12 best mice bait
Mice bait is a type of bait used in pest control to attract and eliminate mice and other rodent pests. It is an essential component of pest management strategies, particularly for those dealing with rodent infestations in and around homes and gardens. Here's what you need to know about mice bait:
Purpose: The primary purpose of mice bait is to lure mice and rodents to consume the bait, which contains toxic substances. When ingested, these toxic baits are lethal to the rodents, helping to control and reduce the population.
Types of Bait: There are different types of mice bait available, including:
- Rodenticide Pellets: These are small, grain-like pellets that contain a rodenticide (poison) as the active ingredient. They can be placed in bait stations or scattered in areas where mice are active.
- Bait Blocks: Bait blocks are solid blocks or chunks of rodenticide. They are often used in bait stations, which protect non-target animals and prevent contamination of the environment.
- Liquid Baits: Liquid baits are designed to attract mice through their smell and taste. They can be applied in bait stations or directly onto surfaces that mice frequent.
Attractants: Mice bait typically contains attractants to entice rodents. These attractants can vary but may include food-based scents, oils, or flavors that appeal to mice's senses of smell and taste.
Active Ingredients: The active ingredients in mice bait are typically anticoagulants or other toxins that are toxic to rodents. Common active ingredients include warfarin, brodifacoum, and bromadiolone. These substances disrupt the rodents' ability to clot blood, leading to internal bleeding and eventual death.
Safety Precautions: When using mice bait, it is essential to follow safety precautions to prevent accidental poisoning of non-target animals, pets, or humans. Keep bait out of reach of children and pets, and use bait stations to minimize exposure.
Placement: Proper placement of mice bait is crucial for its effectiveness. Bait should be placed in areas where mice are known to frequent, such as along walls, near entry points, and in their nesting areas.
Monitoring: Regular monitoring of bait stations is necessary to assess the effectiveness of the bait and replenish it as needed. It's essential to check for signs of rodent activity and adjust the placement of bait accordingly.
Resistance: Some rodent populations may develop resistance to certain types of bait over time. In such cases, it may be necessary to switch to a different type of bait or consult with a pest control professional for alternative solutions.
Regulations: The use of mice bait may be subject to regulations and restrictions in certain regions. It's important to be aware of local laws and regulations regarding the use of rodenticides and to use them responsibly.
In summary, mice bait is a critical tool in pest control, particularly for managing mice and rodent infestations. It is designed to attract and eliminate these pests while taking precautions to minimize risks to non-target species and the environment. Proper placement, safety measures, and responsible use are essential when using mice bait for pest control.

Question: | Is this t j eaton 166004 709 pn legal in fresno california |
Answer: | The rats remove the cartridge, take a few bites, then put it back. That's why the clips are rat friendly... Their other option is to go in the hole on the side. |
Question: | Does it work on chipmunks and red squirrels |
Answer: | A Cat should not be able to get inside the Station, however, the Poison will be scattered Inside and Outside of the Station. Ensure the Station and the Poison is Not accessible from any of your Pets - Dogs, Cats, Birds, etc... |
Question: | Does the bait stop the mouse from stinking after dying |
Answer: | You do not have a lifetime supply of bait unless you only plan on living a few years. All drugs have shelf lives. Buy small amounts only as needed and try to establish how old the product is before you buy it. In AZ the packrats will carry away your baits (if you are foolish enough to all it) and stash them in middens (usually out of sight and mixed in with nasty bits of cholla cactus) where they will remain for years until they are safe to eat by future generations of packrats. Do not underestimate your enemy ;) |
Question: | Is this a 'no secondary poisoning' product |
Answer: | From EPA website:https://www.epa.gov/rodenticides/choosing-bait-station-product-household-useReady-to-use bait stations (Tier 1) that have been shown to be resistant to tampering efforts by young children and by dogs and are considered to be weather-resistant may be used indoors and outdoors, within 50 feet of buildings. Tier 2 ready-to-use bait stations have been shown to be resistant to tampering by young children and by dogs but cannot be used outdoors because they are not considered to be weather-resistant bait stations. Tier 3 ready-to-use bait stations have been shown to be resistant to tampering by young children and can be used indoors in area to which pets have no access. Tier 4 ready-to-use bait stations either have not been shown to be tamper-resistant or have not been tested in that regard. Therefore, Tier 4 stations may only be used indoors in areas to which young children and pets have no access, including residences where no young children or pets live or visit. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these also kill squirrels that get in the attic |
Answer: | Check with the Fresno County Animal Control please. This product is not legal in some areas of California and the fine could very well be far more expensive than you care to pay. |
Question: | Will ground squirrels eat this too |
Answer: | Ground squirrels are typically smaller than red squirrels and it kills them, so I would assume it would kill them all. The only problem is that you have to be careful where you lay it because it can kill any small animal, if they eat enough of it. This is the reason for using the PVC pipe into the burrows and putting it down there. |
Question: | How many pieces in 4 lbs? What do you recommend as bait station |
Answer: | Thank you for the question Victor. This is a product that will kill the mice and the great thing is that mice do not have a lot of moisture in their body and will not stink, if you have Rats it will be different they do have a lot of moisture and they will stink for up to 5 days or more. please read the label and follow the instructions for proper PPE and use of this product. |
Question: | What's the active ingredient in this product |
Answer: | This is a "first generation anti-coagulant". That means an animal has to eat some every day for 5-7 days in a row to die. The result is a very low chance of secondary poisoning (secondary poisoning being when a predator eats a rodent that ate the bait). However, this also means that it often doesn't kill all the rodents either. You may also want to consider Fasttrac, it is a true "no secondary kill" product and kills rats after only a single dose. It also has a lower toxicity than other products if non-rodents eat the bait directly. I sell both. JT Eaton blocks are popular for the cheapest option. Fastrac is the most effective and safest. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of more help. I have over 20 years of pest management experience. JoeEntomologistePestHero |

