Comet pumps require a 12/24 volt direct current power source, which can be provided by either: - Automobile battery - Dry-cell batteries - 2*6 volt - Constant current transformer - Maximum non-smoothed current 14volt. The permitted running cycle is 15 minutes running time, 15 minutes cooling time.

Answer:	Hi, the manufacturer recommends run up to 15-20 min continuously. We had clients which run around 30 min without any issues. Also, more than 15min working time may impact on pumps working conditions, so we would not recommend to use it more than 15min. The best solution is: 15 min working - 10-15min rest - 15 min working

Answer:	A very short time might not damage the pump, but if the pump overheats it will indeed be damaged.

Question:	I have a 12 Ft. Deep pond I want to pump out. How far down can I pump it with this. How well will this pump suction when pulling water up hill. Thanks
Answer:	the intake will hang about 11 ft down into your pond...but depending on how high up the hill is...that is where you might find problems..the grade of the hill is important as well as who long the hose going up the hill is..if your hill is 25 long and it is 10 feet higher then where your pump is..that is about the limit..what you will find is you will lose "prime"..this is the suction of the pump..and the pump may overheat causing it to shut down.
Question:	will this water pump work for me to pump water out of the lake on to my grass
Answer:	I use one of these regularly and the answer to your question as asked is yes, it will move 158 gallons of water a minute from the lake onto your grass. The pump will have to be close enough to the lake for the end of the pickup tube to be submerged in the water and there are some vertical limitations as to how high the pump can be above the lake - check the specs. Once the water gets to the pump, you've got to figure out how to handle it. It's quite a stream if the motor on the pump is cranked up. We use a 50' flexible extension in addition to the included output hose and just hold the end in our hands like a fire hose - it's hard, wet work. But it does move a lot of water and fills our need perfectly.

Question:	Is this pump self-priming
Answer:	No, you have to prime it. The priming process is very easy though. I just dip a bucket into the ditch where I'm pumping from and fill up the chamber. I've thought of having another funnel to use when I pour the water in, but it really isn't necessary.

Question:	how high will it pump
Answer:	This depends on how much flow you can stand to lose...at some point, depending on which of their head charts you believe, you have zero GPH. On the box this is at 12 feet. From this on-line verssion: http://www.hydrofarm.com/downloads/fc/Active%20Aqua%20Water%20Pump%20Height_29271.pdfat 12 ft of head you still get ~150GPH. I have the equivalent of about 5 ft of head with all elbows and I have more flow than I can use. I have a tee off with a valve to divert some flow back to sump and I am still flowing over 600 GPH. It is rated for about 780gph for 5 foot of head (from the graph on the box) But I would still look at another pump to allow standard MPT fittings to screw in to pump rather than hose clamps. Quiet and creates enough heat to maintain at about 78 without a heater (mild summer indoor temps)
Question:	Can this pump be used inline? Meaning, a hose attached to the inlet and a hose attached to the outlet and then only the hoses submerged in water

Question:	what size tubing or hose does it take, and is it powerful enough for a waterfall box
Answer:	Mine came with several sizes of hose attachments. It goes from 1/2" to 1". It would have to be a small box and the height. I ran a rain garden with one and the rules I go by is for every hundred GPH you can go up a foot but the higher you go the less flow. Mine is only 2 foot up into an upper pool and I get about a foot wide over flow about 2" deep. I hope this help.
Question:	What is the maximum lift
Answer:	I don't know the maximum, however we had one of these pushing water up 4.5ft and then horizontally 28ft with 6 outlets of water. It did work but for our purposes we did need a larger pump. The only negative about this pump is the thread is not standard sized. PVC threaded items will not work. If you are using hose you should be just fine.

Answer:	Not sure quarter inch too small half inch too big. Ended up using half inch tube with half inch hose clamp works great.
Question:	Why are people saying it cannot be used as an inline pump? according to pics,remove control knob,connect fitting & place pump out of water
Answer:	If your not concerned about how long it takes, I used it to pump out a much smaller volume and had to switch to a different pump. I used a Master submersible utility pump, model 540094-01, 1/4 HP, also available on Amazon, but about 4x more expensive. The FREESEA was taking forever. The Master pump has a garden hose size output.

Question:	I have a 13ft x 2 ft circular fountain and am looking to run tubing through a water feature up 6 ft with a bell fountain head - would this work
Answer:	I use this pump to circulate water from a bottom pond (2000 gallons) to a top pond (900 gallons) for a waterfall. The water is pushed through 30 feet of 1.5 inch tubing up an incline of 5 feet. This pump circulates our water volume very well.
Question:	Does this have a threaded intake to allow connection of solid PVC pipe
Answer:	hello....I am presently far away from the pump (Az) in Europe and will not return back to Az before the end of August...sorry! Yet, I seem to recall that it did not have a threaded intake and I hooked it up to the PVC pipe with a short flex and clamps....hope it helps! I believe you meant "outtake" and not "intake" since the "intake" (where it "takes" the water in) is located underneath the pump itself, no hose, no pipe?
Question:	CAN YOU USE ONE INCH TUBING
Answer:	You can use any size tubing with the proper adapters however one must remember that using a small diameter tubing will increase the resistance and turbulence through the tube thus greatly reducing its flow capacity (its a logarithmic function). These types of pumps can handle high resistance on the output side however not at the input end so hopefully you are only referring to choking down the output and are willing to sacrifice the huge drop in flow as a result (note: expect a large pressure increase, similar to putting your thumb over the end of a water hose).
Question:	I'm confused. it's listed as a 3100gph but on the website it says maximum flow rate of 1100gph. which is it
Answer:	Hi Steve, the gph of any pump depends on the head pressure working against it. The Cyclone PAL3100 pumps 3100 gph at zero head. It pumps 2,251 gph at 5' of head, 1390 at 10' of head and 479 gph at 15' of head (according to the manufacturers literature). Head is roughly calculated by adding three things together, 1' of head for every foot of height from the surface of the pond to the highest point that the water will be pumped (if you could measure it straight up), another 1' of head for every 10' of tubing length, and another 1' for every sharp turn or obstacle like a UV unit or a 90 degree elbow). The 250-500 models have a more noticeable drop in flow around 3' of pressure, so you may consider going with something stronger given the amount of height in your project.
