You're trapping the heat against yourself as well as whatever surface the pad is on- bed, chair, etc. I have used a heating pad on my back for many years now, usually leaning against it and have been fine. However, I know other people who have been burned by theirs- my mother, who was receiving chemo, got a large burn on her back. Be smart about it- check the area often and allow it to cool off completely periodically if you need to lay/sit on it.

Answer:	It looks like most of the other answers from 2017 and earlier showed their pads got hot, around 140 degrees, and all the answers from 2020 say the pad barely got warm. I just tried it out today and was disappointed that it wasn't getting hot. So I used my infrared digital thermometer (doesn't everyone have one due to COVID-19?) to check the temp, and the highest temp setting was only 104. Plan to return. The only thing this pad has to do is provide heat, and it doesn't.

Question:	Why is that number 2 appearing? I can use it! The same problem as in the video someone uploaded
Answer:	Mine stay warm for around 30 minutes, with slightly decreasing heat as time goes. When it cools down I just reheat it for a less amount of time considering that it's already warm, so for about 45-50 seconds. For me, I heat one hot pocket in the microwave for 60 seconds initially. Sometimes I'll heat three at a time (cause I like one for my back, one for my neck and one for my knees) for three minutes, so the general rule of thumb is 60 seconds per hot pocket.

Answer:	If you put the foot end at the top you will defeat (or de-feet (LOL)) the zones temperature feature. It has a warmer zone at the bottom and a cooler zone near the head with a medium Zone in the middle. I get cold feet and love the warmer part on the bottom. Don't flip this around to plug it in at the head of the bed. The cards are long enough to go under the bed and plug into the wall outlet as well as the controls .

Answer:	Yes!!! What do you want to do? Scald yourself? It gets plenty warm on 6, and perfect for animal heating with covers on 3-4. Forget the meat thermometer answer! It will get hot enough to burn you if you’re not alert and you choose to set it manually and not auto-shut-off. It happened to me, though it just hurt for a couple days without a wound. So, that’s enough! I use it to warm myself up in the evening and keep the heat at 65 degrees throughout winter to save money. Why heat the entire house? Question:	Does this heating pad have auto shut off
Answer:	The one I bought in August 2019 has the option of auto shut-off or manual override... and will stay on indefinitely. I just hope it still has this function as it’s needed to keep my elderly cat warm throughout the night. I set it at either 3-4 depending on the blankets I use over it. 6 is too hot for her, even though cats and dogs have normal temps at approximately 4 degrees higher than humans... that’s why they feel so great in our laps! This is a MUST for heating pads for animal care use. Remember though, to always allow the animal a way to get away from the heat if needed - use on only half the cage (if caged) but allow burrowing ability on the non- heated side too. It’s a shame that other companies don’t offer this... as heating pads are used in many ways. A 2 hour shut off is great for preventing burns to elderly, non-aware or forgetful humans, but useless for any other need! When the pad failed, after Amazon return period, they provided a new set, shipped quickly and didn’t require a return. The pad is used at least 5 days a week for hours and has functioned perfectly ever since replacement- over a year ago. Great, responsive company... no hassle.

Question:	Size for a large calf
Answer:	I have a power bed .... but pad only lasted 7 months.... only 3 months of use. Nothing to do with the power bed I would imagine. I think the matress pad wires just broke from laying in them.
Question:	How long does it stay hot
Answer:	I bought the Full size and the plug is dead center and perfectly placed so the heel(s) of my feet land on it. So basically my feet hit it all the time and it's rather annoying. Not as annoying as the low power output, which is enough to break the chill of a cold bed but warm is not a word I'd use. So if you get it you may want to put the plug on the head side, but I don't do this because I did that with my last pad and the pillow held the heat in so the insulation on the wires and the blanket around them had turned brown. Clearly a potential fire hazard but that pad had three times the power of this one so I doubt this one is a risk, but something to think about.
Question:	Is it two in the package or only one
Answer:	Yes. Hint- to avoid bumping the controls with our toes I installed it with the hookup at the head. We love it!

Answer:	Only hsndwash, spot clean. When you receive it there are cleaning instructions that come with it.

Answer:	Not sure what you need for the warranty replacement. If you bought through amazon “prime” I believe they will replace or return simply by looking up the order #. It may save you some time to return it and purchase another warmer directly through a manufacturer. My earthlite warmer that I ordered directly through the manufacturer (earthlite) is the best one I’ve had.

Answer:	I did a chat with a customer service rep from sunbeam. You will need to still have the product. The customer service agent needs the numbers from the prongs. I only did the chat today. I am still waiting for an acknowledgement email. I will update my review and best of luck.

Answer:	The pad stayed on and it was working great until the other day my son went to use it and no matter what you set it on, it is lukewarm.

Not sure how thick your cabinet door is but that is not a standard cabinet door thickness
