User questions & answers

Question: msr dragonfly nest into it
Answer: The 775 and 1.6 both are stable on the pocket rocket, no issues. Not so much on my alcohol stove.
Question: NO mention of the size and capacity . How big are the pots? How much oz/ml do they hold
Answer: Thanks! It was a little confusing because when I would click on the two smaller pots, the picture would show a stainless steel pot with a black label and of course the label says it is stainless steel. However, when I would click on either the 1.1 Liter or 1.6 Liter pots in the drop-down choice box then it would say "one color" and their was NO black label on the pot. So, I just wanted to make sure that the 1.1 Liter pots I was ordering (two of them) would also be stainless steel.
Question: Can you tell me where this cookware set is made? I am looking for something made in the USA, not China. Anyone know of a camping cookset for backpacki
Answer: MSR Alpine Stowaway Pot 775ml Dimensions:O.D.: 5.6"W (6.8"W incl folded/clasped handle) x 3"H (3.4"H incl top lid handle)Pot I.D.: 5.5"W x 2.45"D Lid I.D.: 5.35"W x 0.71"D (0.25" of the Lid Depth is the recessed portion that fits inside the pot)Measured with a caliper. I decided to add some more accurate dimensions incl O.D. and I.D. for those who, like myself, were interested not only how much space it would occupy in a pack but also what could be stored inside it. As it is the popular small stainless portable wood stove (sold here on Amazon under several different brand names like Ohuhu, DoCooler, SoLoMan, FAMI, uSmile, etc) which collapses down to 5.2"W x 2.75"H fits neatly inside this MSR Alpine Stowaway 775ml pot.
Question: Could this set of pots be used for open fire(campfire) cooking
Answer: the msr alpine bowl will not only nest in there, it also works well to bake in! i baked great cornbread in the greased bowl which was inside the stowaway pot & placed in the firepit with lots of coals below, & a few on top. i had the pot upside down so coals would stay on top of it, on top of the bottom that is. i will add additional pics to my review showing this.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the length I want to use it for a campfire
Answer: Hi,The length of hendle is 4.5" (11 cm)
Question: Will this work on the wind boiler, if I take off the outer shell
Answer: Maybe, if the pot has a flange for the clamp to hold onto. It won't support a heavy pot very well. Mine actually bent trying to hold a large pot of spaghetti in water. They're ok for lightweight backpack pots.
Question: How heavy of a pot can this pickup? Would it be able to grab and lift a 6qt stainless steel pot that is full of water
Answer: 8 quarts of water weigh close to12 lbs. plus the weight of the pot; If I needed to pick up something that heavy & sloshy with one of these... I would USE TWO OF THESE, on opposite sides of the pot. Using two of them sure would be easier than dealing with a loss of flesh on the hands & legs due to scalding water. Think it over, and play SAFE!
Question: How much does it weigh
Answer: It is super light, about 10 gram.

  • The Package Length Of The Product Is 5.59 Centimeters
  • The Package Width Of The Product Is 20.32 Centimeters

User questions & answers

Question: Whats the weight of pan
Answer: The pan weighs 300g or about 10.7 oz.
Question: What are the inside and outside dimensions of this fry pan? I've that it will/won't fit inside the 1.6l Stowaway, or that the 1.6l will nest in it
Answer: The alpine fry pan fits outside of the alpine 2 liter pot (the middle pot of the alpine 4 and the larger pot of the alpine 2) The 1.6 liter stow away will fit inside the pan but it doesn't go all the to the bottom due to the taper of the pan sides and the width of the 1.6l stow away which is more than the 2l alpine apparently. In practice it would work as long as you're ok with the fact that the stow away could rock back and forth. You could use an Arno strap to hold it all together. I'll make a YouTube video about this subject this weekend if you want. I'll call it 'MSR alpine fry pan compatibility.' Look out for it.
Question: Can you make bannock in this frying pan
Answer: I haven't tried making bannock in it myself, but it is a sturdy skillet so I think you should be able to make it. Here's a recipe I found that I might try. Enjoy! Ingredients- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour- 2 tsp. baking powder- ½ tsp. salt- ½ tsp. sugar- 3 Tbsp. lard, bacon grease or canola oil- 1 cup cold waterDirections:1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. (This mix can be made in advance and kept in a zip-top bag or other airtight container until ready to use.)2. Stir in the fat and slowly pour in the water, while stirring, until a firm dough forms. You may not need to use the whole cup of water.3. Knead the dough for a minute or two, then set aside to let rise for at least 30 minutes.4. Divide and flatten the dough into small round discs. Fry in a greased skillet set over a medium fire, turning once, until cooked through about 20 minutes.
Question: is there a lid for this pan
Answer: This pan does not come with a lid, and I do not think one is made for it.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this a 4 pot set or a 3 pot set - "includes: (1) 1l pot, (1) 2l pot, (1) 3l pot, (3) lids/plates, (1) panhandler™ pot handle, and stuff sack
Answer: The Alpine 4 pot set is misnamed by MSR. Actually what MSR is trying to convey is that the Alpine 4 group cook set. Which is a cook set that can cook for 4 people. In fact it only has 3 pots, 3 lids/plates and a pot gripper.
Question: What are the dimensions of each pot
Answer: 3liter with lid is 9" diameter 4.25" tall approx2 liter is 7.5" diameter and 4" tall1 liter is 5.75" diameter and a little less than 3.5" tall
Question: Can these pots be used for open fire cooking
Answer: Yes, but there are some issues: first, the grab handle is relatively short and won't work if you want to put it in the middle of the fire with bare hands; second, you can't use the grab handle with the lid on anyway (which you'd probably want). If you're willing to use gloves, on the other hand, they're the perfect choice. There's no worries about damaging them, they're thick enough that they should stand up to years of use and abuse, and they clean up nicely.
Question: What is the size of each pot? how many Quarts do they hold
Answer: 1/2/3 liter pots. Google it. This is from the MSR website: Includes: (1) 1L pot, (1) 2L pot, (1) 3L pot, (3) lids/plates, (1) PanHandler™ pot handle, and stuff sack.