Tomcat with Bromethalin Bait Chunx
Tomcat with Bromethalin Bait Chunx contains the premium active ingredient Bromethalin, excellent for proven control of high rodent populations and severe infestations. Bromethalin is an acute, non-anticoagulant active that will begin to kill rats & mice in 2 or more days after consuming a lethal dose, faster than anticoagulant baits. Due to a quick knockdown, relatively more rodents can be controlled with less bait.
Motomco's unique, proprietary extrusion process produces Bait Chunx with multiple edges that appeal to a rodent's desire to gnaw. Chunx are made with food-grade ingredients and small amounts of paraffin for a highly palatable bait. Each block kills up to 12 mice on an average.
Kills by affecting the rodents’ nervous system – Bromethalin is an ATP Inhibitor, which prevents the transfer of energy across nerve cells.

User questions & answers
Question: | How does the mouse get the food when it is closed |
Answer: | yes all bait blocks have hole in middle to install in bait stations |
Question: | Can the blocks be put down without the base |
Answer: | Yes you must put them in bait stations. I sell them in my amazon store. However I would not use bait inside. You risk them dying inside the wall and you not being able to find them. They your house will stink of dead rodents. Get the bait stations and and bait and put them outside your home and then set rat snap traps in the attic. |
Question: | Can the bait/poison be used for rats |
Answer: | The pail is not big enough for 144 blocks. When I put my bait out, I put out 3 flavored blocks and don't touch them with your bare hands. Seems to work great. |
Question: | once the mic enter the station and et the green bait are killed inside and disposable. i think the mice exit and seek for water outside |
Answer: | you can break the cubes up if you like. yes throw them a way when the mice are gone or keep it out for returning mice in a safe place |
Question: | Are these refillable |
Answer: | I don't think it matters, we just leave these laying around our sheds in various places. We do have some trap boxes/bait stations but we don't put the poison inside. We store boys toys (cycles, boats, pontoons, campers, etc.) over the winter in our sheds and really need to keep the mouse population at bay, this has been working great, so far no problems. If you have pets running around this way probably won't work for you. If that's the case the size of the chunks is about 2 to 3" long by 1" around which should give you some idea of how big your bait station should be. |
Question: | does the bait have to be unwrapped for the mice to eat iy since some bait is wrapped in the traps |
Answer: | The block have a hole through them...Their designed to be put in a rodent bait station so that the rodents can't carry them off...You put three blocks in the bait stationwith the metal rod through the blocks (This prevents them from carry the blocks away which they will if you just have them sitting some where). The bait stationsare sold multiple places including here on Amazon...Here is a good deal on three of the stations sold on Amazon...https://www.amazon.com/Protecta-LP-Rat-Bait-Stations/dp/B007K1G5JM/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1487793914&sr=8-8&keywords=rat+bait+stationYou would get three stations (You put three blocks in each station)...Then put the stations in places where you know the rodents will feed.We actually use seven stations situated around the outside of our house and I check them on a weekly basis (More often during certain times of the year). You make sure that the stations alway have the bait in them. This way you keep the population decimated. I've been using this for five years now....Itworks and we live in a rural area of Nevada surrounded by farms so the rodent population is high. Rodents only like to travel short distances from theirnests so if you keep the population down around your house that is the goal. Any more questions just ask. |
Question: | How to use in an apartment? Will the mice die soon/nearby, or might they crawl off somewhere, discoverable only by their decaying smell days later |
Answer: | I had hired a professional pest guy and he did use a product that looked like this (red bait). Yes, there was some that did die in the walls BUT I did place a fragrant dryer sheet. The mice will decompose for there is nothing to them. I will buy this product to use in my shed, under the deck and under my brothers porch. See ya mice. |
Question: | What exactly are Ingredients |
Answer: | .005% brodifacoum (cas # 56073-10-0 ) contains denatonium benzoate 99.005 % other |

Question: | does this come with bait? Is the replacement bait bought separately |
Answer: | Technically, no. But I've been able to "pop" them open to refill and use them again. |
Question: | Does this have the bar to keep the bait stationary? I know this brand's for rats and mice does, but I can't tell from pictures of this one does |
