Answer:	The bottom is a pad made of something like rubber foam. It feels kind of like craft foam kids would cut shapes out of but sturdier. If it gets wet, it dries quickly - this happens to me often as my faucet is high, so water splashes out of the sink. It has never been an issue, and I'm quite OCD about the kitchen. If it got wet, you could just dry it off with a paper towel or towel. This is the best paper towel holder I've ever had and I've had it for a few years.
