This thing is beyond cheap, and I so wish I had spent a little extra the first time. My son was 13 when we got this- threw 65-70 at best. It falls over with every pitch. Before the first 20 minutes had past after we put it outside, we had stacked for large pieces of wood around it to try and ground it. The "target" is a cheap piece of red nylon tape that tore before the end of hour one. Our son was so frustrated with it, he didn't even want to bother with it. The whole point was so he could practice new pitch delivery accuracy whenever he wanted to. Epic Mom fail there!Now- ours sits in the rain currently- I see no decline in it's high quality craftsmanship.... ;) Learn from my mistake! |

| Answer: | About 30 to 40 mph from a distance of 25 to 30 feet. The balls that come with it, or are recommended for it, are junk, however it works great if you buy JUGGS plastic balls. I've had one in my basement for several years hitting JUGGS balls with wood bats and love it. The balls break occasionally after a long period of time but can really take a beating. I set-up the machine on stacked crates so that the machine is at shoulder height thus replicating a very inexpensive indoor pitching machine. If you buy good balls they will be delivered consistently in the strike zone. The best money I've spent for practicing baseball in the winter. |

| Answer: | If not used properly, the cable can become jammed at the end where height adjustment of the ball is made. That's what happened to the portable trainer I have when used by my son's 13/14yr old teammates. A college hitter shouldn't have that problem. As long as contact with the ball is proper and consistent, he can get hundreds of repetitions. I also recommend not leaving it outside where the weather can cause the ball to deteriorate. Fun gift though. |
