3 best large dog airline crate

Absolutely, let's talk about large dog airline crates. These crates are specifically designed to ensure the safety and comfort of your furry friend during air travel. They play a crucial role in complying with airline regulations and providing a secure space for your dog.

When it comes to these crates, size matters. A large dog airline crate should be spacious enough for your dog to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. However, it's also essential to check with the specific airline you're using, as different airlines may have varying size requirements.

The construction of these crates is typically sturdy and durable, meeting international airline standards. They often have ventilation openings to ensure proper airflow and visibility for your pet. Some crates come with additional features like water and food bowl attachments to keep your dog hydrated and fed during the journey.

Security is a top priority. Look for crates with secure locking mechanisms to prevent any accidental escapes during transit. It's advisable to familiarize your dog with the crate before the journey to reduce stress and anxiety.

Remember, the safety and well-being of your pet during travel are paramount. Investing in a high-quality, appropriately sized large dog airline crate is a responsible choice for pet owners planning to take their dogs on flights.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this have metal screws or should I purchase them my dogs will be flying united
Answer: A full grown Corgi should be able to fit our size Small perfectly. Unfortunately, we don't offer anything that will fit a Corgi pup at the moment, but keep an eye out for more sizing options!
Question: Can anyone tell me where I can find a replacement door for this cage featured above
Answer: I have a 55 lb dog and she wears a med/large so I would think a 30lb dog would be fine with a medium.
Question: Description says the kennel is 35" tall. alaska airlines allows 34"h max. anyone know the exact height (34-1/4, etc
Answer: The medium size should fit your pit well. :)
Question: Where there additional shipping fees charged for Prime
Answer: I hope that by "including the buckle" you aren't adding in the length of the prongs, as those go right into the other side of the buckle. It would make no sense to include that in the measurement. Instead, how about just saying whether the measurement should be the circumference of a standard collar on the dog (allowing for 2 fingers to fit within), or that the measurement is the length of a strap wrapped close to the dog's neck. With my dog, her standard collar circumference is 17 inches. Her strap-to-the-neck measurement is about 16 inches. If I measured her collar, including the length of the prongs, then we're talking a little over 18 inches.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this kennel FAA approved
Answer: Absolutely 100% FAA approved. This is THE airline create used all over the world. With that said, you should still check with your individual airline as they each seem to have their own rules and can vary depending on the type of aircraft being used for the particular flight.

(Actual Crate Weight: 51.5 lbs.)*Lg, XLg and Giant have 4-point locking door for added security*Med, Intermediate, Lg, XLg have tie down holes in corners for tying down in trucks or trailers*Small and Medium have handles, larger sizes do notVisual size/feature comparison: http://www.dogsupplynetwork.com/petmate-sky-kennel.htmlI have the X-Large 70-90 pds and really love it. It is like a mini-room for my 60 pd. puppy. The lock is secure yet simple to operate. Well ventilated with windows on all sides and tall enough for my dog to stand comfortably. I would not hesitate to recommend it. (Have not used it for airline travel-only as a home kennel) Update: My dog is now 88 pounds (german shepherd/border collie) and extremely muscular. He has not defeated the latch system. Plenty of room for him to stand and move within the crate. Fourteen months old and Kennel looks and functions just as it did on day one. I am purchasing a second one for my golden retriever puppy.
Question: is it bolted
Answer: 3/16th inch 10-24. That will get you to the hardware store to buy bolts and nuts. These are carriage bolts by the way.
Question: Is this crate/kennel IATA ?Airline cargo approved with a 65lb. mutt
Answer: Based on our experience, the answer probably is "it depends." For what it's worth, here are some notes on our experience.1/ We needed to fly from Seattle to Oslo with a 90 pound German Shepherd. 2/ Regulatory requirements re: crates are quite vague, and airlines implement the objectives ("comfortable," "safe," etc.) differently. But all of the constraints were based on height and length; we did not find an airline with a weight constraint. As for the height constraint, some airlines measure to the top of the ears sitting, while some measure to the top of the "head" (no clarification) standing. One airline measured length from tip-of-nose to tip-of-tail! At least for us, the airline (Iceland Air) could not accept this large crate at the airport. So we had to work with a freight company. At that point, you're subject to multiple entities' potentially different criteria (airline, freight co., FAA, IATA, and the USDA-equivalent in any country where you change planes). We decided to get something that would satisfy the strictest requirement. Ultimately, we found that the largest crate was the only way to make sure that our dog didn't get stranded en-route.3/ That said, the series 7 crate created some logistical issues. British Airways told us they could not accept the crate (regardless of the size fo the dog). American told us the same thing. United, Iceland Air, and SAS all provided quotes. Turns out that this crate would not fit on either a 737 or an A320! United only flies 737s into Oslo, but the freight rep was apparently unaware of the constraint. I can't imagine how screwed we would have been if we'd arrived at Heathrow planning to fly to Oslo on United. Anyway, if you do get the series 7 crate, make sure your entire journey is on sufficiently large aircraft. For us, that meant flying Iceland Air. They exclusively fly 757s, so we knew we'd be OK. Anyway, I hope some of this helps. This crate worked well for us, but it created additional administrative complexities for which some of the airline reps were unprepared. Good luck!!

User questions & answers

Question: What are the dimensions of the shipping box for the XL size crate
Answer: There are two inside pockets that are tall and at the bottom inside the jacket with their opening at the top and made using the same fabric that lines the coat (as opposed to a mesh some companies use). They would be appropriate for things like gloves or even a compact collapsible umbrella. They do not zip close. There are no pockets higher up that you might use for a phone, as an example, which is a bummer because there are no upper pockets on the outside either.
Question: what size you reccomend for a bulldog ? she weights 54 pounds and she is 9 months
Answer: The shell material is durable water resistant , will be OK in light rain but will soak through If exposed to prolonged rain.
Question: tall for xlarge kennel include wheels
Answer: No it is not removable.
Question: Has anyone used this kennel to fly with Air Canada
Answer: I’m not sure. I ordered it for my son.
