The length of the lead would be ideal for your little one.... Enough room for some distance and freedom but short enough to easily reign in should you need to. The leash is top quality but you must have small hands to operate it. I would have no hesitation in recommending this leash to anyone for a quality product as long as you understand that the grip and handle are very small. I know I'm blowing one note about that but it is the most outstanding fact about this leash. |

This did not come with a harness, and I felt the harness was almost necessary because the dog didn't choke from suddenly leaping forward and it was easier on my shoulder--less strain if you have an active dog. I bought the harness separately and I am not seeing a brand. It was mesh fabric like Sketchers shoes uses, so breathable, spread the stress, and washable . | Answer: | Our leash gets pulled out of hand and dragged on the ground daily. I've also dropped it in the river and THEN accidently dropped it, leash extended, wet, in the sand. Rather than ruin it, I was able to clean it out and dry it BECAUSE it is open. I extended it and cleaned the leash in the river. When I got home I extended the leash and dried it outdoors and then simply shook all the sand and dirt out of the housing. ANY other enclosed retractable would have been ruined. |

Well made and holding up well as our primary leash several times each day for months. |
