Answer:	There is a small internal device that acts as a starter to make the bulbs light up. It sounds like that starter has gone bad. Contact Flowtron and send them the unit for repair.

Answer:	I've been using mine indoors for years because I don't really care about the bugs outside... I don't want them in my house. This model whacks bugs day and night. it doesn't stink... the hum is loud. Death to the flying insect.

Answer:	the UV light attracts a ton of bugs at night but day time not so much. The Octenol makes the thing a bug killing fiend but in day time it is lack luster and probably a waste. Every morning it is 100% covered and clogged from mosquitoes and i have to use my data vac to clean it off. I use the 1 acre and 1.5 acre one and both are 100% covered by morning but during the day they hardly kill anything. They work at night well even without the Octenol but it definitely helps to have it. I have terrible mosquitoes here and mine only kills a few so if you are not flooded with them it probably won't do much for you during the day. I have to go outside with bug spray at noon to keep the mosquitoes off -_-

Answer:	It is an electrical device and is not waterproof. It works well outdoors but if it starts raining, it needs to be moved away from direct rain. It has worked well during camping trips as well as indoors when not traveling and has trapped many insects and mosquitoes. Being portable and re-chargeable makes it very versatile and we like it. I accidently discovered that it can even be recharged by a 12V cigarette lighter cord that comes with the Coleman red portable fluorescent lantern. So, you are no longer tethered to a 120V AC outlet when traveling.
