Answer:	I filed down the edges. The six inch was too small for my hermit. My 4 yr old just turned 4 loved this thing when it arrived..thinkong it was for her so I ordered 8 inch and gave it to her. I do keep a eye but I also keep in mind that I had to use some weird metal tool I think for paint to file the edges and I used a lot of force and pressure on both, nothing chipped or broke etc.
