The compound is an anti-microbial chemical that is approved for cleaning food processing equipment. But it has not been approved in the U.S. as a processing aid in the production of rawhide chews for dogs. So when cleaning equipment may have some of chimecal left and gets into dog treat or food.

(This brand and others offer them, but look for WHOLE) He'd then have to gnaw because it is big and not brittle, and just get bone meal which dogs can digest naturally, not chucks or shards, which can give them trouble passing. The bone meals makes poop white from all the calcium, but perfectly healthy and harmless. Will also last for days or even weeks, depending on your dog.

Don't quote me on those percentages though, I'm not a lawyer, it's just an example. Where a product is made is not MY number one concern, I put trust in the company and value of the product above country of origin. In the past, I've bought US made products online from no-name companies that turned out to be complete crap. On the other hand, 100% of Apple's products are made 100% in China, yet Apple remains one of America's top brands.
