| Answer: | It is made for NiMH batteries. It is NOT brand specific. HOWEVER, this charger charges fast, too fast, causing the batteries to get warm - hot. This has 3 points to note. POINT1: High temperatures reduce the lifetime of batteries (ALL). POINT 2: Cheaper brand batteries may not survive this temperature as better brands (such as eneloop). POINT 3: (this is the most important one) How this charger determines when a battery is fully charge is related to the battery's ability to take in charge. When this ability reduces to a certain rate the charges considers the battery charged (this is the cut off point) . Some battery's do not accept that fast and the charger will think the battery is fully charged when it is NOT. In other words it may prematurely shut off. I bought this charger knowing this. I ONLY use this charger when I have to charge using the car or when it's urgent and I need to fast charge. Other than that I use a cheap eneloop charger. If I had the extra bucks I would purchase a "LaCrosse" charger. they are GREAT GREAT, they allow you to specify the charge rate for EACH battery. Well that's all for me, any questions, let me know. PS. for batteries buy ENELOOP with the CROWN on them, they are the way to go. DO NOT buy the black Eneloops, you pay alot more $$ for a little more bang. Peace out. |
