The difference being that a wood burning stove is used to cook on etc. (pioneer stove) and a wood burning fireplace would be an open faced firebox with chimney. I have a wood burning fireplace that is enclosed but as a fresh air inlet that I power by fan, I use creosote remover frequently to keep the system clean and free of any potential hazards.. I like these fire starters for the value foremost but in conjunction with fire starting squares I can select the size needed and simply break apart with my hands. Once lit it creates a large hot flame that works every time. I use about a 2"x2" cube for each fire so I can easily start 6 fires to one brick and there are 2 in a pack times 5 :-) for $13 thats well worth it... |

I cannot tell you how easy firing up my Joe is with these nuggets. I do not know if anyone has advised you, but I find removing the ash hopper lets more air in and my Joe heats up more quickly. They work like a charm, in fact, much better than kindling because very small pieces of wood incinerate quickly where this has a nice slow burn which will help get your fire started. Here's a piece of advice, if you're not already doing so dig a small hole at the bottom of your fire pit to shield wind from these cubes. It's just about the only drawback of these things that I can say. Their heat is not intense and are prone to being blown out in the right wind conditions. If you just having small campfires these things are fantastic. Hope this helps. |