User questions & answers

Question: What pot does this pair with
Answer: Don't know sorry...wouldn't think a pot would nest inside anyway if that's what you're asking...interior of skillet is Teflon coated...a metal pot would scratch it I suppose.
Question: Will this work with the windburner since they no longer sell the one specifically designed for the winder burner
Answer: I do not own a Windburner system but I do use my skillet from time to time with the Jetboil Burner. I have seen the Windburner in action and u can use all manner of pots and skillets on it. Be careful not to leave it unattended as it will not be stable.
Question: Is this frying pan campfire usable
Answer: Ooo no, I wouldn’t recommend it for use over a campfire. Jetboil yes.
Question: What size is this pan, 8 inches
Answer: The pan is 7 1/8" inside at the top. The rim outside is 7 3/8". The side walls are 7" and the bottom curves in to a flat 6 1/4" base. Hope that helps.

User questions & answers

Question: what are all the inside diameters? to check if it will work with my existing stove
Answer: ID = 7 3/4” Deep = 5 3/4”
Question: Can this pot be used with a normal propane camp stove? or is it only flr the msr windburner stove
Answer: If it sits close enough too, and the flame goes inside the bottom opening (not around the outside) - then yes..
Question: Will this fit with the 1l msr windburner? side thought... with the cost, i'm torn between the 4.5l pot or the pan for my first purchase, thoughts
Answer: Foreword: I don't backpack/only car camp. I don't have the 1L but I do have the group system with the 2.5L pot in which the remote canister fits inside, and both are nested in the 4.5L pot with a few inches of space for a smaller burner like the MSR Pocket Rocket or the SOTO Windmaster. The price on the 4.5L pot has dropped down to $75 back in August, June, and May this year, so that might be worth considering as well. I had the Windburner skillet wishlisted for the longest time but I opted not to get it, and instead bought Primus' Classic Trail Stove for $15 at Walmart with the wider burner head, more versatile pan support (since it doesn't lock me into using Windburner accessories) and even-heat distribution with simmer control, so I can use my 6.5" or 8" cast iron skillet from home.
Question: will this pot work effectively with the Jetboild Basecamp stove
Answer: Hi John, the MSR WindBurner 4.5-Liter has a heat exchanger built onto the base of the pot that is designed to work specifically with the MSR WindBurner stove. The WindBurner stove uses a radiant burner head instead of an open flame. If this pot is used with stoves other than the MSR WindBurner, it may not heat as efficiently, quickly or to as high a temperature as it does with the MSR WindBurner stove. Answer: Yes, I used both 1.0 and 2.5 litter pots with MSR stove with remote canster and they performed much better then commoonwith flat bottom ( tested in camp Muir (Ranier) ~ 3100m ).This type of stove has large enough wings to safely mount this canister on top.I'll suhggest to consider to use fiberglass cloth (amazon it :-)) or thick aluminum foil as a wind shield.good luck!

User questions & answers

Question: Does the pan nest either the other 2 MSR pots
Answer: The MSR Ceramic Skillet has a larger diameter than either the MSR Ceramic Solo or Ceramic 2.5 Liter pots, which are the two MSR pots I'm assuming you are referring to. The Ceramic will nest into the Ceramic Skillet. - The MSR Customer Service Team

User questions & answers

Question: Can I use this with a pocket rocket
Answer: No. The pot was made specifically for the Reactor. It does not have the standard flat bottom of a regular pot that you would want to use with the Pocket Rocket.
Question: Can I use it with my whisperlite? Will it remove the need for wind shielding
Answer: Yes, 1.0, 1.7, 2.7 will stay and operate better then flat pot on a whisperlite. No, wind shielding is advised for high wind (pot is not fully fit as on MSR reactor), just take with you peace of thick foil.
Question: Will this fit on the windburner duo stove
Answer: No, this pot won't fit the Windburner Stove Systems. It is designed for the Reactor, and the Reactor and Windburner stoves are similar, but still different enough that pots and pans for each system will not work with the other system. - The MSR Customer Service Team
