds to mount the new brackets; its a little more time/effort but it work like a champ!

The elastic string inside the sticks is now that strong either so be careful not to have it rub against anything sharp.

Answer:	No, I wouldn't take a one pound stool on a back pack trip. I'd sit on a log or rock, and might take a lightweight seat pad. If I was going to add weight, I would look for a very lightweight one with a back on it, so I could also rest my back.

Answer:	This chair is aprx 18" from solid surface to seat. Mobility issues such as mine (arthritic knees) did not handle being able to lower myself down to the seat, another 6" would make this chair much more manageable.
